Pampered Feet

by Meghann on October 27, 2010

You have no idea how much my feet needed to be pampered today.

They were bad. Very bad. Training for back to back marathons will do that to ya. I’ve been meaning to get a pedicure since Chicago and just now found the time to use up the GroupOn I had been hanging onto for this very occasion.

And since my next marathon is still more than a month out I knew I would be ok. πŸ˜‰ My rule is no pedicures the month before a marathon (don’t want to ruin all those lovely protective rough spots), but a month and two weeks before is ok. πŸ˜‰

Pretty feet!

Even better was the Pumpkin Spice Tea Latte I enjoyed from Infusion Tea during the pedicure. πŸ˜‰

The pedicure was my light at the end of a tunnel from a long day of work at my desk. My afternoon Allie Bar was a shiny piece of that light as well.

So was my dinner plans with my beautiful friend Christie (whom I haven’t seen since her wedding in August!).

We met for food at the highly recommended – and very hard to find – Social Chameleon near downtown.

And when I say hard to find, I should say hard to get to as well.

I plugged the address into the google maps navigation application on my phone and managed to drive right passed it the first time. The only reason I knew I drove past it was because when I looked down on my phone I saw a photo of the building I had already seen three building back. (p.s. how cool is the new google maps application that it shows you an image of the address you’re looking for when you’ve ‘reached your destination’).

After two quick u-turns I discovered the building (that resembled a closed shack) didn’t have what looked like access to a parking lot. I questioned an ally next to the building and decided to try and drive my car through.

It worked. I found the parking lot and survived the ally, but I’m not sure I was supposed to squeeze through there. On the way out I found someone’s driveway that I was able to get back to the main road from there.

Needless to say just getting to the restaurant was a challenge, but it was such a cute tiny place with load of character that it was well worth it.

The menu looked amazing as well. There were plenty of meat, vegetarian, and vegan friendly options that all sounded delicious and were decently priced.

However, I ended up ignoring the menu and ordering the Butternut Squash & Cous Cous Flat Bread Special.

It was a tad dry, but nothing a little hot sauce couldn’t fix.

Honestly I was more impressed with Christie’s Pizza she has ordered. I stole a tiny piece and was floored by the addition of the ricotta to the pizza and the fresh plump tomato slices. Next time I would order the pizza, but the special wasn’t bad either. πŸ™‚

Best part? The price! Can’t beat that!

When I got home I had the last third of the Sugah Stix.

Time for bed.

Good Night!!

I have sooo many protective spots/calluses on my feet. I can never decide if I should scrape them off or not. They’re there for a reason, right? (Besides to make me look like I have abused feet).

Love the dark nail polish color!

I have never had a pedicure… in my life. Weird? I guess. I just don’t like the thought of someone touching my feet….

This is my absolute favorite place to go in Orlando. Their stuffed grape leaves are incredible and you cannot beat the atmosphere!

That place sounds interesting! It’s usually the little hole in the walls that have the best food!

Butternut Squash and Couscous sounds really good. What a cute little cafe. I hate when I can’t find a place. It makes me incredibly anxious.

I’ve never had a pedicture before. I’m not very good at having people touch my feet because I’m so ticklish though, so that might not be a good idea.

That restaurant is so cute with the alley and the cute fence!

I need a pedicure so badly!!! But I’m forcing myself to wait until after my half marathon!

I don’t know how you were able to make the Sugah Stix last that long… you have WILLPOWER! If it were me, it would have been gone day one! πŸ™‚

I actually hate pedicures. I had one once. I didn’t find it very relaxing. I was uncomfortable and on the edge of my seat the whole time. AND the girl broke my toenail off.
I’ve never had another one since.

Never realized runners had so many problems with their feet until I started my blog, guess we all sort of take them for granted.

Do you ever feel weird taking pictures with other people in it? (Such as your first pic). Do you explain to the person why you’re taking the pic?
