Marathon Training: Week 3

I am officially on week 3 of my marathon training plan. I have 2 weeks behind me and 14 more to go!

The plan this morning called for a tiny step up in my tempo run by adding an extra mile to the tempo part. Instead of doing 2 GP, 2 T & 1 GP, I did 2 GP, 3 T & 1 GP. Did I lose you yet? ๐Ÿ˜‰

That brought me to a total of 6 miles this morning. I will do the same tempo run again next week before stepping it up to 7 miles the week after. Isnโ€™t marathon training grand?

Unfortunately, I didnโ€™t manage my time very well and ended up back to my apartment after The Today Show had already started. (I time myself in the morning by The Today Show) This meant a very quick shower, the au natural look with my hair and kissing the great breakfast Gods that I had the smarts to prep my breakfast the night before.


I <3 overnight oats!

Last night I combined

  • 1/2 cup Oats
  • 6 Crushed Almonds
  • Raisins
  • 2 spoonfuls Plain Oikos
  • Fat Free Milk

I let it sit in the fridge over night and this morning topped the bowl with


The overnight oats were perfect to eat as I rushed to get ready. Yum!!!

The Today Show is an important part of the daily routine! I have such a love/hate relationship with tempo runs because they bring me back to some of my least favorite practices from when I ran cross country in high school!

Great run! Tempo runs still confuse me. I never know if I’m doing it correctly. Oh well, at least I’m trying ๐Ÿ™‚

ha, I time myself by the Today show, too! I have to be eating/blogging by the time it comes on, or I’m in trouble!

GP = Goal Pace
T = Tempo Pace

I am going for the natural hair look today too, except that now I am freezing. Luckily I work from home and will be trotting off to the bathroom in a few to at least blowdry it.

Don’t you love running before work? It is so amazing. I love running.

I still have not tried overnight oats, but will have to wait now until the summertime. I just enjoy hot oats too much in this chilly weather!

Ha… I time myself by what segment is on the radio show i listen to! Great job on the run… I always find tempo runs to be so hard, but they pay off in the end!

I time my mornings by The Today Show as well! I try to get back from my run in time to see the beginning and headlines ๐Ÿ™‚

Ha, what the heck is “GP” and “T”? You’re speaking another language!

Nice job prepping your breakfast before hand, I love it when I’m running late and have everything together from the night before.

Awesome tempo run! I am so intrigued by overnight oats but am scared that they get mushy and soggy. What is the texture like?

It is mushy, but I like it that way! I make it thick and not runny.

I actually don’t have a taste for Hot Oatmeal. It’s not appealing to me. I also live in florida where the temps are still in the 90s ๐Ÿ™‚

I use my kitchen timer to time myself in the morning. I’m slowly learning to take less thana 30 hours to style my hair.

I give you so much credit for training for a marathon. I’m having a hard enough time training for a 1/2 marathon. Your pizza yesterday looks awesome! I love anything with goat cheese.

I was running late this morning too……..the hubby just kept talking my ear off and before I knew it we had 20 minutes to get my daughter to the bus stop!
