Hi, My Name is Meghann

by Meghann on October 4, 2010

Now that was an odd day.

First of all, THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for the countless number of comments, e-mails, tweets, Facebook messages, etc. The support I have received in the last 24 hours has been overwelming. I was brought to tears several times today and touched by all the lovely, personal responses.

Again.. Thank You, Thank You, Thank You.

Basically the majority of my day was spent reading comment after comment and rebuttal after rebuttal. I now have a countless amount of topics I would love to start blogging discussions about, but for now my brain has turned to mush. It’s fried – I have nothing left!

So instead of starting those discussions tonight, I am just going to keep doing what I’m doing. Like, training for my MARATHON or eating delicious, healthy food. πŸ™‚

It’s hard to believe I’m in my final week of marathon training. The time has flown by and I’m both excited and nervous for the week ahead.

Running will be light this week. There are 3 days of running on my training plan and then it’s the big day on Sunday. Eekk!!! Can’t wait!

Kelly and I are planning a meet up on Saturday before the race. If you are running the Chicago Marathon and want to meet up for Ice Cream or Fro Yo Saturday afternoon please send me an e-mail at πŸ™‚

This morning was a quick 4 miler. Thanks to the Marie Claire article I had energy to burn and surprisingly held 8:30 min/miles with ease for those 4 miles. It’s amazing how mental distractions make us run faster without even trying. πŸ˜‰

After the run I dug into a big bowl of cereal for breakfast.

  • 1/2 cup Greenwise Flakes
  • 1/2 cup Kix
  • 1/3 cup Attune Apple Cinnamon Munch Granola
  • Plain yogurt
  • Almond Butter
  • Peach

In case you were wondering I licked my bowl clean and had small handfuls of cereal as I filled my bowl. I always have small handfuls. It taste better out of the box then out of the bowl anyways. πŸ˜‰

The morning got away from me. Between catching up on e-mails from the weekend, to explaining the article situation to countless co-workers, I didn’t believe it when my clock told me it was time to head home for lunch.

I made a vegetable/ hummus sandwich with hummus, blue cheese, tomato, kale, carrot, and mushrooms on whole wheat bread.

And an apple with almond butter.

Yes, it was *gasp* a meal of vegetables. But you see that bread? That’s ‘real bread’ and you see that almond butter? it’s ‘real almond butter.’ Just sayin. πŸ˜‰

Yoga was a much needed de-stresser this evening. I haven’t been in a week and needed an outlet to decompress and just let it all go. I left feeling light and mellow – yoga, I love you. πŸ™‚

Before yoga I had some mixed nuts to snack on.

After yoga a salad with toast

My sister had mentioned Massaged Kale this past weekend and it has been on my mind ever since. Massaged kale is where you massage kale with olive oil and vinegar then you let it marinade for a few hour in the fridge. I had massaged the kale at lunch time and topped it with some nuts, tomato, mushrooms, raisins, and two hard boiled eggs after my class. It’s delicious. πŸ™‚

Some toast on the side for carbs.

Dessert (YES, I eat dessert EVERY night πŸ˜‰ )

Alright, I’m out.

If you’re new to the blogWelcome! Take a look around and check out some of my favorite posts, or race recaps, or travels and then let me know what you think of the place. πŸ˜‰

Back to regular posting tomorrow.

Good Night!

Thank YOU for sharing your life with us. I can’t believe I haven’t found you before! I’ve clearly been missing out.

Careful, all that talk about real food is going to lead to the destruction of fake plasti-foods and then ConAgra will be all over you πŸ˜‰

8 Evan Thomas October 4, 2010 at 10:14 pm

THIS is why I love your blog: Because you’re a real person, who eats real food, and runs really well. I can’t WAIT for you to rock Chicago!

9 Tina October 4, 2010 at 10:15 pm

I love that you mention how you eat things that aren’t necessarily pictured on the blog every single day. As another blogger, I knew as much was likely and it just goes to show that the author didn’t have the full picture. You rock! And you will rock that marathon on Sunday too. πŸ˜‰

Btw, I love your blog and we (your readers/follows/supporters, etc.) couldn’t care less what some ignorant journalist wants to say about you and our awesome blog community. You know we’ve got your back πŸ˜‰

Meghann you are my favorite blogger and a constant inspiration. You always say how proud you are of people when they run or make healthy choices. It took me a long time to accept the fact that I don’t think I’ll ever be able to maintain a sub-9 min mile and honestly, reading your blog has made me realize that’s ok, EVEN THOUGH you are faster than I am. Take that Marie Claire πŸ™‚

Keep blogging girl, we love you <3

A lot has already been said today… I look forward to reading your blog everyday. I relate to you and your “story” in so many ways and always reading about your training is the reason why I started really running.

I always wanted someone to run with or thought I needed someone to train with in order to run a race but after reading about your runs and races, one day I just walked out the door and RAN! Simple as that. Blog world has given me the confidence to do things that I never thought would be possible. For this I think you and all the bloggers out there.

Keep being you. We are still here.

oh I am SO sorry this all happened. we all know the truth, but to feel like you must defend your eating and talk about how normal and healthy you do eat… I’m sorry you have to do that. I’m sure I would too.

I sent a letter to the editor. it was a crazy biased editorial based on an agenda. an agenda from a person who is a triathlete and in recovery from an ED. shame on them for publishing.

Hey Meghann
I’ve been reading your blog for a while now (serial lurker!) but thought it might be time to say hi – given the events of the day!
I love your positive attitude and your love of life that is evident through your posts. I’m not a runner but hope to be one day, thinking of starting C25k in a couple of weeks – although I’m dealing with a broken toe so am very slow moving these days!
You rock, keep it up πŸ™‚

Congrats on your dignified response to what was a very iresponsibly written article. Taking quotes out of context and insinuating that the article would be a positive one was just bad work practice. At least if she had been honest about the general theme of her article, you could have had a chance to reach out and react to her claims and statements.
Anyway, as I said to Caitlin, this person does not deserve any of your negative energy – so keep your chin up.
And as for your marathon this weekend – enjoy!!!!! I have mine in 3 weeks (I had a freak attack last night as I thought it was in 2 and nearly fainted) and I am excited and slightly scared!
My favourite encouraging sign – Run Like You Stole Something!
