Oh, God. I can’t believe I’m about to post this. *gulp*
I’ve been writing this blog for over two years and in that time, probably one of my most frequently asked questions has been ‘What’s on your running playlist?’ Runners crave great, fast paced, heart pumping songs and always look towards other runners for that one song that may motivate them all the way to a new PR.
I am not that other runner. My playlists have always been somewhat embarrassing. I’m not into music. At all. I tend to enjoy mainstream pop, country, and musicals. I do not enjoy rap, techo, and hard core punk/rock songs. I learned long ago to keep my ipod playlist as secretive and hidden as possible, as to avoid why I should not be listening to so and so and how I should be listening to so and so instead. What if I don’t like so and so? I like songs that are fun to sing to, not ones that give me headaches.
However, this Saturday I was particularly proud of my marathon playlist. The songs played out beautifully and really helped me zone out when I needed it. There was a mix of fast pace, upbeat songs. As well as songs that told stories and encouraged me to listen in on instead of concentration on how much my legs hurt.
I hope this playlist encourages a few of you, just as it encouraged me. 😉
A couple of favorites of the race:
- Totally F****d – Spring Awakening Soundtrack
- Should’ve Said No – Taylor Swift
- Not Afraid – Eminem
- You Can’t Stop the Beat – Hairspray
As you can see, I have the music taste of a 12 year old drama nerd – and I wouldn’t change that for a minute. 😉
Let me know if you have any questions on a particular song. I was going to create an iMix, but my inability to connect to the internet at home last night prevented that. 🙁
Lunch
Can we say random array of foods or what?
A split open pita with Brie, Salmon, and Capers.
Sweet Potato Fries
Ricotta Cheese with Honey, Pom, and Chocolate Chips
Yep – random!
