And so another adventure begins

by Meghann on June 26, 2010

Amen. 🙂

Two Flights. 6 hours of traveling. And so many thousand miles of traveling – I am happy to say I finally made it safe and sound in Colorado Springs. Boy, does it feel so good to relax. 🙂

You would think after all the traveling I do I would be used to the long flights and hauling luggage around, but I’m not. I’m really starting to hate it actually. There was a moment during my lay over in Houston this evening where I broke down and called Derek in tears over the stress of my past week and what I know I have ahead of me. He was amazing as usual and just let me vent. And that’s why I love him. 🙂

I did discover something good today. If you travel with cupcakes no one judges you for having three or four carry ons. 😉 I was carrying on the four cupcakes I had picked up last night for the girls, plus my roller, camera bag, and extra large Vera Bradley Bag. They just pushed me through with a smile and joked about taking the cupcakes from me. I need bring cupcakes with me more often. 🙂

We landed in Houston early and I had enough time to grab some sushi before my next flight.

The sushi was actually pretty tasty for airport sushi. I grabbed it from The Real Food Company in the C terminal if you are ever in the Houston airport and looking for good sushi.

Once I walked in the door and saw these gorgeous faces I knew all the troubles of getting here was worth it.

The last time I saw my cousin’s daughters – Hannah and Kylie – was in April of 2008. They’ve grown so much in two years – I could hardly recognize them!

I was actually greeted with a round of ‘Meghann’s Here! Meghann’s Here!’ never have I felt more welcomed.

Kylie even offered to bring my bags downstairs.

Love these girls! My cousin has three of them, I wonder if she would notice if one goes missing. I think I can get one to fit in my carry-on. I’ll bring cupcakes. No one would notice. 😉

I was a little hungry by the time I arrived and chomped on an apple from my carry on.

I was also intrigued by these Chips Ahoy cookies with Reeses.

Honestly, I’m not a Chips Aho fan to begin with and the addition of the reeses didn’t win me over like I thought they would. I was hoping to actually taste the reeses, but no luck.

A beer was offered and consumed. 🙂

I’m being cut off from all forms of technology tomorrow.

We’re packing up and heading to the mountains to camp for the evening. I’m not sure what I’m going to do without my e-mail or blogs to read. Eeekkk! Maybe I need to be cut off?

I’ll be back Sunday afternoon with a full recap – try not to miss me too much!

Until then here’s a little sneak peak to where we’re heading. We did a similar trip back in 2007 when my family came up for my Aunt’s 50th birthday party. I can’t believe this was three years ago now! Boy how time flies!
