Multiple Stops

by Meghann on May 18, 2011

Sometimes the drive between Orlando and Tampa flies… and other times it drraagggsss on.

This afternoon it dragged on. Of course, the multiple stops didn’t help either.

Stop #1: Oil Change (I was afraid to drive my car back home without one) @ Exit 78

This stop included a granola ball.

Stop #2: Best Buy @Exit 55

This is where I spent 30 minutes talking myself into purchasing a new point and shoot camera, only to discover they didn’t have any in stock. They also informed me none of the Best Buys in Tampa do either. Boo. ๐Ÿ™

Stop #3: Xreme Juice @Exit 33

I thought a Carrot/Apple/Parsley Juice seemed more refreshing than iced coffee.

And finally….HOME!

It took a little longer than usual, but at least I made it. ๐Ÿ˜‰

I walked in right around dinner time and decided to pull out the Field Roast Sausages I had picked up at Rollin Oats last week to eat.

I had heard a lot of good things about the faux sausage and really wanted to test them out and see what all the hype was about.

It looked like real sausage. It had the same texture as real sausage. But the flavor was still off. I guess because it was so true to the original in appearance, I thought the taste would be there too. (it wasn’t). I couldn’t decide if I didn’t like the actual taste or if I just didn’t like that it didn’t taste like sausage?

I ended up crumbling the sausage and adding it to some scrambled eggs with onion.

I topped the eggs with salsa and served it a a quartered tortilla and a roasted broccoli/okra/brussels sprouts mix.

The sausage mixed with the eggs was much better than the piece I tried on my own. ๐Ÿ˜‰

A serving of cappuccino chip ice cream for dessert.

Who to follow in Tampa and Orlando

Keep the suggestions on who to follow in other cities around the world in the comments below! I was having technical difficulties this evening and only had time to create a twitter list for Orlando and Tampa.

These are my favorite ‘in the know’ tweeters for both cities. If you ever want to know what’s happening in Orlando or Twitter – these are the tweeters to follow! ๐Ÿ™‚

We’ve been putting off an oil change for weeks and finally got one done this past weekend.

Driving seems to drag especially when all you want is to be home and have dinner

I just avoid faux meet. It has too much stuff in it, but I’ve heard really good things about that sausage. Thanks so much for the review!

I say put together a list of who to follow in Chicago, but perhaps I’m biased!

I still haven’t tried those field sausages yet, they look amazing! ๐Ÿ™‚

I have never heard of such a thing….that is quite interesting ๐Ÿ˜‰ Glad you sorta liked it a certain dish!

I had the same issues trying to buy a camera at both Best Buy and Target — why sell cameras you refuse to keep in stock? I had to put one on hold at the BB about 30 miles from where I live – annoying.

I’m curious to try that sausage. I wasn’t a big fan of sausage before I became a vegetarian, so I don’t know why it looks so good!

Never tried the faux sausages before…. I would never have guessed they werent real sausages just by looking at them. At least the eggs and salsa made them taste ok.

LOL @ your camera story. I find whenever I convince myself to buy something and then discover the item isn’t available, it only intensifies my desire to have it.

The only faux meats I’ve tried are boca burgers and such and I just didn’t like the taste. I’ve never tried any other faux products after that!

21 Katherina @ Zephyr Runs May 19, 2011 at 9:00 am

How much were the juices at Xtreme Juice? I’m looking for a place that’s not a $9 Whole Foods juice or a billion dollar one at Cafe 118*. And good Orlando list, caught a few I didn’t know were on twitter!

25 Meghann May 19, 2011 at 11:22 am

I bought it from a health food store

26 Chez May 19, 2011 at 10:55 am

I eat Field Roast sausage all the time, but I’m not a big fan of that flavor. By far the best one is apple sage – you should give it another chance and try that one. I dice it up and sautee it with diced apples and onions and serve it over couscous or salad greens. It’s SOOOO good. ๐Ÿ™‚

27 Morgan May 19, 2011 at 11:05 am

Hey you should totally invest in a bike rack! You can find one pretty cheap and with all that driving you do, it’d be much easier to travel with. Before I got mine I loathed taking my wheel off and stuffing it in the back of my little honda civic all the time. Pain!

28 Amy @ Love4Living May 19, 2011 at 12:34 pm

I really need to find a good juice spot near my home!
