Good Morning!!

Beautiful, no?

I took advantage of the gorgeous weather this morning and did something I’ve been meaning to do for a while now – I went for a run along the popular stretch of Bayshore Boulevard along the water.

Love it!

Bayshore is very popular for runners and cyclists because it’s the longest stretch of uninterrupted sidewalk along the water in the southeast. It really is a gorgeous stretch of road. One direction you’re running straight to downtown and the other you’re heading past South Tampa and the beautiful homes the road houses.

One large drawback is the total lack of shade along the path (a big reason I haven’t been out here before), but usually there’s a nice breeze if you get out early enough. I lucked out with a breeze and water fountains that kept me hydrated and cool on my run.

I even saw a couple of dolphins!

I ran 3 miles, hit downtown, and ran back.

It was a great 6 mile run that flew by. At the end I was sweaty, tired, and content with my early morning accomplishment.

On the way home I stopped for smoothie ingredients.

A smoothie is the one thing that I know will keep me nice and cool while the ac is out.

In the blender I had:

  • Frozen Mango
  • Frozen Pineapple
  • Peanut Flour
  • Chocolate Protein Powder
  • Chia Seeds
  • Xanthum Gum
  • Plain Yogurt
  • Almond Milk

Cold. Refreshing. Perfection.

I topped the smoothie in a bowl with a 1/4 cup of granola and handful of chopped dates.

The smoothie was just what I needed to cool down. If you see another one on here for lunch and dinner – don’t judge – it’s just my way of battling the heat.

The goal today is to spend as much time out of the hot condo as possible and in the cool ac somewhere else. I’m pretty sure the mall has ac… right? πŸ˜‰

Happy Sunday everyone!

That looks like a gorgeous route for a run! Wish I had some water to run by, it’s hard to not enjoy a run when that’s your view.

3 Allison @ Will Run For Candy June 5, 2011 at 10:23 am

Ew, we had to go without AC last summer for a week – I lived off of Popsicles. Hope you can get it fixed soon!

Also, you should try a mango pineapple smoothie with coconut milk. It’s pretty awesome.

4 Caitlin @ TPL June 5, 2011 at 10:23 am

So much fun! I have family that live on bayshore, it’s a gorgeous area! Glad your run was great, have an awesome day!

5 Sarah June 5, 2011 at 10:25 am

That looks like a beautiful running route! I only wish I had somewhere like that to run πŸ™‚

7 Jenny @ Fitness Health and Food June 5, 2011 at 10:44 am

That looks like a wonderful place to run! I feel so lucky to live right on Lake Michigan so I can run along the water every day. We’re moving soon and I don’t know what I’ll do without it! πŸ™

Smoothies are the only way to refuel after a hot run, I’m just finishing mine now πŸ™‚

Oh my that’s gorgeous! I’m so jealous. It’s like your on vacation every day (from my perspective here in Pennsylvania… no water nearby – boo!). You’re lucky to live in such a gorgeous area!

Yes and Tampa has some great malls! I love the international mall. I used to work on a cruise ship out of Tampa and that was our favorite Sunday location besides Target of course!

11 Andrea June 5, 2011 at 10:53 am

That looks beautiful. And dolphins! The only wildlife I see on my runs are the occassional squirrels.

I drove by the Bayshore Blvd when I was in Tampa last year and I thought- that would be a perfect place to run! I am glad you enjoyed it!

Do you have a favorite brand of Protein powder? I have never used it but am thinking about adding it to my smoothies. I tried to find peanut flour at Whole Foods yesterday and they don’t carry it- boo πŸ™

31 Meghann June 6, 2011 at 11:11 am

I was using the Viva protein powder, but I’m out now. My sister loves the Greenwise Chocolate Whey protein powder, so I have plans to pick that up on my next grocery shopping run.

Hi Meghan!

I was just wondering what the purpose of xanthan gum is in your smoothies? πŸ™‚ You’ve probably answered before, but I would love to know.

37 Meghann June 6, 2011 at 11:12 am

It just thickens the smoothie to make it nice and creamy. πŸ™‚
