Kibble in a Jar

by Meghann on October 18, 2011

Ready, Set, Stage 4 – Go!

Whoa. We’re moving up into the big leagues here. No new moves, 3 sets of 8, 90 seconds rests, and 120 second planks? Yep, the big time. ๐Ÿ˜‰

This morning was day one of stage 4A of The New Rules of Lifting for Women. I always love the first day of a new stage because everything is so new and fresh. It’s when my muscles hurt the worse and when my body needs the most time to recover.

Fortunately, this time around, all the moves are repeats from previous stages – nothing new, just the order in which they were presented. I liked it because it meant I wasn’t afraid to start out heavy and see where it took me. Hurt. So. Good.

I’ll have a full recap of Stage 3 up tomorrow – complete with progress photos and final thoughts. I think stage 3 has been my favorite thus far, but I did enjoy my first go at stage 4 this morning.

After having my fill of pumping iron, I headed home to have my fill of overnight oats in a jar.

Love this stuff!

Last night I prepped an almost empty jar of honey peanut butter with:

  • 1/2 cup Rolled Oats
  • Plain Yogurt
  • Pumpkin <– <3
  • Milk
  • Chia Seeds
  • Cinnamon
  • Raisins

This morning I added:

  • 1/2 cup Pear
  • Good Run Granola

And just so you don’t think I’m depriving Maddie of her own in-the-jar-action…

Once I was finished with my overnight oats in a jar, I threw some of Maddie’s food in the remaining bits for some ‘Kibble in a Jar’

She LOVED it.

Okay this is sort of genius! My dog LOVES the leftover PB jars, which is why I never do oats in a jar, because I can’t bear to deprive her. Love love this!

See, Maddie and I share the last peanut butter, so it’s a win-win. ๐Ÿ™‚

Oh no! I’ve got one more 3B session left and onto then stage 4. 120 second planks!? I might seriously die of shaking trying to hold that! I also see the dreaded step up in there….ugh.

5 Meghann October 18, 2011 at 10:48 am

Ha! I saw the Step Up and immediately started saying dirty words too! Why do they keep bringing that one back?!?! I hate it!

That looks so incredibly good. I LOVE Maddie’s version of “OIAJ” haha – that’s too cute.

I’ve totally done that with my dog too! Her fav is when I mix her food with PB, stuff her kong with the mixture and freeze it for just a bit.

Lol, it looked like Maddie was loving her kibble in a jar.

I break the dogs out of the kennel today and I have big plans for a homemade doggie meal for them later today:-)

They’ll be happy to hear that! Nothing like coming home to good food prepared with love by Mom.

I just grabbed New Rules of Lifting for Women from the library and am psyched to get started…aside from the whole stage dedicated to doing a chin up!

Be careful of Maddie and your oat jar if you have raisins in there. I’m sure you got them all out (who leaves raisins behind??), but grapes/raisins can be really bad for pups.

17 Meghann October 18, 2011 at 12:34 pm

There were no raisins left. I checked. ๐Ÿ™‚

I think you’re going to start a new trend with “kibble in a jar”! My dog, Honey, LOVES peanut butter and I’m sure the jar would occupy her for at least a little while. Definitely trying that soon!

Ugh, I hate step ups. I want them to die. I also hate lunges, but I hate step ups much more. Almost done with Stage 2 over here.

that’s such a good idea – kibble in a jar! I’ll have to tell my brother! He needs entertaining things to give his dog when he leaves her at home.
