Happy Wednesday!
Today was a good day to sweat.
60 minute spin class followed by NROLFW 1A. Glorious. π
They’re starting to recognize me at the Y. The lady who takes my card knows my name and has the gist of my routine town and the spin instructor was questioning why I was there early today because it was out of the ordinary for me. I told him if they offered more 6:30am spinning classes then I would be there at 6:30am more often. π
The gym was followed by a big bowl of cereal for breakfast.
- 1/2 cup Kix
- 1/2 cup Kashi Golden Goddess
- 1/4 cup Back to Nature Granola
- Plain Chobani
- Pineapple
Yum!
BIG NEWS
Callie went in labor this morning! It’s baby day! Congrats friends!!
City Bike Tampa just released their June dates for the next Urban Restaurant Tour at the end of this month. Anyone interested?!?!
Last week I had a bad run-in with the scale. I wrote a really emotional post, but never published it. Yesterday I rewrote the post and have it scheduled to go up this afternoon. It’s still emotional and raw, but I think it’s some thing worth sharing. I just wanted to give a heads up for anyone who are sensitive with the scale topic to kindly skip reading this afternoon.
That is all.
π
They always knew me at the gym when I used to go. π I miss going to the gym, but not enough to find and pay for a new gym that actually has childcare.
I look forward to your post this afternoon and I think it’s only going to confirm that I’m a genius for not owning a scale.

Hehe don’t you feel welcome now that you’re a “regular”? π I’m looking forward to reading your post this afternoon! Sometimes I think the best way to get over things like that is just to get your feelings out. π

so many babies! I am getting major baby fever lately, but I need to cool that down for the next 3 years while I finish school π
or I could just bring a baby to class with me, but I’m not sure my 18 year old classmates would like it, they kind of already think I’m old and I’m only 26!!!

I love when the people at the gym actually recognize me! It makes me feel like I belong to something bigger than just an exercise class or the treadmill π
Congrats to your friend!
I can’t wait to read your blog post this afternoon.

When I belonged to the Y, the lady knew my name too. It was always such a welcoming and supportive environment.
I look forward to your post later today. The scale is something that scares us all…

Good work on this morning’s workout! I can’t wait to belong to a gym again–the community aspect is a huge motivator!
I’m really interested to read your post this afternoon. Like every other girl, I’ve had a love/hate relationship with the scale and I’m looking forward to reading your perspective.

Congrats to Callie! π
So sorry you had a tough time with the scale I look forward to reading your post and I am positive that you can move beyond it.
You are such a strong beautiful woman, don’t let numbers define you!
I love when the gym employees know me right away — they don’t even ask to see my card! I haven’t been there forever since I’ve been running outside, but once I start weights again this summer I’ll be there most mornings.

I liked it when people at my gym knew me, but my rec center at school is so huge that I get lost in a crowd. I’m looking forward to this afternoon’s post.

I think you have been looking wonderful and HEALTHY lately. The scale is JUST A NUMBER. and Muscle weighs more than fat!
It feels so good to be recognized by others in the gym! I recently enrolled in a YMCA and they’re already picking up on my schedule. The friendliness makes it that much easier to get in there and go. π

I’m looking forward to following your progress, and thanks for the head’s up on this afternoon’s post.
I’ve been wanting to do City Bike Tampa and both dates are open so far. Hopefully I’ll be out for one if not both!
As for Baby Day, it really is, one of my friends went into labor this morning too π

SOOOO interested in the Urban Restaurant Tour!!! If we had known about it we would have done it last month, too! Bikes + Food is right up our alley. And Ybor is a really neat place to explore.
The lady at the front desk of my gym always greets me with: “Candi! How’s my coffee girl?!”
I work at Starbucks. When I first joined I gave the gym a bunch of lbs of coffee that I had accumulated and wasn’t going to use. I guess it must have left an impression π

I love being a regular at the Y, and I’ve created so many friendships over the years with the members and the staff. And now I’m a staff member too. If I’m going to be a regular anywhere, the gym is the best place!
I look forward to reading your post about the scale. Exposing that side of yourself will make you feel so much better to get it out there.
Andrea @ Run, Eat, Date, Sleep recently posted..FitBlog Planks Challenge
I really need to use my gym membership more often. It seems daunting to have to take 2 buses to get there. Hopefully I’ll get into enough of a routine that it’ll be easy.

I’m definitely a recognizable gym regular during the winter, but once April rolls around I take my workouts outside again–I haven’t visited my gym since the end of March probably but my workouts have stayed very consistent!
However, I need to get back on the gym wagon a bit this summer to visit those weights…I’ve kind of let strength training slide to the back burner. Woops.
I look forward to your post this afternoon–honesty and vulnerability make a blog so personal and very enjoyable to read! Not to mention it is good for us to be open and honest about things that concern us to receive the support we need. π

Ah, I loved when people used to recognize me at school for always being at the gym. Makes it that much more worth it π
I can’t wait to get back to regular gym visits next week.
I will check back this afternoon – I am eager to read your afternoon post.

That’s awesome that they recognize you at the gym now. It is a great motivator when people expect you to be there!
What kind of shorts do you buy to workout in? I always have issues with my shorts riding up but sometimes it is just to hot in the summer not to wear shorts!
Those were Brooks compression shorts. I’m a total florida girl – I find it hard to wear anything but shorts – especially in the summertime!
Haha I love when the people at the gym start to recognize my face and remember my name! How do you feel about it? And I wish I lived in Florida so I could do the Urban Restaurant Tour — it looks like so much fun!
I’ll be back this afternoon — I’ve been following on Twitter, wondering if you were going to post the article. We’re here for you!

I thought that the people at my gym would recognize me by now, but every time I forget my card (which is a little too often), they still ask me for my name so they can type it in the computer. Although a few of the front desk people let me walk right in if I forget my card…so I guess some of them do know me. It’s kind of nice being a regular when it’s at a place that promotes health. The guy at Subway used to know my sandwich…and that’s a little embarrassing :)!

I think it’s great you’re posting it! We’ve all struggled, and continue to struggle, with the idea of weight and our bodies. Sometimes people need to be grounded a little bit and realize, it’s just not the end of the world. I can’t wait to read it!

I also had a bad day with the scale yesterday. I woke up this morning and made the conscious decision to not let it affect me anymore…lots of years of hard work getting to the point where I am able to forget & move forward, but worth it. I hope you are feeling better, and looking forward to reading your post later.

That’s funny – I had quite the emotional revelation with the scale yesterday as well…it led me to realize that I don’t want the dang thing in my life, and I just wrote my own post today about ditching the scale entirely for the month of June. It’s fairly scary, but I hate the attachment to that stupid number that doesnt mean anything anyways! Can’t wait to read what you have to say about it.

Looking forward to the later post: I think you’re brave and courageous to share your story, and I’d imagine there will be nothing but positive responses because you write so well and display such honesty and integrity in your posts.
I look up to you a lot: your half-Ironman training plan looks flawless to me and I have no doubt you’ll put in a brilliant performance.
The peeps at my gym know me so well they give me a band to let me in for a specific class before I even ask at the reception desk…they also know my club booking number off by heart!

Haha. Couldn’t resist being a butt.
I just started NROWL and I thought I was in pretty decent shape. The soreness I felt this week proves otherwise.
Do you feel as B-A as I do lifting the heavy weights?
Hi Meghann!!
I remember a little while back, you made shirts for you and Derek for a road race you were doing together… I can’t recall the exact message, and thought it was cute! I’m making shirts for my boyfriend and I but am having trouble coming up with something funny to put on them regarding running as a couple – have you seen some good ideas out there??
Here’s the link to the post with the shirts http://mealsandmiles.com/2009/10/11/race-for-the-taste-dereks-first-10k/
I need to start taking photos of cute running couple shirts during races so I can remember! when i’m forced to be creative on my own I forget all about them! lol
Are you not IN LOVE with Golden Goddess? I can’t get enough. It’s my new crack. I crave it all the time. Thank God for coupons.
