A Puppy Celebration

by Meghann on April 25, 2010

So what does one do the morning after an 8 course meal?

Well they go for a 10 mile run of course. ๐Ÿ™‚

After last night’s feast I wasn’t sure how I would feel getting out of bed this morning, but in all honesty I felt great. Granted I wasn’t hungry at all (very unlike me), but I didn’t feel sick and I felt like I had energy to boot!

I met the Orlando Runner’s Club in downtown Winter Park for what would be my first double digit run since my 50k at the beginning of the month. I took off with the front pack of runners and was surprised how easily I could keep up. The group kept an 8:30 pace for all 10 miles and I fell right in line with that. Not only was I able to keep up, but I was able to hold a conversation and never got too out of breath. Not bad considering I’ve done zilch speed work lately. ๐Ÿ˜‰

After my run I came back home for an easy bowl of post-run cereal.

  • 1/2 cup Maddie Wishes This Was her Cereal
  • 1/2 cup Multigrain Cherrios
  • 1/2 cup Honey Puffs
  • Chocolate Oikos
  • Strawberries
  • Naturally Nutty Toffee Butter Peanut Butter

I finished my bowl and proceeded to spend TWO HOURS writing my Foodbuzz 24, 24, 24 post! Yep, that’s right – two hours! I wanted to make sure I included every last details. I hope you guys enjoyed the entry as much as I did!

As soon as the post went up I had to scramble to gather my stuff together and meet my family at the dog park for a little puppy birthday celebration.

Since Maddie’s Birthday was yesterday and my sister’s dog Oliver’s birthday is tomorrow we all got together for a little birthday party.

Scooby was invited too!

While the dog’s enjoyed the grass and sunshine, the humans had a lovely picnic spread.

I had a roasted veggie sandwich with cheese and hummus on an onion roll with chips and fruit.

I think we stayed at the park for well over two hours. The dogs had a blast!

I love how this particular dog park has a bathing station for the dogs right by the exit.

Maddie was so fresh and clean for the car ride home!

The rest of my afternoon was spent with Maddie on the couch. We both enjoyed being lazy for once and made sure to soak in every relaxed minute we could. ๐Ÿ™‚

When dinner time came I kept it easy with my version of sloppy joe fries.

On the bottom is roasted potato wedges and on top is tempeh sloppy joe mix that included

  • tempeh
  • carrot
  • onion
  • mushrooms
  • mushrooms
  • ketchup
  • bbq sauce
  • homey mustard

This is what I call comfort food. ๐Ÿ™‚

Dessert involved the left over chocolate from last night’s dinner.

I had one of each plus the last of the greek pasteries.

What a busy weekend this has been! I think I’ll still need to take in some more ‘me’ time before the work week starts all over again. At least it’s a short one!

Good night!

A few weeks ago my Dad introduced me to this really cool on-demand channel that reviews restaurants all over Central Florida. I must have watched all 10 of the 5 minute on demand segments that morning. A couple of the restaurants I had been to, some I instantly added to my ‘must- try’ list, and more ยป
