Toasting The Future Mrs. Anderson

by Meghann on December 18, 2011

Five years ago my little brother met a girl.

That girl became his girlfriend…

Then his fiance…

And, in exactly two months from today, she will become his wife. ๐Ÿ™‚

Today we came together to celebrate the ‘Future Mrs. Anderson’ and the many years of happiness that lie ahead for her and my brother.

The best part is, my little brother isn’t just gaining a wife, but I’m also gaining another sister.

Sisters unite! ๐Ÿ˜‰

But, let’s back up.

My morning began with an early drive to Titusville and brunch with an old high school friend at one of the very few establishments opened on Sunday in Titusville – Pumpernickel’s (this town is a ghost town past 9pm or on Sundays).

Just for fun – Allison and I back in 2002. This photo was taken just seconds after everyone yelled ‘Surprise!’ at the surprise party I threw her for her 18th birthday.

And here we were today.

Crazy to think the top photo was almost 10 years ago! Where does the time go?

Allison and I met at JV cheerleading camp back in 2000 and remained inseparable through high school and the majority of college. Unfortunately we’re not as great as keeping in touch as we used to be, so it was nice to play catch up. Hopefully there will be plenty more catch-up sessions in the near future. ๐Ÿ™‚

We played the ‘who do we know from high school that’s pregnant/married/gone crazy/came out of the closet’ game while dining on oatmeal and eggs.

Good times. ๐Ÿ™‚

Ashley’s bridal shower was hosted by her Maid of Honor, Amanda, at her parents’ beautiful house by the river. The setting was a little on the cool side, but absolutely GORGEOUS! Amanda did a wonderful job organizing everything.

Kelly and I arrived a couple of hours early and helped with what we could.

See those mini sandwiches? Oh yeah, totally mine and Kelly’s handiwork. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Amanda started us off with a champagne toast to the bride.

Then it was time to EAT! So much yummy food, I kept going back for more pretzel crisps and hummus. I <3 hummus!

Game time!

We played two games. One with who knew the bride best (her mom won <- cheater! ๐Ÿ˜‰ ) and the next with how well the bride knew the groom (umm… only 6 out of 13 questions right?! Come on, Ashley! To be fair, they were pretty hard questions! One of them was along the lines of ‘What was Ben’s fastest marathon time?’ I didn’t even know the answer to that.)

Cake.. err... Cupcake time!

Ashley and Ben plan to go the non-traditional route with a stand of cupcakes rather than tiers of wedding cake for their reception. Her very talented friend Melissa will be baking the cupcakes for the wedding day and we were lucky enough to have a sneak peek of just how talented she is at the shower.

Not only were the cupcakes gorgeous, but they tasted amazing as well. Fresh vanilla cake topped with a dark fudgy icing. Delicious. ๐Ÿ™‚

We moved inside for presents.

What do you think? Potential cake topper? ๐Ÿ˜‰

I’d been DYING to tell/show Ashley her gift ever since I ordered it a couple of months ago. I’m awful at keeping secrets (actually, my whole family is), so I’m surprised I made it all the way to the shower before spilling the beans!

It’s. A. Hanger!

Looks more exciting than it sounds, right? I ordered it from this seller on Etsy thanks to a recommendation from a friend. If you’re looking for a personalized gift for an upcoming shower, I second the recommendation. The seller was a dream to work with and had the hanger to me in plenty of time before the shower. Now Ashley has something pretty to hang her dress on for the big day. ๐Ÿ™‚

My sister also found this great day-of sweatshirt on Etsy. Etsy is THE place for fun gifts. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Kelly and I took our bridesmaids duties very seriously. She tracked the gifts, while I stabled the bows to a plate for Ashley’s rehearsal bouquet.

Here comes the bride…

How does the saying go? Every ribbon you break at your bridal shower is how many children you have in the future? Ashley didn’t break any, so she ‘cheated’ and went back to cut two just in case. ๐Ÿ˜‰

The party was a great success! ๐Ÿ™‚ I know bridal showers can be cheesy, but I’m a big cheeseball who eats this stuff up! Bring. It. On. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Bride + her bridesmaids!

The whole gang! (minus a few that had to leave early)

Psst….. See the dress I’m wearing? It’s the new Holiday Dress from Five Bamboo and it was ridiculously comfy and warm to wear. Like what you see? Come back Tuesday and I may or may not have one to giveaway. ๐Ÿ˜‰

The drive home to Tampa was late and full of very loud music and horrible singing (mine, not the radio’s.)

Dinner was a small plate of apple, carrots, peanut butter, and cashews.

I must have snacked more than I realized at the shower because even then plate was too much. I ate half before putting the rest away. My belly was full.

And now my belly’s ready for bed.

Good Night!!

Partying in O-Town

December 18, 2011

In most areas around the country wedding season typically runs from May to August. That’s when you have green fields, blue skies, temps above freezing, etc. etc. Soooo not the case around here. In Florida things are usually opposite. Our wedding season runs from November to March (just like our running season ๐Ÿ˜‰ ). That’s more ยป
