Week 4 is done and we’re back on track!
Monday
- Distance: 4 mi
- Time: ?? (my watch wasn’t working)
- Pace: ??
I had the pleasure of knocking out 4 miles with my friend Ashley in Brooklyn on Monday. One of the perks of traveling for work is getting to see long-distance friends. We hadn’t seen each other since Thanksgiving 2014, when Derek and I flew to Switzerland for a brief visit. Ashley and her husband have been back stateside for over a year now, but due to pregnancy/ the logistics of traveling with a baby, this was the first chance I had to see them.
The weather was amazing. It was my first taste of fall for the season and I’m jealous those cool temps won’t be hitting Florida for a while. I can’t tell you how great it was to run with Ashley and have her push me forward. We still walked a tad, but not nearly as much as I have been lately. I really need to find more friends to run with in Tampa. The best way to gain speed is to run with friends who are speedier to you. Seriously.
Wednesday
- Distance: 3 mi
- Time: 35:30
- Pace: 11:49 min/mi
I really wanted to keep pressing snooze and skip this run. It was tempting, very tempting, but I fought the urge. Instead I put my big girl pants on, got out of bed, and ran. No regrets.
Friday
- Distance: 4 mi
- Time: 46:59
- Pace: 11:45 min/mi
I had a rare Friday off from work and was trying to figure out how to sleep-in while still being able to fit my run in. Annalynn had to be at school at 8:00am for picture day and I had an appointment at 9:30am. Hmm… could I possibly drop her off via the jogging stroller? It’s 2 miles to her school and 2 miles back – exactly what I needed to cover for the day.
So Friday morning I loaded up the Bob and off we went. I felt like supermom, it was awesome! I dropped her off, turned around, and ran with the empty stroller back home. I wish I could do it everyday. I love running with my girl.
Saturday
- Distance: 3.1 mi
- Time: 35:11
- Pace: 11:19
I ran the Fit Foodie 5K with Annalynn on Saturday. I have a detailed race recap coming soon, but it was a really fun race and I’m so glad I got to run it with Jess (and her side kick Mason!).
Not a super-crazy week, but definitely a productive one. The slow climb of building mileage begins next week. It’s only going to go up and up from here!
