Popping my Ultra Cherry!

Eekkk….. It’s official – I’m popping my Ultra Cherry tomorrow! ๐Ÿ™‚

I’ve got the race number to prove it and everything. Now all I need to do is run it. ๐Ÿ™‚

The drive to Brooksville was a gorgeous one this afternoon. I turned up my favorite country station and just enjoyed the smooth ride through the back roads. There is something so relaxing about country roads as opposed to boring interstates.

One the drive I snacked on a new-to-me Nature Valley Oats ‘n Dark Chocolate Bar.

Mmm.. this bar was great. It tasted just like a chocolate chip oatmeal cookie. ๐Ÿ™‚

I met Kelly and Caitlin at the motel and we headed to the race site to pick up our packets.

The race is capped at 250 participants and sold out a couple of weeks ago. This race is small potatoes compared to the Chicago Marathon I’ll be running in October that is capped at 45,000 runners and sold out last week.

The trail doesn’t look quite as scary as I remember it ๐Ÿ˜‰

We made the fatal mistake last year of relying on the local cuisine for our pre-race meal. BBQ from the local smokehouse does not a great pre-race meal make. ๐Ÿ™

Thankfully we wised up in the last year and all pitched in this year for a nice picnic dinner instead.

  • I brought a black bean salad and a massaged kale salad
  • Caitlin brought fruit salad
  • Kelly brought pasta salad
  • Ashley brought cookies!

I loaded my plate up with a little bit of everything.

Plus, more chips and fruit. ๐Ÿ™‚

BIG THANKS to Ashley for giving each os us our own giant chocolate chip cookie from Whole Foods!

Don’t worry – I ate it all! ๐Ÿ™‚

I love traveling for races, especially with such great girlfriends! I have been in need of some serious girl time and these girls know how to deliver. I can’t wait to run with them tomorrow.

The alarm is set and the garmins are all charge. The race is on! Let the poppin’ begin. ๐Ÿ™‚

Tedious First, Fun Later

Just a few more hours until Iโ€™m hitting the road for middle-of-nowhere Florida! My car is packed with everything I could possibly need for tonight and tomorrow, so all I have to do is jump in the car and head out when the end of work whistle blows. Yay! My morning was full of tedious more ยป

Beating Rush Hour

When I first moved from Tallahassee to Orlando a couple of years ago, I was jobless and homeless. Luckily my loving parents were willing to take me in rent free. (or you know I sort of moved in without asking. But hey, what are parents for?)  I lived at home for about a month before more ยป
