Dear Santa

by Meghann on November 29, 2010

Dear Santa,

Hi Santa! I hope all is well in the North Pole! I just wanted to drop you a note and let you know it’s that time of year again. The shops are buzzing with ‘crazy deals,’ twinkle lights are flying off the shelves left and right, my snowflake obsession is back in full force, and I bet you and the elves are up to your eyeballs in work. Yep, it’s Christmas time. (as if you would forget!)

Now before you say anything I want to assure you I’ve been a very good girl this year. I make sure to floss and brush my teeth every night, I say please and thank you when applicable, and I always play nice with my brothers and sisters. Scouts honor! Feel free to ask them yourself!

I know your busy with the elves and gathering up presents to be shipped all around the world, but if you have a minute my Christmas wish list below. No pressure or anything – just a few odds and ends that I don’t necessarily need, but would definitely  LOVE to have waiting for me under the tree on Christmas morning. 😉

1. Nike Essentials Woman’s Running Base Layer

This shirt is a replica of my Chicago Marathon Shirt (which I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE)

2. Adobe PhotoShop Elements

61SC2Pbc aL._AA1001_

A little birdie told me this program was AWESOME at editing photos.

3. Soda Stream

This would be great for satisfying my sparkling water obsession and could possibly save me tons of $$ in the long run.

4.  Indoor Bicycle Trainer

A bicycle trainer is really the ideal gift for any aspiring half ironman triathlete. This will save me from having to ride my bicycle in the dark after work by myself. (scary)

5. Jillian Michaels: Six Week 6-Pack

BIG fan of Jillian Michaels and would love to take on her Six Week 6-Pack Challenge.

6. Jillian Michaels: Shred-It with Weights

After having success with her 30 Day Shred, I would love to take advantage of her next installment.

7. Kettlebells

To go with the Shred-It DVD

8. Balega Enduro Ladies Running Socks

Love the ONE pair I own, but they’re looking a little dingy and I could always use more socks in my life. 😉

9. Garmin Wrist Fastener

My current Garmin Wrist Fastener is falling a part at the seams. I’ve been drooling over this easy to fasten velcro version for a while now.

10. 1 TB External Hard Drive

Because you never know when those backed up files will come in handy.

Of course Santa, these are merely suggestions. Feel free to be creative. 😉

Until next year my friend!

p.s. What are you asking for this year?!?

1 Kelly November 29, 2010 at 1:53 pm

I love the Balegas too! And my socks always seem to start looking dingy after two or three wears. I guess that’s the price you pay for running dirt trails. My knees will thank me later. Hope Santa brings you what you want! 😉

2 Brittney November 29, 2010 at 1:56 pm

Nice list! Just made one for my hubby. It includes a Dachshund ornament, cool/feminine camera bag, The Kind Diet, a yoga mat bag, and immersion hand blender.

3 Meghann November 29, 2010 at 3:19 pm

And now I want a Maddie ornament.

4 Laura November 29, 2010 at 1:56 pm

I’m very sweetly asking Santa for a new Nikon dSLR! I’m very excited (assuming he comes through, of course)

5 kristy @ November 29, 2010 at 1:58 pm

Omg! Good list! I want the indoor bike trainer! Genius! 🙂

6 Amber from Girl with the Red Hair November 29, 2010 at 2:03 pm

I totally asked for running socks too – you can never have too many pairs 🙂

7 Marina November 29, 2010 at 2:03 pm

Nice list!
I would like to get wii fit, maybe some nice workout clothes, and maybe something for the kitchen 😀

8 Amanda (Eating Up) November 29, 2010 at 2:04 pm

I’m asking for luggage! Christmas presents are so much fun when you’re an adult. 😛

9 Meghann November 29, 2010 at 3:19 pm

Dude, I think they’re even MORE fun when you’re an adult! I would get excited if I got new luggage for Christmas!

10 Kath Younger November 29, 2010 at 2:06 pm

Elements is 50% off today with coupon code SAVE2010.

I wouldn’t know 😉

11 Meghann November 29, 2010 at 3:18 pm

I saw that too! but I think Derek already bought it.

12 grocery goddess jen November 29, 2010 at 2:07 pm

What a great list. I hope your family and Derek all read your blog and see it!

I have no idea what’s on my list…I just ordered my own Christmas gift to myself, a laptop, and that was the main thing I wanted!

13 Sarah for Real November 29, 2010 at 2:07 pm

Bathrobe, Tea, Slippers… Pretty much anything lazy/warm related.

14 Alina (Duty Free Foodie) November 29, 2010 at 2:25 pm

I would like a couple of days with an organization consultant in order to help me declutter all the stuff I already own (and probably didn’t really need to buy). I’ve been procrastinating on this forever!

The perfect present for me right now would be a plane ticket somewhere warm for a week or so.

15 Evan Thomas November 29, 2010 at 2:25 pm

Something tells me this is going to be very helpful for a certain boyfriend
At the top of my list is a DSLR!

16 Lisa (bakebikeblog) November 29, 2010 at 2:29 pm

oooh yes – a windtrainer would be awesome!!!!

17 Jory November 29, 2010 at 2:29 pm

You’ll have a love/hate relationship with your trainer if santa brings it to you. Take it from a cyclist who lives in an area that gets snow all winter. On another note, my mom has the soda stream and it’s good stuff!

18 Kate November 29, 2010 at 2:32 pm

A new camera!

19 Angela @ Eat Spin Run Repeat November 29, 2010 at 2:34 pm

I think a lot of bloggers could use an extra hard drive!! On my list is a DSLR and a lot of Lululemon!! 🙂

20 Sarah @ Going on Goals November 29, 2010 at 2:49 pm

I also asked for an external hard-drive. Anyone have a preference between the Western Digital above and a Seagate?

21 Carolyn @ Lovin' Losing November 29, 2010 at 2:55 pm

I have the bike trainer on my list, too! I know I’ll want to do another triathlon in the spring and riding a bike in winter is NOT the same as running in winter. Can you say wind burn? 🙁 I haven’t heard good things about Jillian’s kettlebell DVD. There’s a lot of murmurings about bad technique and being easily injured if you follow her lead. Something to think about.

22 Amy November 29, 2010 at 2:56 pm

I am asking for the same bike trainer! I have the Jillian Shred it with weights dvd and LOVE IT!!

23 alison November 29, 2010 at 2:58 pm

Honestly, how selfish can you be?

There are way more important things in the world than getting expensive exercise apparel/equipement. Maybe you should focus on more those things, and leave the obnoxious gift requesting for children.

24 Meghann November 29, 2010 at 3:15 pm

Yes, I know there are more important things out there than expensive exercise apparel/ equipment. This list is just for fun and is not to be taken seriously. Sometimes we all need to take a step away from being an adult for a minute and remember what it’s like to believe in Santa. 🙂

25 Rebecca November 29, 2010 at 3:46 pm

Amen to that Meghann! Plus the gift giving/shopping/exchanging is a family tradition for me and my adult siblings and I especially enjoying getting the extra time with the significant others who I may not know quite as well as the blood siblings!

26 alison November 29, 2010 at 3:56 pm

pretty sure you wouldn’t have posted this without at least hoping someone would buy these things for you :-/

27 Meghann November 29, 2010 at 3:59 pm

That’s true too. But my family members ask for Christmas lists every year and I ask for ones from them too! This is just my fun way of sharing that list with my readers. Do I expect to get everything on it? heck no. But what’s wrong with hoping and crossing my fingers for at least one cool thing on it?

28 Lacey @ Lake Life November 30, 2010 at 11:04 pm

Haha maybe you should have added “World Peace” to the end of your list like on Miss Congeniality lol.

I bet Alison’s a Jehovah’s Witness 😉

Would you feel differently Alison if she phrased it as “10 Great Gift Ideas for the Runner in your life?”

Just curious

30 breakingsilence @ Freshman -15 November 29, 2010 at 10:32 pm

Alison, I have one thing to say to you: Bah humbug.

Meghann, your list is great!

there is so much to christmas…gifts just happen to be a part of it. giving and getting.

32 Halley (Blunder Construction) November 29, 2010 at 3:03 pm

You don’t have to worry about the elves running out of anything on your list – at least not if you’re name comes after mine on the list! Kettle bells for Christmas?!?! Maybe you got confused with jingle bells??

33 Allie November 29, 2010 at 3:06 pm

What a cute Santa list!! Made me smile 🙂 I’m asking for a pet turtle for Christmas 😀

34 Clare @ Fitting It All In November 29, 2010 at 3:09 pm

I want a Road ID, some new running tights, etc!
I was considering that soda stream, but I’m not sure if it would be the same as my LaCroix cans. Can you do the natural fla voring?

35 Meghann November 29, 2010 at 3:17 pm

I know they have the ‘soda flavorings’ but I’m not sure about natural flavorings. I would just love to have plain sparkling water. 🙂

36 Ali November 29, 2010 at 4:41 pm

Ohh I also want a Road ID! You just reminded me 🙂

37 Mimi November 29, 2010 at 4:45 pm

Can you let me know if you find out about the natural flavoring? I can’t stand pure sparkling water, but I also don’t want a bunch of chemicals!

I am asking for a Vitamix blender. I’ve been asking non-stop, poor husband. I try to tell him it will benefit him too! Homemade goodies, what more could he want?? Workout clothes are on the list too.

40 Colleen November 29, 2010 at 3:11 pm

Had a Canon DSLR on my list and hubby bought it for me on Friday. I knew I loved that man for a reason.

41 Meghann November 29, 2010 at 3:18 pm

That’s a good man!

42 Amy November 29, 2010 at 3:12 pm

I’m really hoping Santa brings ms a dSLR. *swoon*

43 Matt November 29, 2010 at 3:17 pm

Totally just sent my mom an email about that bike trainer 😉

44 breakingsilence @ Freshman -15 November 29, 2010 at 3:24 pm

I want a new camera…not picky as to what type, just any new camera will do…*daydreams*

45 Dynamics November 29, 2010 at 3:30 pm

Meghann, Just for your info, letters get lost in the mail. Santa has so many coming his way this time of year. You may want to pop into your local mall and sit on his lap and tell him personally. Better chance of getting everything on your list. It would be a shame if come Xmas morning all you have under the tree is underwear.

46 Emily November 29, 2010 at 3:39 pm

I always go for brightly colored running socks (my Balegas are neon green) because it seems to keep the dinginess at bay. And, my liquid bike trainer is awesome, but definitely ask for a netflix subscription too, because it’s goes by much more slowly than outdoor riding!

I asked for a new gym/work bag with LOTS of pockets. They are so hard to find though… any suggestions? I really want something that looks professional/stylish.

47 Meghann November 29, 2010 at 4:24 pm

I use my Vera Bradley bag for the gym and it’s starting to smell, so I’m not much help there. 😉

And trust me I already have that netflix subscription covered!

48 jessica December 2, 2010 at 7:18 am

FYI you can wash vera bradley bags in the washing machine. Just turn it inside out and wash on delicated/cold.

49 Ashley November 29, 2010 at 3:58 pm

I want vibrams *swoon*, an ipod adapter for my car, and a dlsr

50 Joy November 29, 2010 at 4:17 pm

I hope you get everything on your list!
So what if she is posting what she wants? It’s helpful to my hubster too since I said to him idk what kind but I want a bike trainer… So thanks to meghann who researched I can give him a brand and not send him blind to the store!

51 Kristin November 29, 2010 at 4:19 pm

Hey! I think its great for adults to make a list too! And since you are a major exerciser there is nothing wrong with asking for expensive exercise equipment. Sheesh! LOL I like your list Meghann it gives me ideas for my own!

52 Ali November 29, 2010 at 4:40 pm

So far everyone I’ve heard from has loved their Chicago Marathon shirts so thanks for posting the list. That is definitely going on my Christmas list now. Also on my list, a gym membership! I already signed up for one, but as a grad student don’t have a whole lot of extra cash laying around. My parents are going to help me out on that for a Christmas present 🙂

53 Karen November 29, 2010 at 4:42 pm

Oh Alison…. You can’t be serious.

Love the list. My husband just asked me what I wanted for Christmas so I might need to come up with a list of my own!

54 Lauren November 29, 2010 at 4:58 pm

Ohhh, I bought a bike trainer on Black Friday for over $100 off. It’s pretty awesome! I can’t wait to watch trashy tv and ride, all in my living room.

55 Biz November 29, 2010 at 5:09 pm

That kettlebell routine from Jillian is on my exercise on demand – however, I’ve read that during the dvd, she doesn’t use the kettlebells correctly – you may want to check out reviews, just sayin. 😀

I still want kettlebells though!

I guess Alison needs to criticize everyone who has ever made a wishlist on Amazon or Pottery Barn or any other website out there. Don’t we all do this?

58 Ashley November 29, 2010 at 10:16 pm

Agreed! I was just going to put that. Just for fun, husband and I have Amazon lists. Sometimes it’s just as much fun putting something on your wish list as it is putting it in your shopping cart.

59 Lacey @ Lake Life November 30, 2010 at 11:11 pm

Alison would think I’m the devil. I emailed my list to my mom last night, complete with pics…and I’m 29! 🙂

I already know what my “big” Christmas present is this year (a laptop), mainly because it’s our gifts to each other. We usually pick out a big ticket item every year that we really want/need, and then get a few smaller gifts.
I’m really really really hoping for an Ipod Shuffle. I love listening to music when I run, and right now am using the Pandora app on my phone. I’ll be training for a half in January, and I would LOVE to be able to pick exactly what songs I want to hear and not rely on the randomness of it. 🙂

PS – I see nothing wrong with posting a wish list. I wonder if she gives the brides to be that make a registry at Bed Bath and Beyond a hard time too?? :-p

Don’t let Jillian be your only Kettlebell dvd/instructor. Her form is terrible. I promise. 🙂 Find an RKC or Kettlebell Concepts certified instructor in your area, even if you only train with them for a little bit, to make sure you know proper form and how much weight to swing!

And I too want Kettlebells for Christmas! My brother just gifted me his 35 pounder that he left at my parents house…I’m hoping to get a few more!

Pffft, someone is not in the Christmas spirit up there. Since when does making a list for Christmas mean you are ignoring the bigger problems?!

My mom still asks for Christmas lists from my brother, sis-in-law, and me. Not only that, but she actually prefers the list to be totally exact like yours, including pictures and where she can find the item. On my list this year? A new iPod because mine is slowly dying, a nook, and some kitchen gadgets. I’m hoping the birthday fairy brings me a new DSLR.

This is the first year where I’m literally asking for nothing specific. Uncreative? What is wrong with me!

My boyfriend and I already exchanged gifts (we do it early), and I ended up getting some cool (warm, actually!) running gear, books, diamond and pearl earrings, and two nights at the Biltmore while we’re in Miami. On a more boring note, I’ve told my parents that the only thing I want is money…I’m going to be traveling for two weeks after Christmas, and don’t have space to lug gifts around. Money is such a boring gift, but it’s always useful!

I also asked for them to make a donation in my name to the Humane Society. Always important to remember our furry companions this time of year. 🙂

So, long story short, my list is pretty limited.
