Breakfast Bread

by Meghann on April 27, 2010

Two more days! Two more days!!

I am so excited! Not only am I going to San Francisco for an extra long weekend, but it will be pure vacation (except for that whole website launching thingy) and I’m going with Derek! I’ve been working hard lately, I could really use a break away. 🙂

Question: Let’s say I was coming to your house and I was bringing something special from Florida – what would that something special thing be? (Please keep in mind it would have to survive a 5+ hour flight) 😉

I started out this morning with the intention of getting 4 miles in, but before I even reached the half mile mark I decided to try and get 5 in. I managed to completed the 5 miles in 44:35 and felt fantastic. 🙂

Breakfast featured the Breakfast Bread Victoria & Albert’s sent my Dad and I home with in our goodie bag on Saturday night.

I had 1/2 of the mini loaf with almond butter and apple slices.

The bread was really, really moist. It sort of fell apart as I ate it. 🙂

Today is going to be a busy one! I have a 1 hour lunch meeting at noon followed by a 2 hour meeting at 1:00pm. Yikes! So, just as an FYI I will be posting my lunch with my dinner post.

Two more days! Two more days!

That bread looks amazing. 🙂
Have a great day Meghann!

2 Anna April 27, 2010 at 9:08 am

Hmmmm…a coconut?! Lol. Actually, I have no idea!

That bread look so moist! Yum!

3 runningwithsass April 27, 2010 at 9:09 am

hope you have lots of fun on your trip!

4 britchickruns April 27, 2010 at 9:11 am

Haha, to me, ANYTHING from Florida would be special, seeing as I’m in England! Heck, a leaf or a piece of trash would do me fine 😛
Have a good day!

6 Erin April 27, 2010 at 9:14 am

That bread looks incredible–it’s the dinner that keeps on giving. 😉

7 Carolyn @ April 27, 2010 at 9:20 am

Mmmm…I made carrot bread last night, but I’m saving mine for an after lunch snack.

8 Jenny April 27, 2010 at 9:24 am

I’d bring citrus or those coconut patties at the airport!

9 clairedille April 27, 2010 at 9:24 am

I don’t know a good florida treat..sorry!

But San Francisco is my second fave US city and I am sure you will have a blast with Derek!

10 jentrinque April 27, 2010 at 9:25 am

All I can think of to bring from Florida is something that’s grown there, like oranges or something. You could bake something special using Florida ingredients? You could bring an alligator?

11 Jenna April 27, 2010 at 9:30 am

How about some warmth and sunshine? 🙂

Two more days, you can do it! It will go by in no time.

12 Kelly April 27, 2010 at 9:30 am

I want to go to Cali so bad, so jealous! Umm sand from a beach?

13 Melissa April 27, 2010 at 9:39 am

Hey Meghann! Just wondering – what do you normally eat before you go for a run in the morning? I’m usually starving, but then my stomach hurts when I run when I eat a full breakfast. Just wondering, thanks!!

14 Meghann April 27, 2010 at 10:13 am

I usually have a bit of a bar or something. This morning I had a handful of cereal and then hit the road.

15 Melissa April 27, 2010 at 9:40 am

oh and my suggestion for something to bring? something from disney maybe? or oranges?

16 Christina April 27, 2010 at 9:41 am

You can bring a seashell. Or something from Disney!

17 Hangry Pants April 27, 2010 at 9:44 am

Something in the shape of Mickey Mouse.

18 Beth April 27, 2010 at 9:45 am

A bag of fresh oranges – they travel well and would make my day!

19 BethT April 27, 2010 at 10:05 am

I’d vote to bring Maddie. She fits under the seat, right?

20 Meghann April 27, 2010 at 10:13 am

haha! I’m not sure you could handle the craziness that is Maddie. 🙂

21 DiningAndDishing April 27, 2010 at 10:17 am

I think the best thing from Florida is oranges!! Although I’m not sure they’re in season now??

Mmm I love moist crumbly breads like that! I’m kind of dangerous, I’ve been known to eat like half a loaf (NOT a mini loaf!) in one sitting. They don’t fill me up that much, unfortunately!

23 Anne @ Your Kind of Salad April 27, 2010 at 10:22 am

I vote for something KEY LIME! I’m a sucker for all things key lime-y and think those coconut-key lime bars or those yummy little key lime cooler cookies or the key lime chocolate would make a beautiful hostess gift.

Have a great trip!

24 Cheryl H. April 27, 2010 at 10:33 am

Take it from a native, California is a large oranges producer, too, so that wouldn’t be as cool as maybe dried kiwi. I don’t think I have ever found that here. It always looks so cool in your pics and I have wondered where it find it here in Northern California.

Enjoy the city ~ it’s a wonderful place to explore. Be sure to see North Beach area (great restaurants) and the Marina District, oh and the Presidio, Golden Gate Park and Ocean Beach if you have time. That’s just a short list, but have a wonderful time!!!

25 Andrea @ Run, Eat, Date, Sleep April 27, 2010 at 10:54 am

I may be biased since I have an addiction for all things Disney, so I’d probably bring something from Disney. Not something cutesy or tacky, but maybe some kind of treat like cookies or Alice in Wonderland tea.

26 theprocessofhealing April 27, 2010 at 10:57 am

You’re going to have sooooo much fun!!!! I’m so jealous!
Maybe a Florida orange? Or maybe some other kinds of tropical flavored items like key lime cookies?

27 hibou52 April 27, 2010 at 11:01 am

I bet Derek is going to propose in san francisco 🙂

I’ll be there this weekend too. If someone randomly waves to you and acts like a total freak, that would be me.

ps first comment, longtime (since the very start) reader!

28 Debbie~ April 27, 2010 at 11:04 am

When I think of Florida I think of Key Lime pie, but since you have a long flight I would go with the key lime coconut patties…those are so yummy!!

29 Jason April 27, 2010 at 11:36 am

Enjoy San Fran going there myself for the first time tomorrow. Long time reader, first time poster.

I found a good route near my hotel to run on. Planning on getting a 8 & 12 miler in myself on this route.

30 hundredtenpounds April 27, 2010 at 11:39 am

31 Lauren @ eater not a runner April 27, 2010 at 11:59 am

32 Nicole April 27, 2010 at 12:11 pm

I just came back from San Francisco! It was such a blast- I just finished up the posts on my blog about it. I think you’ll love it there!

33 hanna April 27, 2010 at 12:28 pm

how do you take so many days off for various things like marathons and mini vacays?? just wondering how that works and how your employer doesn’t seem to mind…

34 Matt April 27, 2010 at 12:35 pm

Mmmm that bread looks tasty 😉

35 dianacheung April 27, 2010 at 12:53 pm

I think you should take something you can only get at publix or something publix is known for! are you staying with any bloggers in california?

36 lowandbhold April 27, 2010 at 1:09 pm

I agree with the orange suggestion.

The bread looks phenomenal!

37 missyrayn April 27, 2010 at 2:29 pm

A citrus flavored treat is wonderful. Or something beachy would be fun.

And my favorite kinds of breakfast breads are the ones that fall apart. Much more fun to eat.

38 kendra April 27, 2010 at 2:52 pm

I live in San Francisco, and after reading everyones ideas in the comments, I vote for something from Publix. I keep reading about Publix in all the blogs, but there are none in San Francisco. Bring us something they’re known for! 😉
Are you going to be having any meet-ups? For fans and avid readers?

39 runnerforever April 27, 2010 at 3:08 pm

That bread sure does look moist…yum!

40 Casey April 27, 2010 at 3:14 pm

My fave thing about Florida that I can’t get around here are BEACHES! So maybe some sand in a bottle or a pretty collection of seashells or something…touristy, but fun.

41 thewhatkateateblog April 27, 2010 at 3:31 pm

Hooray for relaxation! Bring some mamey fruit (I forget how to spell it!).

42 Jenna April 27, 2010 at 3:32 pm

43 joy April 27, 2010 at 5:26 pm
