Great for Notes, Great for Food!

by Meghann on March 29, 2010

Short on time? Too lazy to walk to the kitchen for a napkin? Trying to portion control a bag of trail mix without dirtying a plate?

I’ve got your answer right here!

Note Pads! They’re not just for taking notes.

They also make great impromptu plates when all of the above criteria apply. 😉

Hey, it’s better than eating right off the desk! 😉

I know, I know – I’m a nerd.

My lunch today was originally intended to be my post-run breakfast yesterday.

I had purchased a French Toast bagel at the Farmer’s Market on Saturday as a post-run treat, but when I made it back to the apartment all I wanted was a smoothie. The bagel still made a great addition to my lunch.

I toasted the bagel and topped one half with Crofter’s Superfruit Spread and an egg white.

The other half was smeared with my latest obsession – Naturally Nutty Cinnamon Vanilla Sunflower Seed Butter.

I almost combined the two halve to make a sandwich, but I thought it would be best to enjoy and savor each halves separately. This meant more time to chew and enjoy. 🙂

My plate needed something. Fresh asparagus easily filled that void.

I have plans after work tonight to meet Ashley for baptiste yoga downtown. I’ve never taken a baptiste yoga class before and am very interested to give it a try. I love trying new things, I think that’s what makes life fun!  🙂

Haha I reguarly use my notes and books as snack plates 😛 not good though when you get a little bit of chocolate melted on!
Have a good afternoon 🙂

Crofter’s and egg whites are AMAZING together! Yum!!!

3 Heather March 29, 2010 at 2:17 pm

i really don’t have words for how in love i am with asparagus right now…it looks perfect paired with that bagel! hope your yoga is fun tonight 🙂

4 megan March 29, 2010 at 2:21 pm

how did you get your egg white in that unique shape?

5 Meghann March 29, 2010 at 2:23 pm

I microwaved it in a shallow bowl and when I pulled it out of the bowl it torn a hole in the middle.

Too funny about the notepads! I do the same thing–and I probably use more notepads as mini-plates than as actual notes.

I’m going green with envy over that asparagus…. No such thing here in the tropical Trinidad, so pretty please savor a bite of green deliciousness on my behalf 🙂

i use notepads as napkins too. so convenient.

i’d love to hear about baptiste yoga. never heard of it.

1. What is Baptiste yoga? 2. How do you make an egg white the same shape as a bagel?? Maybe I should already know this, but I don’t 🙂

9 Meghann March 29, 2010 at 2:46 pm

1. I think it’s hot yoga

2. I microwaved the egg white in a shallow bowl and when I pulled it out of the bowl it torn a hole in the middle.

10 jentrinque March 29, 2010 at 2:35 pm

I meant with a hole in the middle of the egg white!

11 Lauren @ Eater not a runner March 29, 2010 at 2:35 pm

I eat right off my desk….no shame 😉

Have fun at yoga!

So amusing about the notepads. I find that the yellow post it notes work quite well too in terms of portion control.

13 Beth March 29, 2010 at 2:41 pm

I use paper towels and napkins all the time, but i’m trying to use a real plate more so everything feels like more of a meal…. i’m getting better!

14 Kristina @MendonPondMusings March 29, 2010 at 2:43 pm

Can’t wait to hear how you enjoy the class. My local studio is Baptiste – bring an extra towel! There will be lots of sweat.

15 Amy @ Second City Randomness March 29, 2010 at 2:46 pm

I won’t lie- I’ve eaten off the desk before…

I know- eeeewwwww. I’m convinced I have an immunity system of steel…

16 Anna March 29, 2010 at 2:51 pm

Mmmm…I love dried strawberries in trail mix! Yum!

17 Whitney @ Lettuce Love March 29, 2010 at 2:52 pm

Haha I love eating lunch right off of my work papers. Classy 🙂

18 Sarah March 29, 2010 at 2:55 pm

Baptiste yoga is the first kind I tried- I fell in love! I tend to have a lot of thoughts racing around in my mind at one time, but baptiste yoga forced me to focus on the NOW (or else I would fall over! I’m not naturally graceful!). That’s what got me to keep going in the beginning. Now? I attend yoga classes because they work my muscle and lead to a deep appreciation for my body and what it can do (instead of picking on myself, which I have a tendency to do).
I hope you enjoy your class:).

19 Rachel (Suburban Yogini) March 29, 2010 at 3:07 pm

My notepads are covered in tea stains and crumbs 😀

20 prettyladycmu March 29, 2010 at 3:09 pm

I definitely eat off of notepads all the time at work. Could be worse, right? And at least you aren’t just reaching into the bag over and over again! Have a great time at Baptiste tonight. I’m sure you’ll enjoy it!

21 coffeeandberries March 29, 2010 at 3:15 pm

Hi! I love your blog! And I do the same thing, using notebooks as a “plate.” It’s so funny to be studying later and come across that page with some crumbs still stuck to it. Haha 🙂

22 lowandbhold March 29, 2010 at 3:16 pm

I’ve never heard of Baptiste yoga, sounds really interesting! Love the combo of egg and jam!

23 Jenny March 29, 2010 at 4:05 pm

Have fun tonight!

24 missyrayn March 29, 2010 at 4:14 pm

I use my notebook as a plate all the time.

How did you get the egg white so perfectly to fit the bagel.

25 Lisa (bakebikeblog) March 29, 2010 at 4:15 pm

I LOVE asparagus too 🙂 So yummy!
Have fun at Yoga!

26 eatdrinkandbemerrynyc March 29, 2010 at 4:22 pm

Ha I ALWAYS eat my snack on my to do list! Amazing 🙂

27 Katie @ Health for the Whole Self March 29, 2010 at 4:36 pm

I eat off of post-it note and notebooks all the time…your posts always have such cute themes, I love it! 🙂

28 christina cadden March 29, 2010 at 5:12 pm

mmm, looks good.

29 jessica March 29, 2010 at 5:58 pm

I eat off of post-its all the time 🙂

30 Katherine: What About Summer? March 29, 2010 at 7:57 pm

That is quite a combo. I’m like way paranoid about germs and eating off things (especially my notes for school: circuits and other engineering notes definitely must be infectious)

31 M. March 29, 2010 at 8:51 pm

I LOVEEEEEE Baptiste (hot power flow Baptiste style)

Can’t wait for your review of it!

Also-is that asparagus uncooked -it looks like it and wonder how you could eat it that way?!!

32 Meghann March 29, 2010 at 8:57 pm

I LOVE uncooked asparagus! It’s so crispy and refreshing!

33 Emilyeatsclean March 29, 2010 at 9:10 pm!!!!!!!!! How did you get your egg white prefectly round like your bagel….I thought it was cream cheese! Ha! 🙂

34 Gabriela (froyolover) March 29, 2010 at 9:28 pm

YUM for bagels!
Have a great week, Meghann!
