Toyota RAV4 Adventure Club and TOM TOM LIVE Giveaway #ToyotaRAV4Adventure

by Meghann on July 10, 2012

When this post goes live I will be 35,000 ft in the air and well on my way to my next unexpected adventure in Seattle.

At least, that’s the hope. Fingers crossed everything goes smoothly as I write this. 🙂

We all have that one item we like to make sure we pack first when we are prepping for a trip. For some it’s their favorite shirt and for others it might be as simple as their toothbrush. For me, it’s my running shoes. I don’t leave home without them. Half the fun of traveling is exploring new areas by foot and I can’t wait to break out my shoes and take beautiful Seattle by storm.

I’ll never forget the first time I packed my running shoes. It was for my first real business trip to Long Beach back in 2009, and sure enough they were the first thing in my bag.

To be honest, I thought I would be confined to a treadmill in the hotel’s gym the entire time. I was still a newbie of a runner and didn’t know the area very well. It was only when I first arrived – and realized how gorgeous the area was – I knew I couldn’t stay inside forever.

After a little research on, I discovered my hotel was walking distance to a beachside trail that went on for miles and miles. It also came highly recommended by many local and visiting runners, and the fact that the sun rose a little earlier on the west cost (full sunny skies by 5:30am!) won me over. Sold.

So my first morning in Long Beach, I laced up my running shoes and set out on my running adventure. One mile in and I couldn’t believe I almost missed on a chance to run by the beach. The route was gorgeous and soaking up the sun and ocean sea breeze was the perfect way to start my crazy day.

That unexpected running adventure was my first of many over the years. Since Long Beach I’ve had the pleasure of running in New York City, San Francisco,New Orleans,Denver, and so on and so on. Each trip brings something new because you never really know what to expect when exploring somewhere new.

I can’t wait to take my running shoes out for their next adventure in Seattle! I hope they’re ready for it. 🙂

So… what is a Tom Tom GO LIVE? And how do we add a route and get votes to win $500?

3 Meghann July 10, 2012 at 10:31 am

A TOM TOM GO LIVE is a navigation system. You can create a route at the Toyota RAV4 Adventure Club link here: and collect votes to win the $500 from there. Good luck!

I hope the weather stays nice for you in Seattle! It’s pretty much the greatest place on earth 😉 it’s supposed to be around 80 degrees for the next week. I’d love to know if you find any good places to run while you’re there!

I had an unexpected adventure when I first came to Los Angeles. I got lost driving around but kept making turns that I thought would take me towards the freeway. Eventually I found myself on Fairfax Avenue driving past various Jewish delis. Miraculously a parking spot opened up near me so I pulled in. I figured, since I was here, why not? Not only did I get directions to the freeway, I also got a delicious slice of raisin bread that tasted like the marriage between a raisin nut bar and raisin bread pudding!

My biggest adventure happened when my husband of 8 years told me he was gay and we were getting divorced all while we were living in Japan. The adventure started when I had to find a new job and move back to the US on my own. At first it was a kick in the teeth, but now I couldn’t be happier and my wasband and I are still best friends.
