My Ode to the AllieBar

by Meghann on August 18, 2010

Hello AllieBar,

I think I love you. ๐Ÿ™‚

I know your recipe is top secret, but it doesn’t stop me from dissecting your make up with every delicious sweet bite. ๐Ÿ˜‰

I now believe the secret to your wonderful sweetness is that all your nuts and oatmeal bits have been coated in brown sugar and lightly baked before being made into bar form. Allie, am I close? ๐Ÿ˜‰

Some granola bars are tought and hurt my jaw as I chew, but not you AllieBar. You crumble and practically melt in my mouth. I would like to have more and more of you. Le sigh, if only Allie would give up the recipe! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Love Forever & Always,

The AllieBar was the perfect pre-hot yoga snack. It was light and sweet, but still filling enough to power me through an 80 minute sweat sesh.

And sweat i did. As the summer temps continue to rise all around us in central Florida, so does the temperature in the tiny, hot room. It had to reach over 100 degrees in there this evening. Yikes!

I’ve pretty much given up eating real food after yogurt. I mush prefer a big smoothie in a bowl instead.

Isn’t tonight’s bowl pretty? I think the addition of the kale may have had something to do with it. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  • Ice
  • Plain Yogurt
  • Almond Milk
  • Frozen Pineapple
  • Frozen Mango
  • Flax Seed
  • PB2
  • Kale

  • Granola
  • Naturally Nutter Honey Cinnamon Peanut Butter

I’m not sure I want to ever eat a real meal again.

I pulled a frozen Chai Tea Scone out of the freezer for dessert.

Mmmm….. ๐Ÿ™‚

Has anyone seen this book?

How to Date a Triathlete: Learning to Live with and Love an Endurance Athlete.

I’m thinking about purchasing a copy for Derek.

Of course, he probably has it down to a science now! ๐Ÿ™‚

Send good vibes Maddie’s way – she has her annual shots in the morning! Oh boy.

Good Night!

Judging by the reactions, crack has to be an ingredient in those bars. Could they really be that good?!

The first person that popped into my mind seeing that book is Healthy Ashley.

6 Matt August 18, 2010 at 9:53 pm

It’s cool. I had a smoothie in a bowl for dinner, too. They’re just soooo dang good! Berries + banana + almond milk + granola/honey topping = awesomeness.

22 Mel August 19, 2010 at 8:37 am

Hey! You did cardio, strength, and 80 mins of yoga today? thats a ton of exercise. Do you ever feel like you are over doing it? Not to sound mean at all b/c I think you are great, but I feel like you work out more than anyone I know to stay in shape.

23 DiningAndDishing August 19, 2010 at 10:15 am

Yes, I would love to hear the Allie Bar recipe! I eat a Cliff Bar most every day but I do sometimes worry that they’re too processed and that I should make my own out of more natural ingredients. Maybe enough pressure will convince her :).

I can understand why she wouldn’t want to share the recipe if she intends to maybe sell them one day. They look good.

25 Amanda (Two Boos Who Eat) August 19, 2010 at 11:36 am

I want to try an alliebar. They look sooo good!

I’ll definitely send my love over to Maddie!

26 Halley @ Blunder Construction August 19, 2010 at 11:53 am

1. People are SERIOUS about these AllieBars! How many did you get in your swag bag?!!

2. I feel the same way about oatmeal as you do about your yogurt meals. If left to my own disgression, I would eat oatmeal 5 times a day and be PERFECTLY HAPPY. My boyfriend, on the other hand, would not be.

27 Nicci August 19, 2010 at 1:50 pm

Super cute book. love it. lol

28 Pearl Lee August 19, 2010 at 8:49 pm
