Back to Work

by Meghann on May 23, 2011

Happy Monday!

And Welcome back from the weekend!

Catching up?

Awesome weekend!

I ended up finishing The New Rules of Lifting For Women on the plane yesterday. I’ll have a full review later this week, but I will say the book inspired me to start the included plan today. It’s a clear plan that I want to incorporate into my Half Ironman training schedule. That will be three days of lifting included on top of everything else. It’s a lot, but with the right balance I know it can work.

Again, I’ll have a full review tomorrow or Wednesday (with more details on the plan), but I was very excited about moving forward with it this morning.

At the gym I started with an interval run on the treadmill.

  • 6.0 for 5 mins
  • 6.5 for 5 mins
  • 8.0 for 1 min (with 1 min break) x4
  • 8.5 for 1 min (with 1 min break) x4
  • 6.5 for 5 mins
  • 6.0 for 5 mins

Then I began Stage 1 Workout A of the NROLFW. So far, so good. πŸ™‚

After the gym I drove to the kennel to pick Miss Maddie up.

How could you not miss this face? I love her so. πŸ™‚

  • 1/2 cup Kashi Puffs
  • 1/2 cup Kashi Go Lean Crisp
  • 1/2 cup Puffins
  • Plain Yogurt
  • Honey Almond Butter
  • Strawberries

Let’s get this Monday started!

I was totally surprised when I started doing weight training 3 days a week, and fell in love with it. Lately things have been so busy with travel I haven’t been able to do it as consistently as normal, and it’s strange that I feel so different now when I can’t do lifting, even for a short period of time! It has given me so much confidence; I feel like a total bad-a**. Holla!

I must pick up this book at the library! I love weight traning but I wonder if I am doing it wrong. I know your sister read this book and a few other bloggers, so maybe I need to give it a whirl!

Looks like a great weekend – I can’t believe it’s over already, but I’m stoked to start the week!

I know I need to incorporate weights into my training, but I really have no clue how to do that! I’m looking forward to your review – maybe it’s the book I need to buy!

Your treadmill workout seems great! And your dog is SO cute! I can’t imagine not eating a little bite before working out…I’d be FAMISHED if I waited until after working out to eat…but I know everyone’s digestive systems and needs are different. πŸ™‚
