Morning Boot Camp

I think I just found a new reason to love my new porch.


Hello perfect place for an at-home morning boot camp! πŸ™‚

This morning I set my mat out with weights, an ipad stop watch, and went at it.


The bonus was being able to watch Maddie roam free in the backyard. Her circle running antics were 10 times more entertaining than watching the stop watch tick by. πŸ™‚


It was also nice to get some fresh air and enjoy the cool morning breeze.

I started with a 20 minute cardio warm up consisting of:

  • Jumping Jacks
  • High Knees
  • Butt Kicks
  • Front Punches
  • Skaters
  • Twists
  • Round Kicks
  • Squats
  • Pushups

Then moved on to two separate sets of Self tears that I repeated twice.


It was a really nice, strength training work out that had me starting my day with a smile. πŸ™‚

I came back inside for breakfast and prepared a simple meal of Irish Soda Bread and Fruit Salad.


I’m a sucker for seasonal baked goods, so when I saw the Irish Soda Bread at Whole Foods yesterday I had to purchase a loaf. Smeared with some Vanilla Peanut Butter – it was the perfect breakfast component. πŸ™‚


Strawberries + Pineapple + Vanilla Yogurt + Kashi Go Lean Crisp (for a little crunch)

Who caught last night’s episode of Glee?!?! I caught up this morning and am already obsessed with the ‘Loser Like Me’ song. Such a great episode!

YUM! Vanilla pb sounds awesome.. I’ve never seen it in stores but I might just have to add a little vanilla bean paste into my Maranatha jar! Sounds like you had a great workout. I ripped out those cards from Self too! Hope you have a great day singing along to Glee tunes. πŸ™‚

It’s the Naturally Nutty Vanilla Peanut Butter. I found it at a local health store, but I know you can order it online (though that’s not a cheap option πŸ™ ) Let me know how adding the vanilla paste works out!!

I really liked Glee! I liked that Loser Like Me song too! I think Blaine has such a GREAT voice! πŸ™‚ I like when they cover songs as opposed to doing originals though.

I love doing cardio workouts like your warmup — it goes by so quick and my heart rate is just pumping out of my chest.

I can’t believe that I have never seen an episode of Glee despite all the hype surrounding the show. I’m thinking I will netflix them asap.

I LOVED last night’s Glee episode!! It was so good and Rachel killed it in the opening number of Regionals. One of my fav original songs was “Trouty Mouth” because it was just so ridiculous.

I used to love doing those Self workouts! Such a great way to get a bit of strength exercising in when you can’t get to a gym. πŸ™‚

I love the plate the bread is on, it’s so pretty. It’s awesome that you can just whip out a bootcamp. I don’t think I could do it alone I don’t have enough motivation

Your boot camp sounds fun! My dog runs laps in the house when I do boot camps moves, I think she wants to keep me company πŸ™‚ Also, the baby thinks it’s funny!

I live smack dab in the heart of DC but am lucky enough to have a huge outdoor patio. It is my absolute favorite place to do pilates and stretch when it’s warm outside!

I love seasonal breads too! Irish soda bread is an all time favorite.

I watched Glee last night but I wasn’t a fan off their own songs. I like it better when I know them and listen to their version of a song! Vanilla pb sounds so good!

I am so jealous of your ability to do strength training in the morning. I can do some light cardio, but never running or strength training.

I wouldn’t call Kashi Go Lean Crisp granola. It’s a light and crispy cereal that’s not quite as hearty and chewy as granola, but packs a little less of a calorie punch. It’s definitely my favorite granola replacement. πŸ™‚

What’s the name of the iPad stopwatch app you use? I’ve been doing circuit workouts lately since I have a stress fracture from running πŸ™ and I’ve used my phone but it’s annoying since I have to reset it every time!

It’s the Clock Pro app. It was one of the first ones that popped up when I searched for stop watch in the app store.

Awesome to be able to work out outside with some distractions so the minutes don’t go slowly by. I love soda bread…I guess I should try to get my hands on some for tomorrow!
