It’s Gone!

by Meghann on March 1, 2011

It’s gone! The couch and chair are gone!

A sweet elderly couple came by and picked them up this afternoon for a bargain price of $50!

Want to sell things quick on Criagslist? List them for uber cheap and be honest in the posting (mine even mentioned the 12 lb Jack Russell that loved to call the couches bed).

I’m pretty sure that Jack Russell is still in denial that the couches are gone. Maddie spent all afternoon on my bed and refuses to join me in the box heavy living room.

Poor thing. She knows something is up, but hasn’t figured it out yet. :/

While the couch is now gone, the pile of stuff to donate is slowly growing.

I’m still trying to figure out the best place to take everything. Any suggestions?

I set up shop this afternoon outside at Starbucks (I’m obsessed!) with an Unsweet Passion Fruit Tea and Cereal Mix with Almonds.

I caved on the way home and stopped at Publix for some dinner fix-ins’. I just didn’t have it in me to produce something random from the pantry, so I picked up a can of soup and sweet potato.

Aww… a real meal. Sort of.

Microwave Baked Sweet Potato with Blue Cheese.

Amy’s Canned Soup.

The best part about this meal was that it made just enough for one person and required little to now dishes to produce. Score!

For dessert I dug a piece of Pumpkin Bread out of the freezer (I still randomly have a couple of more pieces in there from a loaf I purchased last month) and smeared it with Dark Chocolate Dreams Peanut Butter and fresh strawberries.

One of my first missions when I move to Tampa will be to go strawberry picking in Plant City. Whose game? ๐Ÿ™‚

*Spoiler Alert* I may or may not of had a little too much fun adding Spice Girl Music to the video. ๐Ÿ˜‰

The interview I did with Dr. Fitness & Fat Guy is up for your listening pleasure as well.

Apparently my followers remember my anniversary dates more than I do.

She was right!

Three years ago today I ran my first 5k with my sister by my side! Seems so long ago, but I guess it really wasn’t. Crazy how time flies!

You can find the complete story of my first 5k HERE.

When I lived in FL, I loved those Plant City strawberries! ๐Ÿ™‚

I’ve been Craigslisting today too. Got rid of several things. Cha-ching! ๐Ÿ˜‰

I have that same little Tupperware container. It’s the perfect size for nuts, as 1/4 cup is usually the normal serving size!

Congrats on selling your furniture. I bet the move is really starting to feel real now!

Downsizing before a move such a great idea.

As for donating stuff… Call local churches and shelters and ask if they can use it or suggest where you can bring it.

That is so cool, and funny that you forgot about your 5k anniversary. Dinner looks really good, but Maddie looks so confused. Poor thing.

11 ariel @B-More Ariel March 1, 2011 at 10:47 pm

for donations: I would suggest donating to some sort of church in the area for the sole reason you know they will just give the stuff out to people who need it as opposed to making a profit on it like Salvation army or a Thrift Store. =)

And yummy! You made me crave a sweet potato. haha!

I love selling stuff on Craigslist — I have had such good experiences with doing that. The nicest people have bought some of my things, so it feels good to get rid of them!

Soup/sweet potato is such a great meal and so easy too. I’ve never tried bleu cheese on one though — I’m not sure how I feel about that!

Tax-deduction wise, your best bet is probably the Junior League Bargain Box in Winter Park (on Canton & Virginia). They give away a lot of what’s received to people in need, and any money the store does make goes to fund Junior League projects — in Orlando, all projects are focused on childhood health, hunger, and poverty.

This instantly reminded me of “stuff white people like” because they recently listed picking fruit to their ever-growing list. I love picking fruit too, especially strawberries and blueberries.

I would just take your donations to your closest Goodwill or Salvation Army.

I read all the time and thought I’d ask a couple of budget questions because I’m always looking for tips! Are you splitting rent with Derek when you move? Also have you saved money from your job, or do you take in enough with your blog and other projects to keep up your normal lifestyle? Thanks!
