A Party for Brides

by Meghann on June 12, 2011

Today was all about the brides. ๐Ÿ™‚

My future sister-in-law and sister were all smiles this afternoon for the Perfect Wedding Guide’s Summer Bridal Expo at the Orlando Hilton. They’re both in the midst of wedding planning and the event was advertised as a one stop shop for wedding vendors in the Orlando area. They were eager to learn and the vendors were hungry for business – it was a win win.

The expo itself was a madhouse of free samples, crazy brides, and numbers that made my head spin. (Weddings are expensive!) It was also a huge learning experience of discovering what each bride really wanted and what they didn’t care for.

There was lots of cake

(and cake samples!)

There were caterers

There were drinks!

(Cotton Candy Martinis aren’t quite as tasty without the alcohol. :/ )

And there were photo booths!

There was also venues, DJs, flowers, etc., but obviously I gravitated towards the fun stuff. ๐Ÿ˜‰

We had a blast exploring the expo and even ran into a few people we knew along the way (Orlando is a LOT smaller than people think). Kelly and Ashley didn’t sign on to anything yet, but it did give both of them ideas of what they want for the future. It also taught me that I’m ok not planning a wedding right now. Wedding planning is crazy stuff – I’m just fine being the maid of honor. Bring on the bachelorette party… bring. it. on. ๐Ÿ˜‰

After the expo we were all starving (despite eating our weight in cake and chocolate) and decided to head down the road to Bahama Breeze for a late lunch.

I ordered the Grilled Chicken and Fruit Salad which came with lots of delicious fresh fruit, slivered almonds, and salty goat cheese.

The salad was really good. I’m still feeling dehydrated from yesterday, so the fresh fruit really hit the spot.

I hugged and kissed the brides good bye before heading back to Tampa. Again, the drive was a pleasant one. I’ve made the drive so many times in the past couple of months that it’s starting to become second nature to me. In fact, I’ll be heading back to Orlando this week at some point and then again on Saturday. Such is life.

Once home Derek and I made a simple dinner of roasted veggies with pasta sauce and cheese.

The veggies included brussel sprouts mushrooms, sweet potatoes, and purple potatoes. The cheese was parmesan and the sauce was the Barilla Sweet Pepper.

Simple, but good. The perfect way to end a long day and a good weekend.

Time to unwind in front of the tv.

Let’s go Mavericks! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Hittin’ the Trails

June 12, 2011

It has definitely been a tri-ful weekend. Yesterday we went for a swim and run and today it was all about the bike. Say what you want about triathlon training – and the early mornings or how time consuming it is – but I LOVE it. I couldn’t think of a better way to spend more ยป
