Healthy Living Summit Giveaway

by Meghann on May 25, 2010

Good Morning!

I had a dream last night that I was at the Healthy Living Summit having a blast, but something was missing. Hmmm… When I woke up it finally came to me – I was suppose to do a giveaway yesterday for a FREE ticket to the sold out event! Opps! Totally slipped my mind! Don’t worry the prize is still up for grabs – check out the details below! 😉

Besides having crazy Healthy Living Summit dreams, I slept like a rock. I was out by 10:30 and didn’t budge until my alarm went off at 5:30 this morning. Pure sleeping bliss. 🙂

I conquered 5 miles on my run this morning before sitting down to an amazing breakfast I had conquered up in my head during that run.

Check this out – Eggs in a Pita Basket with Strawberry Jam!

I simply cut out the center of a pita, placed it in a hot pan, and added a slightly scrambled whole egg. I gave it a couple of minutes and then flipped.

The sweet and savory combination was perfect. The pita gave the eggs in a basket concept and extra chewiness and if I had closed my eyes I could have swore I was eating a pancake.

Cool and crisp apple slices were added on the side.

Get Your Ticket!

Missed your chance at scoring a ticket to this summer’s hottest event?!?!

No, I’m not talking about the National Glee Tour (though if you have a spare ticket I’ll be happy to take it off your hands 😉 ), I’m talking about the Second Annual Healthy Living Summit!!

This year’s event will be held in Chicago from August 13-15 and I have to say I am super excited! Kath, Tina, Caitlin, Heather, and I have been working hard with Arnold/Oroweat, Stonyfield, Quaker, Frito Lay, and Open Sky to make this year’s agenda better than ever. If you ask me, the fact that the 200 tickets that went up for sale last Wednesday sold out in a matter of hours just goes to show we are on the right track. 🙂

Well, just in case you weren’t one of those lucky 200 ticket purchasers, I just so happen to happen to have an extra ticket in my possession that I am looking to give to one lucky reader.

Here are the rules:

  • To enter simply leave a comment on this post letting me know what you favorite thing do do, see, or eat in Chicago is.
  • You have until tomorrow morning when I will randomly pick a winner for my breakfast post.
  • The free ticket does not include transportation or hotel costs, which must be paid by the winner.  Please only enter the contest if you plan to attend the event if you win!

Good Luck!!

5 Christina May 25, 2010 at 8:47 am

My favorite thing to do is bike the waterfront trails because you’re on the water (my favorite place) and you have an amazing view of the city. After that I would eat at Des Colores because it is the best Mexican food I’ve ever eaten, ever ever!

6 Rachel May 25, 2010 at 8:47 am

12 Amy May 25, 2010 at 8:58 am

My favorite thing to do in Chicago is eat at Wishbone or Rose Angelis. Can’t beat the Southern comfort food of Wishbone or the Italian deliciousness of Rose Angelis!

13 Megan May 25, 2010 at 8:56 am

Sorry I needed to plug… I go to school in Chicago so its soooo hard to name my favorite thing to do. Running up and down lake shore drive gets me everytime. When I train for half marathons and heck even when I run them… since they’ve all been in Chicago, looking at that Chicago skyline is just heaven. Its like being in a postcard….

Plus you can’t hate the night life!

14 Gabriela @ Une Vie Saine May 25, 2010 at 8:58 am

My favorite thing to see in Chicago WOULD BE all the other bloggers, but I’d also love to try some real deep dish pizza!!

15 Lauren May 25, 2010 at 8:58 am

Shopping on Michigan Ave. Not that I can AFFORD anything there, but it’s fun to browse the windows 🙂

16 Erin @ Cooking and the City May 25, 2010 at 8:59 am

I’ve never been to Chicago! But I’m sure I would enjoy the variety of restaurants and the shopping, and of course the HLS!!

18 Jessica @Healthy Obsessions May 25, 2010 at 9:01 am

My favorite thing to do in Chicago is playing in the water park/monument on Michigan Ave. There are these two tall blocks that display faces on them. the ground has about an inch of water to play on and then every 15 or 20 minutes a big spout of water opens up and sprays everyone near the blocks. It’s a fun time in the summer when you are young or young at heart!

19 eatavegan May 25, 2010 at 9:02 am

My favorite thing to do in Chicago is go on the tours with the Architecture Foundation. You get to walk all over the city, and you learn a ton about all the beautiful buildings. 🙂

22 Jean May 25, 2010 at 9:11 am

I’ve only been to Chicago once, and that was back in High School. I remember eating a deep dish pizza that was so good I still compare all other deep dish pizza’s to it! 🙂

23 Jessica May 25, 2010 at 9:11 am

27 Lauren May 25, 2010 at 9:21 am

In terms of food? Well, that would obviously be deep-dish pizza! Extra veggies, please! 🙂

28 Sarah (from See Sarah Eat) May 25, 2010 at 9:25 am

35 Ashley Perez May 25, 2010 at 9:59 am

I have only been to Chicago once…and I was stuck in the airport. I did however treat myself to a deep dish pizza and a bubble bath in the free hotel room. I really want to see more of Chicago and would love to meet the the “people” behind the blogs I read on a daily basis.

36 Robyn May 25, 2010 at 10:02 am

37 Laura May 25, 2010 at 10:05 am

I am DYING to go to the HLS…partly because I’ve never been to Chicago! If I get to go, I will def eat a TON of pizza and check out a baseball game (ideally at Wrigley!).

38 Nadine May 25, 2010 at 10:11 am

Gosh I have ALOT of favorite things in Chicago. I know that favorite thing to eat of course is no question- is the famous Chicago hotdogs! My favorite thing(s) to do there, since I can’t pick one is… visit all my family that lives out there, visit the field museum, the cool chicago bean in downtown, and my last and most favorite thing to do is go to a Chicago Cubs game in Wrigleyville!!

I hope I win- it would be so much fun to visit Chicago again!

39 Hillary May 25, 2010 at 10:12 am

As a native Chicago girl – my favorite thing to do/ see is a long run on the lake front path on a Saturday morning. The path is filled with tons of runners and the sun on the lake is quite a sight.

As for eating, the obvious first choice is our deep dish pizza but choice for me is a Chicago style hotdog!!! OH YUM!

40 Becca H May 25, 2010 at 10:12 am

Chicago is one of the cities I have never been able to visit. I would love to see the Cubs play.

41 Nidia May 25, 2010 at 10:12 am

42 Bianca May 25, 2010 at 10:26 am

I have never been to chicago, but it only took a month of working at Pizzeria Uno to make me fear their pizza. There is over a thousand calories in a small pie, eeks!

43 Mara @ What's For Dinner? May 25, 2010 at 10:26 am

well, since i live here… ha! My favorite thing to do lately is visit Fox & Obel (a gourmet food market) and Green City Market (an outdoor farmer’s market on wednesdays and saturdays)

i love going to see my FRIENDS! 90% of my friends from college live in the windy city, and i also love the bean (i wrote a paper on it in school, oh, arti history major).

45 Emily May 25, 2010 at 10:30 am

My favorite thing to do in Chicago is visit the museums and eat Thai food or Indian food!

What kind of strawberry jam is that? It looks amazing.

46 Kate May 25, 2010 at 10:33 am

I live in Chicago and was so bummed I wasn’t around to get a ticket last Wednesday! By the time I got home it was already sold out.

My favorite Chicago food – hands down deep dish pizza. I LOVE cheese so it’s my favorite – Bacino’s is #1!

47 Cristal May 25, 2010 at 10:33 am

Hey there! I have never been to Chicago, but would love to go someday. I think this would be the perfect opportunity to discover this great city!

48 Samantha Angela @ Bikini Birthday May 25, 2010 at 10:35 am

My sister lives in Chicago, so she’s my favourite person to see 🙂

49 Vanessa May 25, 2010 at 10:35 am

54 midgetkeeper May 25, 2010 at 10:39 am

I’ve never been to Chicago but I’ve been dying to go.

My Husband raves about it, and I would love to try some deep dish pizza, the Navy Pier, and of course a Cubs game.

55 Carolyn @ May 25, 2010 at 10:41 am

I SO wish I could go this year, but I’m going to Vegas the weekend before, taking a day off in September to do the Ragnar Relay in SC and then taking a week off in October to go out west to my husband’s reunion.

56 Jenn (Jenn's Menu and Lifestyle Blog) May 25, 2010 at 10:42 am

I’ve never been to Chicago!

That egg pita look delish. I love sweet + savory combos.

57 Amy May 25, 2010 at 10:44 am

I’d find out what my favorite thing to do is if I win a ticket to the Healthy Living Summit!!

58 mary ann May 25, 2010 at 10:45 am

like so many others, i’ve never been to Chicago other than a layover in O’Hare (definitely have slept over in that d*$# airport too gah!) But when/if I go, I not only need to get some authentic deep dish (like every other commenter), I hear they take a lot of pride in all things “swine.” A really good “dawg” is what Im looking for, accompanied by some of what Im told are the best mutha-you-know-what-in-cheese-fries. Amen. Now I want some cheese fries, dang this giveaway!!

59 christinaorso1 May 25, 2010 at 10:45 am

i’ve never been to chicago but i’d definitely want to go to the summit!

60 tiff May 25, 2010 at 10:46 am

Since eating Deep Dish pizza is a given, I love love love taking weird and funny pictures in front of the bean!

61 Kate N. May 25, 2010 at 10:50 am

Deep Dish Pizza!! Not healthy at all, but I want to try an authentic one!

62 kayla May 25, 2010 at 10:50 am

I’ve only been to Chicago a few times but I enjoyed shopping and the pizza! 🙂

63 Andy May 25, 2010 at 10:51 am

I love going up in the John Hancock building for a tasty lunch that is reasonably priced. I am also a huge fan of Old Town. There are so many little shops and restaurants with such history and personality to them. Chicago is one of my favorite cities to visit. I always try to eat and see new things every time I visit the Windy City.

64 Erin May 25, 2010 at 10:51 am

I actually work right in downtown Chicago (a 2 minute walk from “The Bean”) and my favorite thing to do is squeeze in a lunch time run along the lakefront path.

65 Amanda May 25, 2010 at 10:51 am

Never been…but I’m sure I’d just want to walk around and eat everything 🙂

66 Joey May 25, 2010 at 10:54 am

Pick me pick me!!! Navy Pier is fun 🙂 Just walking around the city is fun if the weather is nice… I want to hit up the aquarium sometime soon, too. I emailed yesterday to ask, but is there any way to get on a waiting list in case some tickets become available?

67 Rachel May 25, 2010 at 10:54 am

There are so many great things to do in Chicago… the best is walking/running along the water and walking through/exploring the different neighborhoods.

68 Julia May 25, 2010 at 10:55 am

OMG, I want to go SOOOOO bad and I missed out on my spot to the HLS because of a computer malfunction! 🙁

As an art student, my favorite place to visit in Chicago is the Art Institute (but secretly I love shopping down Michigan Ave too!)

Ya, for only living an hour away!

69 Emily May 25, 2010 at 10:58 am

Chicago rules! I live here and my favorite things include the lakeshore path, Hot Doug’s (encased meat heaven, if that’s your thing), and farmer’s market season!

70 Michelle May 25, 2010 at 11:02 am

My fingers are SOOO crossed for this!!! Chicago is my American home town (the real one is in Hong Kong) and i’d love to be able to show my favorite bloggers the in’s and out’s of the city! 🙂

My favorite thing to do in Chicago is to Take the water taxi down to Chinatown (only $4 bucks and yet so romantic and fun!), grab dim sum there and hit up my favorite bakery for some sponge cakes, buns, and taro bubble tea, then water taxi it up back to Navy Pier and stroll around there, ride the giant ferris wheel, eat a bun or two, sunbathe, and perhaps eventually buy some Garrett’s popcorn (the Chicago mix!)!

71 Jen May 25, 2010 at 11:03 am

I would absolutely LOVE to go!!!! I would sight see and eat lots of good food! I don’t know what I would EXACTLY do bc I’ve never been there that I would remember (I went when I was 4 once).

72 Jennifer May 25, 2010 at 11:03 am

I love going to the street festivals and being able to try a bunch of different types of food and drinks – SO. GOOD.

73 ellaroo88 May 25, 2010 at 11:06 am

I’m from central Illinois so I get to Chicago a lot! I love the museums! The Art Museum is amazing and the my family LOVES the Field Museum. I personally love them all

74 plusrunner May 25, 2010 at 11:07 am

My favorite thing? To head over to Northerly Island at dusk, packing my running shoes and just a little bit of tension from the day. As I wander around the gorgeous, 3 mile-ish trek, I get the sense that I’m totally alone in our amazing city – and yet, I get to watch it light up for the night. As I burn off the stress of the day, I get to watch our gorgeous city come to life, like a pretty lady getting ready for a big night out. Soldier Field, the Field Museum, the Stone Container Buildling, and Navy Pier all line up to tell me to keep trucking, and remember that there’s nature AND city living to be had – we only have to find it!

75 Kim May 25, 2010 at 11:07 am

My now-husband, then-boyfriend used to live in Chicago, so it is tough to pick a favorite, but I think the one thing I ALWAYS wanted to do when I was visiting my guy in Chicago was walk down Michigan Avenue window shopping! It would be awesome to have an excuse to go back…we haven’t been to Chi-town since Matt moved away 4 years ago!

76 Theresa May 25, 2010 at 11:08 am

I love the Field Musuem in Chicago!

77 katie anne May 25, 2010 at 11:09 am

wrigley field

81 Tiffanie May 25, 2010 at 11:14 am

I live in Chicago and love going out to explore the city like a tourist. The summers here are great, and it’s hard to pick my one favorite thing to do. I guess I’d have to say that spending time outdoors in the warm weather, either in the heart of the city (e.g., shopping on Michigan Ave) or on the lakefront, has to be the best Chicago experience.

Of course, it helps if you stop along the way to have some deep-dish pizza! 🙂

82 Madison May 25, 2010 at 11:19 am

I’ve actually never been to Chicago! BUT one thing that I would not want to miss: REAL Chicago deep dish pizza. looooove me some pizza!!!

83 catiechurch May 25, 2010 at 11:20 am

The perfect chicago style hot dog!

84 Emily May 25, 2010 at 11:20 am

87 Sara May 25, 2010 at 11:24 am

Water Tower Place

88 Heather ODonnell May 25, 2010 at 11:25 am

Chicago is the best place to people watch. You have Navy Pier, Wrigley Field, all sorts of museums, Michigan Avenue (shopping!!), Shedd Aquarium, and so much more.

89 Jenna (Hello, I Love You) May 25, 2010 at 11:26 am

My best friend lives in Chicago so she is def my fave thing to see there!

91 Brooke May 25, 2010 at 11:31 am

92 biz319 May 25, 2010 at 11:38 am

When I logged on at 8:05 p.m. that night, I already got a wait list reply – hum?

Pick me – I live in Chicago!

93 Kelly May 25, 2010 at 11:39 am

The top of the John Hancock building is a great place to go and have a cocktail and watch the sun set over the whole city! Beautiful! Instead of going to the observation deck (which costs like $25) you go to the lounge and order or don’t order and enjoy the views for free! Of course Michigan Ave is a great shopping experience too!

94 Alexandra Chappell May 25, 2010 at 11:41 am

Chicago is one of my absolute favorite cities! I would LOVE to visit the Green City Market!

95 Clare May 25, 2010 at 11:42 am

Sweet Potato Fries at American Dog in Lincoln Park after a night out…mmm:)

96 Kristina May 25, 2010 at 11:42 am

I’ve never been to Chicago, so I think I’d just like meeting all of the bloggers. Eating some great food also works. 🙂

97 Shannon May 25, 2010 at 11:42 am

fav thing to see? the lake 🙂

98 Jessica Leichsenring May 25, 2010 at 11:53 am

I was wondering about the giveaway yesterday. 🙂

I’m originally from the Chicago area, and my favorite thing to do and see downtown is go to what was Marshall Field’s flagship store on State St. I have many great memories going here as a kid with my dad – a salesman. Same with Watertower Place…great shopping and great memories.

As for what I like to eat downtown, I’d probably have to go check out the restaurant my little brother works at…some cheese restaurant on Michigan Ave. But yes, deep dish pizza, hotdogs, a beer at Wrigley…all great Chicago things I have enjoyed! 🙂

99 Aimee May 25, 2010 at 11:54 am

I have never been to Chicago, but this would be a great reason to make the trip. I hear the shopping is great!

100 Heather May 25, 2010 at 11:56 am

My sister lives in Chicago!! We always shop til we drop! And it wouldn’t be a trip without eating at Chicago Pizza and Oven Grinder – amazing pizza pot pies…….mmmmmmmmm…….

101 Kendra! May 25, 2010 at 12:00 pm

oh! I’ve never ever been to Chicago and want to go soooo badly!
They’re famous for their deep dish pizzas, no? I want a whole one all to myself!

And I’d looove to stop by arguably the BEST art school in the country: School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Some of the best up-and-coming artists have come out of that school and I just want to walk the halls!

*fingers crossed* *thinking positive!*

102 Cristin May 25, 2010 at 12:01 pm

I love running on the lakefront. The city comes alive in the summer and it is amazing!

103 Kati May 25, 2010 at 12:01 pm

I’ve never been to Chicago but having the chance to go there for the Healthy Living Summit would be a great excuse 🙂 I have heard rave reviews about their pizza & would definitely want to check out a Cubs game!

104 Cynthia May 25, 2010 at 12:01 pm

Navy Pier is lots of fun, so is the field museum and just walking around downtown!

105 Rachel May 25, 2010 at 12:01 pm

I desperately want to go to HLS! I couldn’t buy a ticket when they went on sale, so hopefully I can win one!

I haven’t been to Chicago since I was a kid. I vaguely remember loving Navy Pier… and, of course, deep dish pizza!

106 Tessa May 25, 2010 at 12:05 pm

Wahooo!! There are so many fun things to do in Chicago!! I’m from Chicago but I live in Nashville now. It would be a blast to visit old friends and meet new ones on this trip! You gotta go to the Shed Aquarium – good stuff!

107 Heather May 25, 2010 at 12:06 pm

I’m originally from Chicago (live in the Southwest now), but there are so many awesome things to do there, especially in the summer. Hitting up one of the many street festivals is so much fun when the weather is warm, or going to a Sox game (boo Cubs!), taking a walk (or run) along Lake Michigan. As for food, I do miss my Italian Beef sandwiches! They just don’t make them that good anywhere else!

108 Elizabeth May 25, 2010 at 12:09 pm

I’ve only flown through Chicago (many, many hours spent at O’Hare), and haven’t yet had the chance to explore. The last time I was there, though, I had lost my iPod charger, it was 4 am and I randomly found a store in the terminal that was a. open and b. sold chargers. Jackpot! I’d love to win the HLS ticket and spend the weekend with you lovely ladies! 🙂

109 jessica May 25, 2010 at 12:11 pm

I’ve never even been to Chicago. I love pizza and I know Chicago has a monopoly on deep dish pizza. I also have my BA in history and I am a nerd, so I’d like to do a historical tour of the city!

110 Stephanie May 25, 2010 at 12:11 pm

I have never been to Chicago, but I know it must be filled with lots of delicious food! I would obviously have to try their famed pizza, but just like anywhere else I would have to eat my way through the city to figure out what my favorite thing was!

111 Amanda May 25, 2010 at 12:14 pm

ahhh so many things I love about Chicago! I only live 2.5 hours away so I visit a couple of times a year! I think my favorites are: shopping on Michigan Avenue, the pool at Intercontinental Hotel (if you haven’t reserved your hotel for the marathon PLEASE check it out that pool is AMAZING!), Wrigley Field & Wrigleyville, Giordano’s Pizza and Portillo’s Italian Beef! mmmmmm!!!!!! oh I hope I win 🙂 I’d love to meet you all!!!

112 Caroline May 25, 2010 at 12:14 pm

Chicago has great concert venues, such as The Elbow Room and Schuba’s. I’ve traveled from Cleveland several times to see some of my favorite artists and then spend a couple days in the city with friends.

113 Jill F May 25, 2010 at 12:20 pm

My favorite thing to do in Chicago is to take the free yoga classes offered in Millennium Park on Saturday mornings! I’m also a sucker for the Art Institute (especially the new Modern Wing.) Hooray!

114 Sarah May 25, 2010 at 12:21 pm

Congrats on the sprint triathlon! My goal is to do one later in the summer. I’ve got my marathon this weekend and will miss having a race to train for:) I adore pizza and have never had the Chicago “deep-dish” pizza. I would LOVE to attend the conference and sample some of Chicago’s famous pizza.

115 Juli D. May 25, 2010 at 12:21 pm

Cubs game! Wrigley is one of the most historic ballparks and it’s very intimate. You’ve got to go and have an Old Style and enjoy the game!

116 theprocessofhealing May 25, 2010 at 12:27 pm

3 words.. Deep Dish Pizza!

117 Crystal May 25, 2010 at 12:30 pm

I love the Mag Mile at Christmas and Giordano’s pizza.

118 Gen May 25, 2010 at 12:47 pm

I am a Chicago native and would love to attend the Summit!

Best things about Chicago:

The people 🙂
Running by the lake at sunrise/sunset
Beach volleyball
Rick Bayless restaurants (Topolobampo, Frontera Grill)
Blommer’s Chocolate Factory
P45 (clothing boutique)
East Bank Club (gym)

119 Stephanie May 25, 2010 at 12:48 pm

As a fellow Chicagoan, I’d love to win this ticket! There are too many great places to eat – but Wrigley Field actually has an amazing selection of food this year. There’s this pretzel that comes in the size of a pizza box w/ 3 dipping sauces…it’s carby goodness at it’s best!

120 Grace May 25, 2010 at 1:00 pm

I’ve only been to the airport, unfortunately- but while there, I ate Garrett’s Popcorn!! Delicious!!

121 Lara May 25, 2010 at 1:04 pm

My favorite thing to eat in Chicago is anything at Alinea!

122 Lindsay May 25, 2010 at 1:10 pm

I’ve never been to Chicago but I’d love to try the pizza!

123 Ashley May 25, 2010 at 1:13 pm

As a Chicago native my favorite thing to do would have to be to eat outside at one of the dozens of restaurant patios in the summer… Chicagoans have such cold weather all year that we do NOT take summer for granted 🙂

124 Stefanie B May 25, 2010 at 1:19 pm

I have only been to the Chicago airport so I have never had a chance to explore the city! I know this sounds cliche but if I were to go to Chicago I would have to eat a deep dish pizza! The Healthy Living Summit looks like a blast!!

125 kathleen May 25, 2010 at 1:24 pm

my favorite thing to do in my hometown of chicago is definitely catch a cubs game from the bleachers at wrigley field on a sunny afternoon!

126 Rachael May 25, 2010 at 1:27 pm

I wish I could attend the summit, but alas, I’ll be on the road in the Northeast.
Love the pita eggs in a basket – nice spin on tradition!

127 Katie in DC May 25, 2010 at 1:31 pm

I love to see all my friends who live in the second city!

128 Kim May 25, 2010 at 1:37 pm

Gioradanno’s pizza… or seeing any of my friends and cousins who live in Chicago! 🙂

129 Debs@pamplemousse21 May 25, 2010 at 1:37 pm

I’ve never been to Chicago, being all the way over in England, BUT if there’s a place that does peanut butter frozen yoghurt then that would DEFINATELY be my favourite place to eat!!

130 Ellie May 25, 2010 at 1:38 pm

I live in Chicago! My favorite thing to eat here is gelato at Cafe Istria (in Hyde Park). The BEST gelato I’ve ever had. Check it out if you visit!

131 thewhatkateateblog May 25, 2010 at 1:38 pm

Hot dogs! Im not even a hot dog fan, but when I went to Hot Dougs in Chi-town I feel in love.

132 Lisa P. May 25, 2010 at 1:48 pm

133 Sarah May 25, 2010 at 1:48 pm

Walking along the magnificent mile and navy pier top my list of favorites!

134 Amanda @ Cakes and Ale May 25, 2010 at 1:51 pm

I live in Chicago, so reading these posts is really fun!

My favorite thing to eat here is good, ole Chicago-style deep dish pizza. Lou Malnatis and Chicago’s are my faves!

(A trip to the Weiner Circle for a char dog and cheese fries is also high on my list!)

135 Joanie May 25, 2010 at 1:51 pm

My favorite things to do in Chicago are:
1. Walk around Wrigleyville and go to the dog park with my best friend and her dog.
2. Shop on Michican Avenue
3. Go down to Navy Piere and people watch.
4. I also loved seeing the bean sculpture..know what I am talking about??

I hope I win the ticket!!!

136 MonicaW May 25, 2010 at 1:56 pm

My favorite thing about Chicago is the deep dish pizza mmm!

137 Kate May 25, 2010 at 2:01 pm

I love Garrett’s popcorn! The Chicago mix is just amazing! There is something about mixing cheese popcorn and carmel corn together that it just works.

138 Therese May 25, 2010 at 2:04 pm

I haven’t been to Chicago either. We just moved from Texas to Kansas City, though, and train tickets from KC to Chicago are pretty cheap. My husband and I are hoping to go sometime this summer, but I’d be ecstatic to go this fall, instead, and attend the Summit! I do, of course, want to see the Bean as well as several of my friends who have moved to Chicago in the last few years. *Fingers crossed!*

139 Amy May 25, 2010 at 2:07 pm

I want to eat pizza… and lots of it. I’ve heard the Uno’s in Chicago is out of this world!

140 Emily May 25, 2010 at 2:10 pm

michigan avenue and the lakefront 🙂

141 Kailey (SnackFace) May 25, 2010 at 2:13 pm

Woohoo!!! I want to make it to the HLS so badly! In Chicago, I’d LOVE to go to the Chicago Diner. It’s all-vegan diner food! YUMS. Hope to see y’all there! 🙂 (whoah, where did that y’all come from?)

142 megan May 25, 2010 at 2:14 pm

there is a place called cookie dough creations that i’ve been to once (the only time I was ever near chicago), and I would LOVE to go back. It’s an ice cream place with cookie dough topping. I don’t even know how to describe it, it’s incredible!

143 Cindy May 25, 2010 at 2:20 pm

My favorite thing is to run on the lakefront path or go to the tons of neighborhood art/music festivals that happen all summer!

144 Ashley May 25, 2010 at 2:48 pm

Chicago hands down has the best chili cheese polish sausage dogs and fries ever. And I LOVE the shopping.

145 Sarah May 25, 2010 at 2:54 pm

i love going to lincoln park zoo… it’s free! and lollapalooza… a great, classic music festival!

146 Danika May 25, 2010 at 3:07 pm

I havent been to chi-town ages ago!! I had such a good memory with my family there. Walking around Michigan Ave, people watching, visiting the sears tower (!!) and eating pizza and ice cream!!
Ohh How I wish to go back!!

Thanks for the giveaway!

147 Melissa Cari May 25, 2010 at 3:21 pm

Wow this is amazing. Okay here’s to hoping I win…last time I went to Chicago it was for a business trip so I didn’t get to see much. We did, however, spend an evening on a cruise ship on the Lake Michigan which was pretty amazing. We saw the entire skyline and got a tour of the city from the water. I would love to see and do everything everyone suggests above!

148 runningaroundnormal May 25, 2010 at 3:26 pm

I love Chicago. It’s only 2 hours away from me! My favorite thing to do in Chicago is to go to Bears and Cubs games!! I love the big city sports atmosphere.
And I’d DIE if I got a HLS ticket!!! Was so sad I couldn’t get one during the hour (minutes?) they were selling.

149 Sarah May 25, 2010 at 3:27 pm

My favorite thing to do in Chicago is to go to the Cheesecake Factory!!! We do not have a Cheesecake Factory in Michigan where I live, so whenever I’m in a town that has one it’s pretty much required that I eat there. I like to go for dinner & of coarse, have cheesecake for dessert! They give huge portions, so I always have leftovers (lots, since I have to save room for the cheesecake). I love having Cheesecake Factory leftovers to look forward to when I return home.

150 Lisa May 25, 2010 at 3:37 pm

I love summertime picnics in Millennium Park!

151 brenda May 25, 2010 at 3:53 pm

Comic book shopping at Quimby’s, followed by vegan lunch at Earwax Cafe.

152 Jessica May 25, 2010 at 3:54 pm

Second City comedy shows! When my sister and I were in our early teens, my parents took us to a show that happened to be called “Iraqtile Dysfunction” so it was kind of awkward thematically, but so much fun!

153 Megan May 25, 2010 at 3:57 pm

The best thing to do in Chicago is one of the many architectural tours– specifically one of the boat tours in the summer! It’s a fun, different way to see all the glory of the City’s beautiful buildings. You can also do it on foot or bike though, because it’s such a great walking city 🙂

154 emr1984 May 25, 2010 at 3:59 pm

Frontera Grill is my favorite mexican spot in Chicago.

155 Kelocity May 25, 2010 at 3:59 pm

I love the Bean of course. And the Pizza. But I especially love to see my little SISTER! She’s in grad school in Chicago! I wanted to fly out for the HLS and visit her for a few days, but it sold out. bummer!

156 Jen May 25, 2010 at 4:05 pm

I have only been to Chicago before on business and I did not see much outside of my hotel room and the company I work for but I loved the Hotel Almafi (and their free cocktail hour) and the Bean.

157 Anna S. May 25, 2010 at 4:14 pm

I love the Field Museum!! I’ve loved it since I was a little kid, and I even volunteered there one summer. It is a must see in Chicago for sure.

158 Britton May 25, 2010 at 4:21 pm

I love, love, love Chicago style pizza and the theater district! My favorite night in Chicago involved pizza and Wicked. Best. Night. Ever.

162 Heather May 25, 2010 at 4:59 pm

I absolutely love living here in Chicago, so to pick one thing seem almost unfair, but I would have to say that running on the lake is probably one of my most favorite things to do here. We are so lucky to have the trails and the city looks amazing from the lakefront. A day up in Wrigley is a very close second though 🙂

I also need to plug my boys who made it to the STANLEY CUP!! GO HAWKS!!!

163 Jason May 25, 2010 at 5:00 pm

The architecture in Chicago is amazing given most of the city was rebuilt after the great Chicago fire. That and Wrigley Field rocks!

164 Becky May 25, 2010 at 5:23 pm

SUGAR BLISS CUPCAKES! Such a cute little place and the cupcakes are de-lish!!

166 AmandaK May 25, 2010 at 5:57 pm

I grew up in Chicago, and my favorite restaurant, by far, is Karyn’s Cooked. And I LOVE running along the lake front (but only when it’s warm out!).

171 Becky A. May 25, 2010 at 6:54 pm

After watching Spirit of the Marathon it gave me the itch to go for a long run along side Lake Michigan. The scenes from the movie are so beautiful when the groups are training. I want to feel the spirit and the lake breeeeze!:)

172 Lauren May 25, 2010 at 7:30 pm

Like most people, I am dying to try some Chicago Deep Dish Pizza! 🙂

191 Catherine May 25, 2010 at 11:42 pm

Last time I was in Chicago was a long time ago. And, when I was there, I have a FABULOUS memory of going to the American Girl Place and having a real tea party with my family. Delicious tea and petite fours and mini sandwiches. So that’s my favorite thing to do there 🙂 Great memory.

192 *Andrea* May 26, 2010 at 12:38 am

I’ve never been to chicago but i would love to see the bean!!!

193 Carly May 26, 2010 at 12:55 am

I haven’t been to Chicago outside of O’Hare, but my favourite thing to eat there is Garrett’s popcorn – the cheese and caramel corns just work together perfectly! As an aside, the Cibo Express Market near Terminal 3 has the most amazing vegan chicken salad 🙂

194 May 26, 2010 at 2:56 am

195 Amy May 26, 2010 at 3:49 am

I was minutes away from going to school in Chicago! I love Michigan Ave, but I’ve been to Chicago 5 times and every time it was too foggy to see the lake-so that’s what I would like to see!
