Beauty and the Beast was awesome!
I love broadway shows. I love Disney movies. Clearly this was a match made in Meghann heaven. 😉
I can still remember going to see Beauty and the Beast for the first time as a little girl when it was first released and instantly falling in love with Belle and her beautiful singing voice. There was actually a time when my 8 year old self begged my Mom to change my name to Belle, so I could have a name that meant ‘beauty’ as well. Alas, she never did, but it never stopped me from secretly introducing myself as Belle to new friends.
The broadway adaptation was spot on. It gave a fun new feel to the story line, kept all my favorite songs, and even added a few new ones. Derek had stopped me form singing along the entire time.
Going to see Beauty and the Beast was particularly interesting last night as I recently just finished watching the documentary “Waking Sleeping Beauty.” If you’re a Disney movie fanatic or a child of the later 80s/ early 90s I would highly suggest adding it to your NetFlix queue. The documentary highlights the revival of Disney animation in the early 90s with Little Mermaid, Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast, etc. The movie focuses a lot of Beauty and the Beast and the creator’s journey to perfect the story of my favorite movie. Unfortunately he passed away before the film was officially released to the public. I can only imagine how proud he would be that his songs and adaptation of the film are now touring the country on stage. 🙂
I really love the theater. And Disney. Maybe one day Lion King or the new Little Mermaid Musical will find their way to my neck of the woods. 🙂
Last night Derek turned our theater outing into a fun date night that began with dinner at J. Alexanders.
(I promise I’m wearing a dress. It must have rode up when I got out of the car. :/ )
I had never been to J. Alexander’s before and it has been out ‘must eat’ list for a while.
We each began with a glass of Cabernet.
The menu was heavy on the meat and heavy on the price, but I wasn’t there for any of that.
A little birdie told me J. Alexander’s had the world’s best veggie burger and I certainly couldn’t pass up the world’s best veggie burger, could I?
She was right. The veggie burger was made up of real beans and veggies and crumbled beautifully with every bite. It also had a nice grill flavor that let me know it was actually cooked on the grill and not in a deep fryer or microwave.
On the side I had grilled zucchini which were just as fantastic. 🙂
The show got out late, but luckily I had dessert waiting at home.
My Peanut Butter Sweet! Cupcake had made the journey to Tampa with me and Derek was kind enough to split it after the show.
Wow! Rich, moist, and delicious. We both gave it two thumbs up. 🙂
This morning I pulled myself out of the nice warm bed to knock 3 miles out before our breakfast plans we have with Derek’s brother and girlfriend. Speaking of those plans… I’ve got to jet!
Have a great Sunday everyone!!
