Lunch on the go

by Meghann on April 10, 2012

Hello from paradise.

Or should I say, hello from Orlando. ๐Ÿ˜‰

I’m in town for the Social Mobile Payments conference at the Marriott Orlando World Center this week. I was hired as the event coordinator for the conference and have been working with the Social Mobile Payments team for a couple of months now. I love event coordinating/ planning, so this job has been nothing but fun and I look forward to seeing it through over the next couple of days.

I was running late this morning (per usual) and ended up packing a quick lunch to go.

The plan was to eat the lunch when I made it to Orlando, but I ended up stopping at a rest area halfway through and just digging in in my car.

Derek’s mom sent us home on Sunday night with some restaurant to-go containers filled with Easter leftovers. She saves the restaurant to-go containers for occasions just like that, so she doesn’t have to worry about getting them back afterwards. I thought that was brilliant. I ended up washing one of the containers and packing my lunch in it. When I was done, I didn’t mind throwing it in the trash afterwards.

However, I did make sure to keep the mini tupperware that was filled with hummus. ๐Ÿ˜‰

My lunch was simple – just pita wedges, carrot sticks, and hummus.

Plus some Naturebox veggie chips. I’m not a big fan of veggie chips, but these are actually pretty good.

The Marriott Orlando World Center is a GORGEOUS hotel. Apparently, it’s the largest Marriott in the world (hence the name).

Even more impressive is my view.

Look! Epcot!

Tower of Terror! Mount Everest!

And there’s Downtown Disney with the Contemporary and Magic Kingdom behind it.

Who wants to go to Disney with me?! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Oh, fresh pineapple was enjoyed once I made it to my room.

(Don’t forget to check out my Whole Food pineapple giveaway!)

Flying Pig

I saw something interesting pop up on the Flying Pig Facebook page yesterday.

Screen shot 2012-04-10 at 3.28.52 PM.png

The Flying Pig is inviting socially connected runners to apply for a Flying Pig All Access Pass.

2012 Flying Pig Marathon All Access Pass Benefits include:

  • Media Credential with access to the Expo, Media Center, VIP Tent and Finish Line
  • Access to FPM officials to conduct interviews to share on social media
  • Access to photos and videos from previous races and the 2012 events
  • Access to interview the 2012 champions of the Flying Pig Marathon

Pretty cool, right? This is the first time I’ve seen a marathon offer up this opportunity and I’m interested to see if this becomes a trend with other races.

If you’re interested in applying for the pass you can do so by clicking here. I’ve already submitted my application, now it’s time to cross my fingers and wait. ๐Ÿ™‚

I stayed at that hotel for a conference a few years ago and got in a lovely 8 mile run in the golf cart path. We’ll just ignore the fact that it said “no jogging” ๐Ÿ™‚

As one of your readers from Canada (Nova Scotia) it’s so fun to see you post on a place I’ve been. About three years ago I went to a conference at that Marriott. It’s probably the best pool area I’ve been in and was such a lovely hotel. I didn’t have quite the view you did but it didn’t matter ๐Ÿ˜‰ I did get to go to Disney (another first) and explore a bit after the conference ended. I hope you have a wonderful time!
