My Hometown

by Meghann on April 13, 2010

There is something about enjoying a beautifully plated lunch while dining al fresco that just screams summer to me.

At least that’s what it felt like to me today. The temperature outside is amazing and there is barely a cloud in the sky. I figured if I am going to be stuck inside at my desk for the other 8 hours of my day, I might as well enjoy at least one of them outside.

To top off the great weather, I also ate a great lunch.

My whole wheat pita pizza was topped with marinara sauce, kale, artichoke hearts, sundried tomatoes, mushrooms, and swiss cheese then baked at 415 for 5 minutes.

The pizza was simple, yet delicious.

On the side a refreshing pear.

My mid-morning snack was a serving of peanut butter pretzels.

Welcome to Titusville, FL

This YouTube video has been floating around Facebook and you can’t help, but laugh when you watch it. I’m sure anyone from a small town will appreciate.

Ladies and Gentlemen I am err proud to introduce to you my hometown – Titusville, FL.

1 Chloe April 13, 2010 at 1:51 pm

Ha ha, love small towns as well as small town movie makers 😉 And that pizza looks great, I’m so envious of your lovely Florida weather. Send some up here!

2 Allie (Live Laugh Eat) April 13, 2010 at 1:52 pm

This reminds me of last summer when I interned down on Hilton Head Island. The weather was gorgeous and the beach was steps away but I was stuck at my desk for 8 hours!! I would park my car super far away just so I could savor the sunshine for a few more steps.

3 britchickruns April 13, 2010 at 1:55 pm

Haha! Wpw that video really sells the place…love it!!
Great pizza, and I agree with Chloe – I want some hot weather!

4 Trish April 13, 2010 at 2:00 pm

Oh goodness! I couldn’t imagine growing up in such a small town. I grew up in Boston – right in the city. I used to take the subway to school. 🙂

6 Meghann April 13, 2010 at 3:02 pm

I always go home for lunch 🙂

7 Samantha Angela @ Bikini Birthday April 13, 2010 at 2:00 pm

Where did you get that dish?

8 Meghann April 13, 2010 at 3:02 pm

My brother bought it for me for Christmas. I think he got it at Kohls?

9 Runeatrepeat April 13, 2010 at 2:01 pm

Ha! That video is funny and reminds me of Ben’s hometown 🙂 Where he wants me to move 🙁

10 Erin April 13, 2010 at 2:03 pm

Yum — homemade pizza is on the menu for tonight and I can’t wait! So much goodness. 😀 I was born and raised in Washington, DC, and can’t imagine growing up in a small town like that.

11 Diana April 13, 2010 at 2:03 pm

Ahaha Love the video. 😛
And that pizza looks really good! 🙂

12 Erin @ Cooking and the City April 13, 2010 at 2:11 pm

Yum!!! That pizza looks so good. Do you just use a regular size whole wheat pita as the crust?

13 theprocessofhealing April 13, 2010 at 2:14 pm

That pizza looks delicious!!! I need to get my hands on some pitas.

14 Rachel @ Shedding It April 13, 2010 at 2:14 pm

WOW that looks REALLY delicious!

15 Kelly April 13, 2010 at 2:18 pm

Yum, I had some of those pretzels today too. So good! Haha oh gotta love small towns!

16 Bethany @ Not Unless I'm Being Chased April 13, 2010 at 2:19 pm

Haha, “most bestest place in the world” is quite an honor for your hometown ;).
I think some students made a similar video of our town…it was equally charming.

P.S. I’m having pizza envy right now! Looks so good.

17 Diane April 13, 2010 at 2:29 pm

Ahh, T-ville! Hahaha, I have relatives there who we always visit on our Florida trips. It is so boring! And that river! It smells so bad! I do love Sunshine Bread. And sitting on the porch playing cards. However, it’s always great to drive on back to where we stay (with other relatives) in Winter Park at the end of the visit…

Did you go to Astronaut High School?

18 Meghann April 13, 2010 at 3:08 pm

Yep. Class of ’03. Go War Eagles!

19 Derek April 13, 2010 at 3:18 pm

22 missyrayn April 13, 2010 at 2:38 pm

I love pizzas like that. I open the fridge and see what I can throw on for the day.

23 Rose April 13, 2010 at 2:58 pm

That pizza looks delish. LOVE ARTICHOKES.

Is this video funny? I really want to watch but can’t at work. Drat!

24 Lauren @ Eater not a runner April 13, 2010 at 3:02 pm

Gotta enjoy that nice weather while you can! Love the pizza….yum 🙂

25 Hangry Pants April 13, 2010 at 3:10 pm

(1) Please go to the roller skating rink.

(2) Astronaut High School? That is awesome!

26 Meghann April 13, 2010 at 3:16 pm

The funny thing is the skating rink was THE place to go when I was in elementry school, but it burnt down a few years back. I’m actually surprised its in this video.

27 Amelia April 13, 2010 at 3:26 pm

Ha! That video reminds me of my hometown growing up. 🙂
My husband grew up in Vero Beach and years ago his dad used to commute to Titusville for work. His favorite restaurant? Dixie Crossroads.

28 Sammi April 13, 2010 at 3:45 pm

That pizza looks amazing.
That video was hilarious 🙂 Hey, my town doesn’t even have a wal mart, mall, movie theater, or bowling alley. We do have a mcdonalds (only one. lol) and a 7-11. We have a museum too! haha (it’s va, I think it’s mandatory for towns/cities to have museums in virginia lol)
We also have our own little overpriced seafood restaurant 🙂 (where I work, lucky me lol)
Unfortunately, my town doesn’t have a song 🙁 lol

29 Matt April 13, 2010 at 3:55 pm

I love eating outside, but it has actually been a little warm for that lately at lunch time 🙁

30 Morgan @ Life After Bagels April 13, 2010 at 3:58 pm

I’m currently at the library (where you cannot eat food, yet I always try and get caught) and feel like RUNNING out of here to go get some pretzels!!!!!!!!!!!

31 Anna @ Newlywed, Newly Veg April 13, 2010 at 4:09 pm

I love eating lunch and dinner outside in the summer! It feels like being at an outdoor cafe, or something 🙂

32 kate April 13, 2010 at 4:53 pm

So these whole wheat pita pizzas?

(They’re like the “kitchen sink” pizza for me – anything random or left over or going bad next goes on top!)

–with copious amounts of garlic salt.

33 Kelly April 13, 2010 at 5:24 pm

What a great pizza and I love those PB preztels! My mother-in-law always has them out and I can go to town! haha!

34 bakebikeblog April 13, 2010 at 6:00 pm

LOVE the idea of adding artichoke to the pizza…YUM!

35 jentrinque April 13, 2010 at 7:15 pm

That video was pretty funny…I think most people feel that way about their hometowns! When I go home (which is rare, since it’s hundreds and hundreds of miles away!) I’m always really glad I don’t live there! But when I met kids/young adults who live in the town I live now, they’re always wondering why the heck I would want to live here!

36 Jenna April 13, 2010 at 7:56 pm

loveee juicy pears- had one for lunch as well 😉

37 Dori April 13, 2010 at 8:14 pm

HAHAHAHA that video!! Hilarious!

38 healthy ashley April 14, 2010 at 10:00 am

That video is HYSTERICAL!

39 Charlotte April 18, 2010 at 3:27 am
