I guess that means I did my long run today. 😉

The weather was still relatively nice when I took off just around 6:30 this morning. Instead of driving to a trail, I stuck around my neighborhood and got pretty creative with my loops and turns. I tried to fit as much distance as I could in my small area and was pleased with the results.

The goal was 12 miles, going in I told myself I’d be happy with 10, and my middle ground ended up being a solid 11. My pace was all over the place – one second I would see 8:34 and the next 11:01 – but I finished with a pretty even 9:34.

I felt pretty good on the run, just a little bored. I downloaded a new book for my ipod right before I left and found it to be a little too light and airy for my taste. My interest never really picked up and I’m still sort of confused on where the storyline(s) are going. Oh, well.

After my run I wasn’t feeling hungry at all. Nothing sounded good, but I knew I had to have something. A smoothie seemed to be the best bet.

The base for the smoothie was a chocolate Mix1 that had been in my fridge.

The Mix1 was given to me after a long bike ride a few weeks ago and has been staring at me in the fridge ever since. Truth is, I’m not a fan of drinking chocolate milk (or another that really resembles milk). I tried a sip of Courtney’s on the way home that day and had already sold myself on the fact that I wasn’t going to like it on it’s own, BUT I kept it around because I hate wasting food and knew it would come in handy.

This morning I poured the chocolate Mix1 in a blender and added a handful of spinach, frozen strawberries, and some xanthum gum.

The results were a strawberry-chocolate shake that tasted like ice cream.

A half of a cup of Kashi Go Lean Crisp on top gave the smoothie a nice crunch. I love the juxtaposition of creamy and crunchy textures.

However, my hunger levels are still feeling off and I could only eat 1/2 the bowl. So, strange! I’m sure I’ll be hungry for the rest in another hour or so – my body just needs to catch up with my head.

How is your appetite usually after long runs? Ate you a starvin’ marvin’ or barely able to force anything down?

Hot Run. Cold breakfast.

Good Morning! I was up bright and early this morning for a good run around the neighborhood. I took a few new side roads and ended up completing 6 miles in a little less than an hour. I started out feeling painfully slow, but, once I was warmed up, I found my groove and felt more »

Whoa! Speed work with the Tampa Tri Team was INTENSE tonight. Our track is still under construction (it should re-open at the end of this month!), so we were confined to the YFC parking lot for the majority of our workouts. We would run a lap of the parking lot, do some agility drills, then more »
