It’s Britney, bitch!
(p.s. How badass is it that Britney was able to coin the phrase ‘It’s Britney, bitch’? I’ve tried ‘It’s Meghann, bitch’ but it doesn’t haven quite the same punch. You have to have some powerful mojo to pull that line off.)
The concert last night was AWESOME. Lots of great dancing. Lots of great
singing lip-syncing. And just an all around great show. Totally worth the $36 Groupon deal. 🙂
I left Tampa around 3:00 yesterday with the basic road trip essentials: an ipod loaded with a kick ass Britney inspired playlist, a cup of highly caffeinated iced tea, and a bag of freshly popped popcorn to munch on along the way.
Popcorn makes the best road food – minus the greasy hands on the steering wheel.
A quick stop at the mall resulted in the perfect Britney Spears outfit.
Check out the shoes! Forever 21 all the way!!
I was dressed very tame compared to some girls. Apparently Britney Spears is the perfect excuse for everyone’s inner ‘hoochie mama’ to come out. There were lots of tight dresses, lots of glitter, and lots of short skirts. I wasn’t sure if I was at a concert or at a club. It definitely made people watching and entertaining experience. 🙂
This concert was my first excuse to check out the brand new Amway Center that was completed last year.
Very impressive! it was so clean and shiny inside, I felt like I was at a really nice airport instead of a typical stuffy arena. The best part was all the WINDOWS. There were beautiful views of downtown everywhere and all the natural light really opened the place up and made everything feel so airy and light. I was a fan.
The new Amway Center was also really organized. They had a special window for Groupon ticket holders and, even though I was picking up my tickets thirty or so minutes before the event, there were no lines and it took just a couple of minutes of scanning the barcode on my Groupon app for retrieval.
Dinner was very random. I didn’t feel like paying $$$ for a meal, so I packed random snacks to munch on through the night.
First there were the carrots and almond butter I ate in the car right after I parked.
Then there was the pretzels I partially ate while walking to the Amway Center and partially while watching the opening acts.
And the peach I had right before Britney came on stage.
Is that a peach in your pocket or are you just happy to see me? 😉
We had some time to kill before the show and decided to check out the booths a few of the local radio stations had set up.
If you listen to Mix 105.1 and you randomly hear someone shouting into the microphone ‘My name is Meghann from Titusville, Florida and I love the great music on Mix 105.1.’ <– that’s me! 😉
Mix 105.1 was also doing free makeovers!
Can you believe there wasn’t a line?!?
I rarely ever wear make up. I meant to put some on before going to the show, but forgot. The nice artist had a blank canvas to work with and did a fabulous job making me look like I belonged back with the land of the living.
I want to put her in my pocket and bring her out every morning for a little touch up.
With jut a few minutes left until showtime my lovely friend Christie arrived to claim my extra ticket. I’ve known Christie since elementary school and every time we get a chance to hang out it’s a big treat!
Christie and i had seats way in the back of a really odd section. Luckily, after a few texts with Katy we realized her section was in a better location and had empty seats in the front. We snuck over and scored prime seats in the front row! We were still pretty high, but had a direct shot of everything.
Nicki Minaj was the opening act and can you believe I had never heard of her before I saw her name printed on the tickets under Britney’s?
Once the show started I did recognize a few of her songs from Dance Trance, but there’s no way I could’ve ever picked her out in a crowd. I will say she was an awesome performer and the girl can dance!
After Nicki, the countdown for Britney officially began.
Wrong time to hit the bathroom…
Which Britney are you?!?
Amazing. Simply Amazing.
The Femme Fatale Tour has a double agent, almost James Bond like vibe to it. Britney plays an assassin who is captured in the opening number. She escapes, but continues to lead multiple lives as she travels the world undercover. This was the first pop concert I’ve been to – that wasn’t just a band performing – and it was fun to see the story play out through the music.
All of her dances were incredible. A lot of the times I wasn’t sure where to look because so much was going on onstage and I wanted to make sure to keep up. The girl still has some great moves and who ever is in charge of casting her dance crew did a fabulous job.
The outfits were equally as tantalizing and amazing. I loved that Britney was up there in pretty much an itty bitty leotard the whole time. I think there were maybe 6 or 7 costume changes in total?
And – of course – it wouldn’t be Britney with out some bare midriff action. 15 years and 2 kids later and she still has abs. Flaunt it girl!
My inner 13 year old is now happy and content. Just one more thing to check off my lifelong bucket list. Britney Spears concert? Check!
Unfortunately traffic leaving the concert was AWFUL. It took me an hour just to get out of downtown and I still had an hour and a half drive back to Tampa.
I made a pit stop at a 24 hr Starbucks (the ‘Find a Stabucks’ app on the droid ROCKS!) for a little iced coffee and pumpkin bread pick me up.
The drive home was painful, but when I did finally crash in my own bed just after 2:00am it made every thing worth it. Being able to sleep in and not worrying around driving home today made it even better.
Of course someone needs to teach Maddie that when Mama comes home late she wants to sleep in and not take her out to potty at 7:00am.
She learned a long time ago not to wake Derek up. Not fair. I’m such a softy compared to him (who went to bed 2 hours before me and got up an hour after me). Next time I’m just dropping her on top of him and saying ‘it’s your turn.’ Practice makes perfect, right? 😉
I made a bowl of cannoli cereal for breakfast.
- 1/2 cup Erewhon Chocolate Brown Rice Crispies
- 1/2 cup Cinnamon Cheerios
- 1/2 cup Kashi Go Lean Crisp
- Blackberry Jam
- Chocolate Chips
Let’s see if I can make it through the day without a nap. Fingers crossed!
