Lunchtime Friends

by Meghann on January 26, 2010

In case you were wondering Chia Seed Pudding has very little staying power. Either I didn’t add enough almond butter or my body was really missing the last 1/4 of discarded pudding, but my stomach was growling at 9:30.

It was so bad I decided to break into my midmorning snack of Meghann’s Fruity Crunch cereal a tad on the early side.

FYI: this 1/2 cup serving of cereal had more staying power the the bowl of chia seed pudding. Oh well.

I was really excited for my lunch break today! Probably because I knew I was going to be joining some of my favorite people at one of my favorite spots for an hour of good eats and catch up.

Ashley, Ryan, Caitlin, and Katy had yoga this morning and invited Megan and I to join them at Infusion Tea during our lunch hour. I happened to work in the vicinity so it worked out perfectly.

I don’t go out for lunch very often, so when I do its always a nice midweek treat.

For my meal I ordered a lunch combo that included 1/2 a salad topped liberally with hummus and tabouli and 1/2 a sandwich with more hummus and tabouli.

I love Infusion Tea because their food always tastes so fresh and flavorful.

Plus their balsamic dressing is out of the world good!

Once I left the restaurant I was having major chocolate cravings. A fun bag of M&Ms from my secret desk stash fixed that problem.

Mmm… chocolate! 😉

It was fun meeting the girls for lunch. It really broke up my work day and now I feel ready to tackle the rest of today’s tasks.

Girls – We need to do this more often!

Back to work I go!

Aww, what a fun lunch! I wish more of my friends were able to get all the way on this side of town during my lunch hour 🙂 Looks like you all had a nice time. The salad and sandwich looks delish!

sounds like such a fun lunch! I hardly ever go out to lunch, but I agree that it’s such a nice break in the middle of the day. I played racquetball during my lunch break today and it was awesome!

I wouldve thought the chias would gel in your tummy but oh well

4 theprocessofhealing January 26, 2010 at 2:03 pm

About the chias.. you live, you learn. Now you know 🙂

Yummy looking lunch!!!

5 greensandjeans January 26, 2010 at 2:07 pm

I’m jealous that you have such wonderful food options so close to your office!

6 Erin January 26, 2010 at 2:21 pm

I love the food there and often go with my husband for something light.

7 Lish January 26, 2010 at 2:24 pm

Wow, your a lucky girl to have such good friends near by, I’ve been feeling kind of lonely these days, my besties all moved away and now that I have a 4 year old in my life, its hard to have a social life period.

8 Megan (The Runner's Kitchen) January 26, 2010 at 2:35 pm

I usually sit at my desk for lunch (bleh), so it’s a nice treat when I can get away for a spin class (today!) or meet my girlfriends for lunch. That balsamic dressing drizzle looks fantastic!

9 Molly @vegandorm January 26, 2010 at 2:41 pm

I always find chia to be supeeerrrr filling, like it expands in my stomach! Strange – different bodies, I guess!

10 Karla January 26, 2010 at 2:41 pm

How fun!!
Just out of curiosity, were you all friends who happen to have blogs or did you meet through blogging?

11 Meghann January 26, 2010 at 2:43 pm

We all kind of met through blogging. Atleast thats how I met everyone. 🙂

12 Nicole of Raspberry Stethoscope January 26, 2010 at 2:46 pm

It’s so nice that all you girls who share such common interests live so close. totally jealous.

13 Heather (Heather's Dish) January 26, 2010 at 2:48 pm

16 Lily @ Lily's Health Pad January 26, 2010 at 3:05 pm

What a fun lunch! I wish I had a lunch break longer than 30 minutes so I could go meet friends.

17 Tammy Eros January 26, 2010 at 3:17 pm

Looks like a great lunch!

19 Erin January 26, 2010 at 3:37 pm

Every time I see this place on the blog, it makes me wish we had a similar restaurant here in DC.

20 Rachel January 26, 2010 at 3:43 pm

I love that you have a secret stash in your drawer at work, haha. So cute!

21 foodfitnessandfreya January 26, 2010 at 3:50 pm

Awh what a nice lunch out! I love it when bloggers meet up – I juse saw Caitlin had written about it on Healthy Tipping Point 🙂
Glad you had a good time!

22 veronica January 26, 2010 at 4:08 pm

23 Katy ( The Balanced Foodie ) January 26, 2010 at 4:09 pm

Got to see you two days in a row! Woohoo! 🙂 Thanks for joining us, so fun!

24 Marissa January 26, 2010 at 4:18 pm

What a fun lunch bunch!

25 K January 26, 2010 at 4:20 pm

I don’t think your chia seed pudding had many calories in it at all (less than 300) so that is probably why it didn’t keeo you full!! When I run, I generally need a 400 calorie breakfast to keep me full. Your lunch looks great!

26 eaternotarunner January 26, 2010 at 4:28 pm

That looks like a great lunch! What a cute looking restaurant.

27 Jamie (Food in Real Life) January 26, 2010 at 4:49 pm

Your lunch looks awesome! I love the balsamic. It looks like they used a glaze or something. I am a huge fan of a product called Blaze, which is a balsamic glaze that I squeeze on lots of things!

28 Lisa (bakebikeblog) January 26, 2010 at 5:22 pm

Lunch with friends…..LOVE IT!

29 Joey January 26, 2010 at 5:23 pm

Yeah I’m jealous of the good food & the good friendships!!! It is awesome that you all have each other for a support system as far as healthy living.

30 Heather January 26, 2010 at 5:52 pm

What a great looking lunch place – and great company too!

It is fun to do something different to break up the week – hopefully you are able to do it again soon.

31 Niki @ Niki's Neverending Adventure January 26, 2010 at 6:27 pm

Yum! Your food looks delish! Wish I could find some places like Infusion Tea around here! Have a great rest of the day!!

32 Heather January 26, 2010 at 7:00 pm

What a fun lunch- and check out that awesome looking salad!

33 learningtocookeatandenjoydeliciousfood January 26, 2010 at 7:44 pm

It sounds like you had a ton of fun!! I wish that I lived in Florida, but I am planning on moving there after I finish college because I already have a job offer!! 😉

34 Jenna January 26, 2010 at 8:26 pm

Well I don’t think we will be seeing chia seeds for your breakfast anymore! Hah.
Lunch date looks fun!!

35 TorontoGirloutWest January 26, 2010 at 8:35 pm

How fun!!! And how lucky you all are to
live so close to one another!

36 Gracie January 26, 2010 at 9:17 pm

An un-filling breakfast is the worst :/ It sets me off on the wrong foot all day long! And lately it takes a ton of protein to fill me up….

37 meyergirl January 26, 2010 at 11:12 pm

Oh, man, I could really use some chocolate right now!

38 Amanda @ Cakes and Ale January 27, 2010 at 9:33 am

What a cute place! Doesn’t hummus on a salad just make it so awesome? I do think almost every day for work… pack a salad with hummus on top, I mean. Hummus could probably make anything delicious.
