A Look Back at 2015

by Meghann on December 31, 2015

Happy New Year’s Eve!

At the end of 2014 I was not in a good place. On December 31st I essentially gave the finger to one of the hardest years of my life and vowed to do things differently in 2015: new year, new attitude. Just a few weeks later we discovered we were expecting our little miracle. The “LMP” my due date was based on was 12/31/14. I guess 2014 wanted to prove it still had a little magic in it.

So 2015 became the year of our miracle. Between pregnancy, giving birth, and adjusting to life with a newborn; 2015 was essentially all baby, all the time.

Don’t get me wrong, 2015 still had its share of ups and downs, but I wouldn’t trade any of those for a second. All of the anxiety I felt this year, all of the body image struggles, all of the sleepless nights, and all of the hormone driven craziness was 100% worth it. 2015 was the year of the baby, but it was also the start to the next chapter in our lives. It was our year of hope, love, and family.

Here’s a look back at the year that changed our lives forever:

Meghann, you had quite the year! I’m always continually amazed by your ability to be so incredibly honest on your blog about your personal life. I’m sure that it was hard at times to put things out there like your TTC and MC stories, but it means the world to your readers it gives us all hope and inspiration. So many people going through the same things as you really appreciate following your story. You’ve done so many amazing things, I can’t wait to see what next year holds for you!

I remember reading those posts where you opened up and shared what you were going through. It takes a lot of strength to do that and gives courage to other people who might be scared to share their own struggles. Thank you for being so transparent and being willing to share so much of your life!

I don’t always comment, but I want you to know this post really helped me. That may seem like an odd thing to say, but I keep trying to remind myself that a year can make a whole world of difference. Since wanting to be a mom in 2014, I’ve dealt with 18 months of health problems. As I work through some of those issues, not knowing if I’ll ever be “healthy enough” to have a baby, it is good to see someone be so honest about their own struggles. Thank you.

What year! It’s incredible to look back and see all that’s happened in 2015. Like you I started this year feeling sad after a 2014 miscarriage and wondering if I’d ever have the second child I’d always dreamed of to complete our family… And ending this year with a beautiful new baby in my arms! Looking forward to following your adventures in 2016.
