Shopping Spree-ing

by Meghann on March 6, 2011

Lowes… Target… Publix… Petco… I’ve seen them all today.

And they all took my money.

People warned me moving was going to expensive, what I didn’t realize was that it’s actually the day following a move that’s really expensive. In order to make everything fit, a little organization via new shelves, hooks, and basket was required. Don’t worry, I plan to share all the new purchases in good time. ๐Ÿ˜‰

I can give you a sneak peak at the paint samples (!!) we picked up for the living room.

They’re all shades of green, but for some reason the phone camera tinted them blue?

Our shopping spree led us to Grille One Sixteen, where Derek’s brother Tyler is a server.

Fun Story: Tyler was standing at the hostess stand last night, when Cameron Diaz and A-Rod walked in for dinner. It took him a minute to pick his jaw off the floor, but he eventually sat them and immediately called Derek to share the news.

Tyler has been working at Grille One Sixteen for a few months now, but this was the first chance I’ve had to eat there. The strip mall location is a little deceiving. Inside it’s all swank and class with a great menu and, of course, a great staff.

Tyler started us off with his famous mojitos. That boy knows how to make a mean drink! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Grille One Sixteen is famous for their $5 lunchtime burgers. They’re big, juicy and come with a plateful of heavily seasoned fries. If you have a hankering for a giant, cheap burger – this is your place.

Derek gobbled his burger up and shared a bite – plus some fries – but I wasn’t in the mood for a giant burger when it came time to order. Instead I asked for the Soup & Salad combo.

The soup was a cup of rich and creamy Potato Soup.

See those chunk of potatoes? Love!

The salad was a fresh house salad of mixed greens, beets, carrots, almond slivers, and dried cranberries.

Fresh and flavorful. Exactly what I was craving. ๐Ÿ™‚

Lunch was great. Thanks for the great service Tyler! ๐Ÿ™‚

Our shopping spree-ing continued until late in the afternoon. When we did make it home I had an apple and peanut butter to appease my sweet tooth.

And even though the fridge is now full…

(have you ever seen a more beautiful sight than a stocked fridge?)

…when the time came to make dinner I had no energy – or desire – to put anything together. Our kitchen is still a mess (we compromised and are installing some extra storage shelves in the garage for miscellaneous items soon – yippee!) and my brain turned to mush after spending a few hours knee deep in clothes and baskets in my closet (more to come on that later this week).

I’m hoping my cooking mojo returns soon, but until then a black bean wrap with pretzels does the trick.

The black bean wrap turned into a black bean mess. The wrap gave way to the wet beans and carrots and I ended up eating the majority of it with a fork. Still good, just messy.

The other week I had the most amazing pretzels at my parents’ house. They’ve been on my mind ever since and when I spotted them at Publix today I had to buy a bag of my own.

Still amazing. Especially with mustard. You can’t forget the mustard when eating good pretzels! ๐Ÿ˜‰

I think one of my favorite parts about living with a boy is going to be having someone to share cookie with. Specifically Girl Scout Cookies.

I enjoy a serving to satisfy my craving.

And he eats the rest. Win. Win. ๐Ÿ˜‰

This weekend really flew by. Let’s hope the week goes a little slower. I have lots and lots to share with you!

Until then… Good Night!

Maddie’s New Home

March 6, 2011

Maddie found a new favorite spot. ๐Ÿ™‚ Derek sold his sectional last week and we’re putting off new couches until the living room is painted (crossing my fingers this will happen this week), so all we have in the living room right now is Derek’s recliner that once belonged to his Grandmother and is older more ยป
