Confession: I’m not the best runner when it comes to purchasing new running shoes.
It has been months since I purchased my last pair (on July 5th to be exact) and I could definitely feel the need for a new pair.
My Brooks Glycerin 8s were as great of shoes as any runner could hope for. They were with me as I traveled to Chicago, New York, Colorado, Ft. Lauderdale, Myrtle Beach, Charlottesville, San Francisco, etc. They pushed me through three 5ks, a 10k, and a 15k. Heck they were even with me as I crossed the finish line at the Chicago Marathon last month! They were great shoes and they will be missed!
They were so great in fact, that I decided to order the exact same shoe all over again.
Only this time in purple. I had to switch it up a little bit. 😉
The best part about getting new shoes is being able to compare them to the old ones and seeing exactly how much hell you put the old ones through.
As you can see, I gave my old pair plenty of hell. 😉
I took my new shoes for a test run on the treadmill this morning and did a set of 8 Fartleks. They were so much softer than my old, worn out pair. I felt as if I was running on two cushiony pillows of love. 🙂 I still have three weeks to break them in for my marathon next month, but I think they’re going to be just fine!
P.S. This is one of those times when I should be preaching ‘Do what I say, Not what I do.’ Running shoes SHOULD be replaced every 350- 500 miles or every 3-4 months. NOT 6 months or however many miles I let slip by. Bad Meghann!
Pumpkin for breakfast anyone?
I have 5 cans of pumpkin staring at me from the pantry every morning. I’m trying to NOT be a hoarder and actually enjoy pumpkin when I feel like it. I have a nasty habit of ‘saving’ things until they expire or the season is over. Bummer.
- 1/2 cup Greenwise Flax Flakes
- 1/2 cup Kashi Go Lean
- 1/2 Frog Hollow Pear
- Plain Yogurt
- Obscene amount of Pumpkin Spice
What it really looks like when I eat it. 😉
Mmmm…. tasty mush. Love it!
In case you missed it…
Last night I submitted a hiring video to wear shirts for a living. Seriously. 😉
Be sure to check it out by clicking here and while you’re at it feel free to share the link and leave a comment about how awesome (or not) I am. At the very least play the video and have good laugh. I tried to include as many embarrassing clips as possible (including doing hula on the Wii in my one piece Christmas pajamas – I am not ashamed! 😉 )
