Beautiful weather. Gorgeous beach. Packed sand.
You know where I was this morning…
That’s right – a breath taking run on the beach. Would you expect anything less? 😉
My alarm went off at 7:00 am this morning (woo hoo to sleeping in!) and in less than 5 minutes my running shoes were laced up and I was out the door.
Only one thing was missing.
I miss my garmin. 🙁
Without the garmin I had no clue how far I ran! Instead of focusing on distance, I ran for time. I did 30 minutes out and 30 minutes back for a total of 60 minutes.
Check out my mad self timer skills.
I’ve been taking lessons from Skinny Runner. 😉
(By the way if you are not reading Skinny Runner you should. She is hilarious. Enough said.)
Daytona Beach really has the best sand for running. It’s packed tight so your feet don’t dig in too deep. It still requires extra effort, but nothing you can’t handle.
I was happy to see about a dozen other runners on my run this morning. The beach was surprisingly busy so early in the morning; it made me smile. 😉
Sandy run = sandy shoes
As I was finishing my run, the rest of my family was just waking up. Perfect timing.
After a quick change we all met up for breakfast at a hole in the wall diner across the street from the hotel for breakfast.
The menu was your typical greasy diner food.
I asked the waitress if they had any fresh fruit and she told me no, but that they did have oatmeal (?). I think it should be a rule that any place that serves breakfast also serve fresh fruit. I’m just sayin.
I ended up ordering the pecan waffle with not butter, powder sugar, or whipped cream with a scrambled egg and drizzled it all with a little syrup to moisten it up.
The waffle was ok. It was missing fruit. 🙁
The food really didn’t matter though, what did matter was having the opportunity to have breakfast with my family.
It’s not everyday my Mom has all 4 kids together! I think it made Mother’s Day extra special for my Mommy. 🙂
People always tell say that Kelly & Josh look like my Mom and Ben and I look like my Dad.
I may not have my Mom’s fair skin, blonde hair, or high forehead, but I do have her green eyes, winning smile, and her love for life.
I am my Mother’s daughter… and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Love you Mom! Happy Mother’s Day!!!
After a quick walk on the beach it was time to say good bye.
It was still on the early side, so I stayed a little extra and got some work done on the beach.
What else are netbooks for, right?
On the way home I stopped at Crispers for lunch.
I can’t tell you the last time I had Crispers! It had to have been at least two years considering the name didn’t pop up when I did a search on the blog! 🙂
I tried one of the newish items.
Spring Flatbread Salad Wheat flatbread, caramelized pears, Gorgonzola and Mozzarella cheeses,Spring mix, red onions, candied pecans, red bell pepper, Ranch dressing (sans the dressing)
The flat breads were great. I LOVE gorgonzola cheese on pizza. When it melts, it’s extra strong and flavorful.
As there was quite a bit of cheese already on the flatbread, I thought the additional cheese on the salad was a little overboard. Next time i would request no cheese on the salad and add tomato to the salad instead.
There was so much food! I couldn’t finish it and am saving the last third for lunch tomorrow. 🙂
It feels so good to be home. Why are all my weekends always so busy? Will i ever learn? Probably not. Oh well.
TIme to shop for the week and catch up on a little DVR.
Happy Mother’s Day to all the wonderful Moms (and fur Moms!) out there!!
