#WDWMarathonTraining Week 7

Saying good-bye to week 7 of my training plan.


Eh. Not the best week. The Sunday long run the week before really threw me off in the beginning of the week and Hurricane Matthew put a damper on my plans at the end of the week. The good news is I was still able to get in 7 miles on Saturday, so you win some, you lose some.

  • Pace: 10:19


Stuck to the treadmill for my speedwork session this week. I did a simple ladder that pushed me just enough to hurt, but also where I knew I could hold on for just “a little bit longer.”

  • Time: 41:50
  • Pace: 10:28

I was able to get up a little earlier to fit the 4 miles in and finished feeling great. I ran 4:30 and walked :30. Again, love seeing that pace starting to drop!


I also loved running in my new Brooks Chaser 5” shorts. Since I do the majority of my runs before sunrise, I always appreciate any clothing that has extra reflective details. Unfortunately a lot of running companies (including Brooks) generally save their high reflective designs for their fall/winter line (aka jackets and running tights) when the days are shorter and the weather is cooler. While this is a great feature for anyone that lives up north, it’s not always practical for this Florida girl. Having a pair of shorts with the same level of reflective detail is a big step forward. I can promise you these will be my go-to running shorts for the rest of this training cycle (and beyond).

My sister and nephews were staying at our house on Friday night, so my goal was to be back home before they woke up. I followed a new-to-me extended path around our neighborhood and was back at home before 7:15 (just in time for Annalynn to wake up – it’s like she knows the instant I walk in the door). I followed the same 4:30 run/ :30 walk format at Thursday and was really comfortable with the pace. As the miles increase each week, I’m finding myself more and more nervous before the start of each long run. And then I do it and I realize that I CAN do this. It’s an amazing feeling.
