Oh Christmas Tree

by Meghann on December 6, 2010

I feel a little behind the ball, but I finally put my tree up this evening.

I went back and forth on putting the tree up. I mean, no one really comes to my apartment and it’s such a hassle to get everything out just to be put away in another month. But alas I went in my storage closet to grab some wrapping paper and before I knew it I was getting the tree out and putting ornaments up.

Now that it’s up, I’m happy to see all my favorite ornaments up once again. Each one is filled with memories and every year I like to add one or two at a time to build to my collection.

I also liking having somewhere to store presents.

I wonder what it could be? πŸ˜‰

This afternoon i had a delicious snack of carrots and peanut butter.

For dinner I made some Ricotta Fritters a la RhodeyGirl Tests.

They were perfect – creamy and salty on the inside and nice and crispy on the outside – paired with a random salad of spinach, pom, pecans, onions, mushrooms, and a homemade dressing of apple butter, evoo, and balsamic vinegar.

For dessert a Reeses Nutrageous Bar.

I would not like to admit how long this has been in my fridge. I’ve been saving it for a special occasion and what better occasion is there than running a sub-4 hour marathon the day before. πŸ˜‰

Time to get back to my present wrapping and Christmas music listening. Anyone else obsessed with the Glee Christmas Cd? I CAN NOT wait for the Christmas episode tomorrow! Eekk!!!!

Merry Christmas to youuuuu sub 4 hour marathonnnnnn!

Thanks for trying my “recipe” !!!!

I debated putting up our tree too, but we did it the day after Thanksgiving. If we are going to put it up I insist on it lasting as long as possible!

Can’t wait for Glee.. I watch it on Hulu since I can’t get Trig to watch it so I’ll have to wait for Wednesday! Oh the horror!

I LOVE the Glee Christmas–the station on Pandora is pretty good too! Their version of Deck the Halls is the best πŸ™‚

14 Mimi December 6, 2010 at 11:34 pm

I’m the same way about telling myself I “don’t want to hassle with things” and then being totally grateful when I do.

P.S. How’s Maddie?

Maddie is all better now. I think the cold spell outside just threw her off. πŸ™‚

We’re not doing a tree this year (we’re not sure how the dog will react), so our house is rather sad and bare. πŸ™ But I do love nutrageous! They were my favorite candy bar back in junior high!

I say you’re totally on the ball with getting your tree up πŸ™‚ Once my sister & I went away to college, my parents started waiting until we came home in December to do the tree (my Mom is against putting it up the weekend after Thanksgiving, and it is a nice family tradition to do it together)! AND you have presents wrapped all ready– you go girl!

27 Samantha Angela @ Bikini Birthday December 7, 2010 at 8:51 am

Can you leave your gifts under the tree without Maddie chewing away at them? My dog is about the same age as Maddie and she goes CRAZY for paper. We can’t keep gifts under the tree because she’d unwrap them in a minute.

28 Meghann December 7, 2010 at 11:04 am

Maddie is fine with the presents as long as they’re not for her. However, if I wrap a bone and put it under the tree she thinks it’s fair game.

29 Rachel @Balance and Blueberries December 7, 2010 at 9:07 am

Glee Christmas CD!? Are you serious!? That makes my day. I’m downloading it immediately. I love Glee. Inevitably, at least one Glee songs makes its way through the earbuds each run πŸ™‚

I feel the same way about the tree – it’s just me and nobody ever comes over, so it’s not worth the hassle.

32 Cynthia December 7, 2010 at 1:06 pm

I got the Glee Christmas CD about a week or so ago. It is awesome! I am pretty much obsessed with it too.

Is your family doing that thing where you all go to each other’s houses to see the decorations this year?

Very festive!! I have a little studio apartment so there really isn’t much room for a tree. I wish there was though, I think it would make the whole being away from home (for grad school) at the time leading up to the holidays more special! Ahh well, I’ll live vicariously through others πŸ™‚
