Classified! Super Duper Top Secret!

by Meghann on June 11, 2012

You know an email is going to be good when the words “Classfied!” and “Super Duper Top Secret!” are in the subject line. ๐Ÿ˜‰

I received one of those “Classified! Super Duper Top Secret!” emails over the weekend from my friend Dee, who had top secret plans for our mutual friend Mary. Dee works at the Tampa Lululemon and she and the other Lululemon girls were conspiring to “propose” to Mary and ask her to be their new local run ambassador at tonight’s run club meet up.

Lululemon Ambassadors are athletes in the area who embody the Lululemon culture and who they believe inspire the community. It’s a huge deal and a big honor! Mary is not only an amazing, gifted runner (she’s a Boston qualifier!), but she also has a heart of gold and is always willing to help a fellow runner in need (she was even kind enough to pace to me to my half marathon PR this past February <– she rocks). She’s so outgoing, and so willing to help and teach others, that I knew she would make an awesome running ambassador!

Dee asked that I make sure Mary turned up for tonight’s run club (Mary is a regular of the Monday night group that meets at 6:30pm in front of the Hyde Park store, but you never know what could happen) and I passed along Mary’s husband Marcus’ information so he would be in on the surprise as well (he was totally down with it).

Mary had already invited our swim group to join her for this Monday’s run group, so I texted the group around 6:00 to confirm the time with Mary and see if anyone else was coming. She said yes, but then it started thundering and she began to waiver. Noooo… luckily the thunder stopped and she confirmed that Marcus and her would be going either way. Sweet.

At 6:30 on the dot, our group of a dozen or so runners circled up outside the store and were provided with a little pre-run pep talk before taking off.

Then we were off!

BUT it wasn’t long before we came up on the group of Lululemon girls waiting around the corner with their big proposal for Mary!

As soon as our group turned the first corner the girls all screamed in unison “WILL YOU BE OUR AMBASSADOR, MARY?!?!” I think it took her a minute to figure it out, but as soon as she realized what they were asking Mary said YES! Woo hoo!!!

There were a few hugs, a ton of photos, and one shocked Mary trying to soak it all in.

Yay, Mary!!!!!! She is going to be a kick butt ambassador. They chose well. ๐Ÿ™‚

After the “proposal” we weren’t 100% sure if the run was still happening, but eventually a few of the girls broke off and we all ran the 3 mile loop down Bayshore and back.

The group was a fun one to run with. They meet every Monday and typically do 3-4 miles at varying paces. Everyone is really welcoming and encouraging, and at the end of the run Lululemon provides water bottles and mini smoothies for all the runners. I love how welcoming the Lululemon community is, they’re definitely great at that!

Unfortunately (or fortunately?) it started pouring about a mile or so into our run. Besides the fact that I was running with my phone (thankfully Mary had a ziploc bag she could stow it in), the rain wasn’t terrible. It was actually really refreshing to run in, and we all sorta welcomed it. But it did make for a gang of sweaty, soaked runners upon our return.

Real runners do it in the rain. Right? ๐Ÿ˜‰

One final CONGRATS MARY! You are a running rockstar and will do the Lululemon community proud! ๐Ÿ˜‰

I wore my new Sprigs Banjees Wrist Wallet on my run this evening. The company had sent the Banjees Wrist Wallet (in conjunction with FitFluential) to review for the blog.

The idea behind the Banjees is a good one. It’s a zipper wrist wallet made with organic cotton that can store your keys/credit cards/ID while you run.

I had my credit card in there just in case I found something I liked at Lululemon. ๐Ÿ˜‰

I love that the Banjees are practical when it comes to storing gear, are large enough to hold a ton of junk, and come in a variety of fun designs and colors, but wearing a long cotton wrist wallet in the middle of summer in Florida didn’t work. The wrist wallet ended up sticking to my wrist from the sweat, and the rain wasn’t helping. I ended up taking it off and sticking it in my sports bra. On the plus side, it does make a convenient little purse to stash in your sports bra if need be. I think I actually preferring it that way and would probably use it again in that light. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Before I met up with swim practice, I made a jumbo smoothie that kept me ridiculously full through the afternoon.

Smoothie mix:

  • frozen peaches
  • ice
  • milk
  • chia seeds
  • honey
  • peanut butter
  • chocolate protein powder

I was still full from the smoothie when I started making dinner at 8:00pm. I had originally planned on making turkey meatballs, but wasn’t in the mood for anything heavy at that point. Instead I broke out the veggies and just made a random bowl of veggies and eggs.

On the bottom of the bowl was a pan fried mix of sweet potatoes, onion, and broccoli. There was a mis-communication with the eggs. Derek offered to help and thought I wanted scrambled when I pulled a bowl down (to serve my portion in). I was planning on some fried eggs, but scrambled worked too.

Dessert was a real treat, but I’m going to wait for now to share details. ๐Ÿ˜‰

I’m exhausted!

Good Night!!

*I updated the wedding page today! My wedding dress is here!* Leftovers. Leftovers are always a safe bet for lunch. Leftovers on top of a salad? Even better. I reheated last night’s triscuit chicken chicken tenders, roasted okra, and steamed cauliflower, and added it all to a bed of spinach. A drizzle of spicy bbq more ยป

Wedding: My dress is here!

I received a fun little announcement in my inbox last week. ๐Ÿ˜‰ (p.s. I like how the email said that this was “just a friendly reminder” when it was really my first and only notification that my dress had arrived. Considering David’s Bridal spams you up the minute you hand over your email address, I’m more ยป

Summer Break

June 11, 2012

Good Morning! Maddie and I laced up our running shoes this morning (well, I laced up my running shoes while Maddie licked her paws) and headed out for a quiet 4 mile run around the block. The weather is still just as sunny and gorgeous as it was yesterday, so we made sure to take more ยป
