Life

by Meghann on August 6, 2013

Life is crazy right now. Not a bad crazy, just crazy.

Between Ironman training and traveling for work, my weekends are booked from now until November. My mornings and evenings are booked, too. My work/life/training balance is still up in the air which is why I’ve been absence from the blog a little more than usual lately. This past weekend I was in Syracuse for work and didn’t check my personal email once. In fact, I signed out of my personal Instagram/ Twitter accounts so I could dedicate my time to my work ones. I was also in bed while it was still light out every night (sleep is still a priority!). We went out to dinner after we finished for the day and I fell asleep on the car ride home with a 24-pack of water bottles as my pillow. When I’m tired, I’m apparently not picky.

I actually enjoy unplugging while I’m traveling for work. It gives me a chance to unplug from the rest of the world and just handle the job at hand. I love my co-workers. We’re our own little work family and they’re part of the reason I love my job as much as I do. We’re in the thick of the busy season now and we all have each other’s backs.

I feel like I should be freaking out about Ironman training right now, but I’m not. I’m still only taking it one week at a time and I think that helps with the pressure. I can’t go back and change the past and I have to put my job in front of my training, so it is what it is. I’ve also had some great discussions regarding training with a few Ironman finishers (including my co-worker) who have all put my mind to ease about training. I think the only people who are freaking out about my training (both online and in person) are those who have never been through the training process themselves. The Ironman finishers have faith in my training, as do I.

I make no promises on how often I will be posting on this blog over the next month. So much of my life is on this blog and I miss coming here three times a day to share, but life is just too crazy at the moment. I’m not going away, I’m just not here as often. I’m no longer relying on my blog for income, so it’s nice to have a little bit of flexibility and freedom here. Lately I’ve only been writing when I have something to say or something new to share which is refreshing.

I need to throw this out there: I have the world’s best husband. To put up with my traveling and Ironman training during our first year of marriage is beyond amazing. I miss him so much when I’m away and try to fit my training in as early as I can so I can spend as much time as possible with him when I’m home on the weekends. He keeps me sane even when I’m hundreds of miles away.

So that’s life right now. How’s life on your end?
