Double Bagging It

by Meghann on January 14, 2010

It has been a two tea bag kind of morning.

All the data entry I was performing this morning had *this close* to snoozing on my keyboard. A boost of caffeine was desperately needed and I knew the double tea bag cup always did the trick.

Unfortunately I drank my big cup of very strong tea about 90 minutes after chomping into my very light mid morning snack of a sample sized Nature Valley granola bar that was left over from my ski trip.

The granola bar had very little staying power and by the time I had the tea I practically had an empty stomach.

I learned a very important lesson:

Empty Stomach + Big Cup of Strong Tea = Upset Tummy

The tea kept me awake, but I felt uncomfortably nauseous until lunch time. Thankfully lunch wasn’t too far off and after a few bites of real food my stomach was already back to its happy go-lucky self. πŸ™‚

Today’s lunch featured a lazy girl’s platter of veggies and left over sushi.

The sushi was the remains of Tuesday night’s Shoreline Combo.

The veggies included zucchini, a carrot, and aspargus

Plus some lovely pita chips and a pickle

All dipped in a beautiful glob of hummus

Now let’s see if I can keep myself from snoozing the remainder of the afternoon. I have a lot of sleep to catch up on this weekend!

I love Stash tea! My favorites are the chai and the green chai. those are the only kinds I drink at the moment πŸ™‚

Mmmm….looks like a yummy lunch! πŸ™‚ I’ll have to give that tea a try! Data entry is the worst. πŸ™‚

Damn, now I want sushi! πŸ˜‰

5 Evan Thomas January 14, 2010 at 3:32 pm

Lol, double bagging, that makes me laugh for all the wrong reasons

6 Erin January 14, 2010 at 3:33 pm

I love platter lunches — they’re so much fun to eat! πŸ˜€

I’m on my second bag of tea for the day. Love it but it makes me pee all day… πŸ˜‰

Raw veggies and hummus sounds soooo good right now!

I’ve never double bagged it! At starbucks they always ask if I want two bags and I always say 1, why two?! Plenty delicious with one!

8 Chelsea January 14, 2010 at 3:37 pm

Ohhh…that sushi looks so good. I may be getting sushi for lunch now πŸ™‚

9 Becca January 14, 2010 at 3:38 pm

yummm….I’m craving sushi now! Looks delicious!

10 gina January 14, 2010 at 3:40 pm

why didnt you eat more if your snack wasnt enough?

11 Samantha January 14, 2010 at 3:46 pm

Data entry is what I do all day, every day! your lunches always look amazing, and fresh. Wish i had time to run home and eat on my lunch break!!

12 Jenna January 14, 2010 at 3:50 pm

Hummus looks great!!

13 anna January 14, 2010 at 4:02 pm

I agree with gina, your lunch looks like a snack not a meal

14 JessicaE January 14, 2010 at 4:13 pm

Gosh I know what you mean about the tea! Black tea on an empty tummy makes me feel sicker than COFFEE! Who woulda thunk πŸ˜‰

15 Alison January 14, 2010 at 4:17 pm

Strong tea on an empty stomach doesn’t sit well with me, either. Ugh, I learned that lesson the hard way a few years ago.
That hummus (with pine nuts?) looks really tasty.

16 eaternotarunner January 14, 2010 at 4:22 pm

I have made the same mistake, not fun!

17 foodfitnessandfreya January 14, 2010 at 4:23 pm

:s I don’t know how you can drink tea – I think it just tastes like dirty water!!
I lovee hummus, but I don’t think I could ever just buy it cheaply in a shop again; I went to a fancy Moroccan restaurant last night, and the hummus was out of this world!! It shamed all the other hummus’ lol!!

18 Abby January 14, 2010 at 4:28 pm

LOVE your snack plate.. all my favorites! Stash tea is the best.. I drink about 3-4 cups of green a day!

19 fromatopink January 14, 2010 at 4:38 pm

LOVE sushi! I can never get enough of it! And I’m super jealous of your ability to go home and grab lunch. πŸ™‚

20 Ami January 14, 2010 at 4:42 pm

Umm…eating sushi two days after you bought it is mighty dangerous! That looks like raw fish, not just veggie sushi and I dont know how safe that is!

21 Heather @ The Joyful Kitchen January 14, 2010 at 4:44 pm

blech, i HATE data entry πŸ™ your lunch looks delish though…and not lazy at all!

hope the rest of the day goes quickly for you! πŸ™‚

22 Anna January 14, 2010 at 5:06 pm

Ugh– I get nauseous like that when I drink coffee on an empty stomach. Nauseous, or *worse* if you know what I mean…not pretty πŸ™‚

23 Ali January 14, 2010 at 5:12 pm

Oh, that little plate looks great! I love a little plate of all different leftovers from the fridge, economical and tasty!

24 Matt January 14, 2010 at 5:17 pm

Haha I read this just as I was about to fall asleep here at work πŸ˜‰

25 Gracie January 14, 2010 at 5:29 pm

your meals are always so *balanced*…and beautiful! I had sushi for lunch too πŸ™‚

26 Lisa January 14, 2010 at 5:50 pm

I’m second what Ami said–I’d be careful eating raw fish a few days after purchasing it. Most supermarket sushi I’ve seen specifically says on the package to consume the day you buy it. It’s not worth risking getting sick!

27 Lisa (bakebikeblog) January 14, 2010 at 6:09 pm

oooh great looking lunch! I love sushi.

28 Bria January 14, 2010 at 7:10 pm

Meghann you are so good with your portion control! I’m with Gracie- you are a very balanced eater! I’m munching on some carrots and hummus right now… great minds think alike lol

29 Jayce January 14, 2010 at 7:29 pm

I hate when that happens. πŸ™

Yummy lunch – I love carrots with hummus!

30 jenngirl January 14, 2010 at 7:45 pm

I can’t drink coffee on an empty stomach for those same reasons. It’s like it intesifies low blood sugar and hunger! Bad combo.

31 runninghealthy January 14, 2010 at 8:16 pm

I love sushi! Your plate looks great!

32 kandkfood January 14, 2010 at 8:47 pm
