A Sweet Surprise

by Meghann on July 2, 2010

I had a special surprise delivered to my desk this morning!

Edible Arrangements?!?! Eeekkkk!!! Iโ€™ve always wanted something from Edible Arrangements, but Iโ€™ve never had the pleasure until now. It was a very sweet and unexpected Friday surprise. ๐Ÿ™‚

The occasion? How about the โ€˜Just becauseโ€™ occasion. ๐Ÿ˜‰ Which is honestly the best occasion for chocolate dipped treats if you ask me. ๐Ÿ™‚

Derek knew the last couple of weeks have been very stressful for me โ€“ and if he didnโ€™t know before, Iโ€™m sure the breakdown I had in Houston where I called him in tears could have been a big indicator โ€“ so he decided to do something sweet for me to make up for it. He is my rock and always knows what will make me feel better.

I mean, why send flowers when you can send dark chocolate dipped strawberries?!?! My baby knows me well!

The arrangement of chocolate dipped strawberries wasnโ€™t the only surpriseโ€ฆ

Even though Iโ€™ve seen every Glee episode at least two or three times thanks to my handy dandy DVR, I still can not wait to sit down with the DVDs and watch each episode again and again anytime and anywhere! So excited!!

This delivery totally brightened up my morning!

What made my morning even better was being able to dine with my Prince Charming in person at lunch today.

He picked me up from the office and whisked me away to my favorite neat by restaurant -  Infusion Tea.

I had been craving PIZZA and know the goat cheese pizza would hit the spot.

It did. ๐Ÿ™‚ I had three slices of the simple, yet sophisticated pizza which just had goat cheese, onions, and some dressed greens on top. It reminded me of something I would have created on my own at home. ๐Ÿ™‚

I also split a cup of Gazpacho with Derek.

Derek was actually curious why nothing on the menu contained meat. After I informed him it was a vegetarian restaurant he then got worried the meal wouldnโ€™t be enough to keep him full. I told him to order what he wanted and if he was still hungry there were plenty of snacks at my apartment he could have.

He ended up ordering  the Portobello Panini โ€“ which I had a bite of and was fabulous โ€“ and you know what? He left full and satisfied.

I think the slice of pizza he had from me and the other half of the gazpacho did the trick too. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Guess what we had for dessert?

I had 3 and WOW!

Iโ€™m telling you โ€“ you can not go wrong with strawberries and chocolate ever!  ๐Ÿ™‚

Iโ€™m leaving work shortly and weโ€™re heading to my parentsโ€™ house for the night. I canโ€™t wait to see my Maddie! Iโ€™ve missed my little booger butt!

And LOL At Booger Butt hehee

14 newleafeats July 2, 2010 at 2:05 pm

Ooooh yum! I’ve always wanted one of those!

I rarely tell the husband that our meal is “vegetarian,” and frankly, he doesn’t usually notice when it is. If I point it out, his scrunches his nose and gives me a look of disapproval. Hah!

15 Anna July 2, 2010 at 2:11 pm

I adore Edible Arrangements. A friend sent me a bouquet after making a mess while he stayed with us. It was awesome. I’ve sent them to others a few times and they’ve always enjoyed them. Best of all is you get a nice large mug to use at the end of it ๐Ÿ™‚

16 Kelly July 2, 2010 at 2:23 pm

I’d like to thank Derek for making my sister very happy! Not just today but for the entire time you guys have been dating.

Derek is such a sweetie – those strawberries look so delicious and how lovely of him to thing of you when you’re stressed! You’re a lucky girl!!

26 Meghan July 2, 2010 at 4:13 pm

Lucky girl! For the strawberries, of course, and for Glee. ๐Ÿ˜‰ Love that show!

27 Rosey Rebecca July 2, 2010 at 4:23 pm

Derek is so sweet! I love chocolate covered strawberries. Dark chocolate covered strawberries are ten times better!

It’s so funny that he thought he wouldn’t stay full after eating at a vegetarian restaurant. I am actually writing a column for my paper about vegetarian friendly restaurants in the area. Veggies keep you full just as much as meat does. My little cousins were visiting a couple weeks ago and they were asking how I survive being a vegetarian. They thought I starved myself and just ate lettuce.

28 Lizz @ leading the good life July 2, 2010 at 5:03 pm

Surprises like that are the best! What a thoughtful guy! Major brownie points, Derek…or are they chocolate-covered strawberry points??

29 Olivia @ Blissful Runner July 2, 2010 at 5:22 pm

LOVE your arrangement! He’s so sweet! I actually took my husband (ok, dragged, kicking and screaming) to a vegetarian restaurant this past weekened. After seeing the tofurkey and Not Dogs on the menu he sigh and huffed, “Fine, whatever, I’ll have a house salad.” It took time to convince him that not every meal contained fake meat and there were plenty of options that would be on any other restaurants menu. He finally found a pasta dish he wanted to try and loved it! I’m sure we’ll be back. Boys are so funny…

30 Katherine: What About Summer? July 2, 2010 at 5:27 pm

where did you get Derek and where can I get one!? how did you two meet?

31 Laura @ Backstage Pass to Health & Happiness July 2, 2010 at 5:47 pm

What a thoughtful, sweet man. Perhaps Derek can write a guest post with some tips on how to treat a lady for all of our boyfriends / hubbies to read.

32 Erin July 2, 2010 at 5:52 pm

What a sweet thing for him to do! That’s so great that he knows you so well AND remembered that this is something you’ve been wanting.

Derek’s comment about the no-meat thing reminds me so much of my husband. “No meat???? How will I stay full without PROTEIN?” He just can’t seem to grasp that there is more to protein than animals.

33 Jocelyn July 2, 2010 at 6:01 pm

What a great guy! I gave my hubby an Edibble Arrangement for his birthday, because he’s a doof and didn’t book it off from work. He would have rather had cake but he enjoyed the fuit non the less ๐Ÿ™‚ So much better than flowers in my opinion.

49 Run Sarah July 3, 2010 at 1:28 am

50 dianacheung July 3, 2010 at 8:05 am

derek, I know you read this…so…GREAT JOB. when my bf sent me an edible arrangement bouquet I knew he was a keeper!! Isn’t their fruit the biggest and freshest EVER?? AHHH! Now I want some.

51 Marissa July 3, 2010 at 10:28 am

Edible Arrangements are the best! My favorite are the big just fruit baskets. No chocolate or frills, just a whole bunch of melon and berries skewered to look like flowers! Love it. I hope I get one on my birthday!

52 Anne @ the doctor takes a wife July 4, 2010 at 9:25 pm

What a doll ๐Ÿ™‚ Aren’t unexpected “just because” surprises the best??
