Home Means…

by Meghann on April 23, 2011

Home means watching a marathon of the DIY network, suggesting to your Mom she take out a wall and her replying she would rather stake out the nearest Lowes until one of the ‘crasher’ teams come and offer to do it for her . Same here, Mom. Same here.

Home means sampling a couple of spoonfuls of Dad’s take on Paula Dean’s recipe for Coffee Floats and remembering his love for Paula Dean is why your pants got tight in the first place.

Home means going to the grocery store with your parents, returning with more groceries than you typically buy in a week, and running into half the town while you’re at it.

Home means an un-ending supply of cashews to snack on before dinner.

Home means Dad’s home cooking – pork tenderloin, roasted veggies, and steamed green beans. AKA comfort food. πŸ™‚

Home means Mom lets you pick out the wine.

but, you pick out what the boy would prefer anyways.

Home means dinner time lasts two hours because you’re too busy talking to realize the time has passed.

Home means finishing off a second bottle of wine with the ones you love.

Home means Dad makes brownies for no reason at all.

Home means setting the alarm for 5:15am for an early run with your little brother.

Home is my favorite place to be. πŸ™‚

And I love your dad’s love for Paula Deen. He should get his own Food Network show. I’d watch it!

Going home is the best πŸ™‚ I’m not going home this year for Easter and seeing everyone’s trips home is certainly reminding me I made the wrong decision. :-/ Oh well, I’ll live through everyone’s amazing meals and trips!

Great post! Though I’ve lived on my own for about 6 years now, I still consider my parents’ house to be “home”.
