Ready to Kick Off the Season

by Meghann on September 11, 2009

I’ve got my race gear laid out.

A D-tag firmly attached to my shoe.

And a nervous running partner ready to roll.

I say bring it on. ๐Ÿ˜‰ Autumn Rock n Run 5k – here I come!!

Today has been a good Friday. I believe all Friday before races are good ones, especially the one before the first race of the season!

This afternoon a few co-workers and I were standing around discussing the various samples that arrive at my desk each week. It just so happened a couple of hours earlier a USPS box filled with bottles of tea from the nice people at Pom had found its way to me. Since they were complaining I never shared, I offered them to sample the new drinks with me.

Mike was the only one who took up my offer.

We split the new Pomx Pomegrante Hibiscus Green Tea.

Here are our thoughts:

Mike: “I like it. I was expecting something more fruity at first, but the more I drink it the more I enjoy it.”

Me: “It taste a little watered down. It definitely has a unique flavor, but I’m not sure the hisbiscus is for me.”

I left the rest of the Pom Tea samples in my office fridge and promised Mike we could share the rest. He wants to compare all the samples for a final compartive review. Maybe I can get a guest post from him on the manner? ๐Ÿ™‚

After work I headed to Track Shack to meet Caitlin and Katy for what was suppose to be a 2 mile run/walk, but instead we just spent 30 minutes shopping and gabbing. I did mange to pick up mine and Derek’s packets though.

We then headed to a local vegan cafe, Dandelion, for dinner with Kelly and a few other friends.

I spent 20 minutes reviewing the menu before ordering the Communitea Combo.

The combo came with….

the Native Mama Mia Mix quiona mixed with broccoli and scallions with vegan cheezy dressing on the side.

a cup of Henry’s Hearty Chili loaded with artisan organic tempeh, tomatoes, kidney beans, peppers, sweet corn, red onions, scallions & an ultra-secret blend of spices.

and some Blue Corn Chips.

Paired with a cup of the Iced Tea of the Day.

It was a great pre-race meal shared with a great group of friends. I believe we could have sat there and chatted all night. There was a lot of story telling and laughing around that table.

I had brought my Glo Bites to share with everyone at dinner. I had two when I finished. (I also had 2 earlier in the afternoon as well)

I’m happy to say they were finished off tonight. I was so happy that everyone enjoyed them. ๐Ÿ™‚

When I got home Derek was waiting for me. We had a few pre-race errands to run and just happened to drive by a Marble Slab while we were out.

Somehow we made it inside and somehow a small vanilla fro yo with strawberries made its way in my hands. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Pre-race carb loading, right?

I believe that’s it. All that’s left now is to dream sweet dreams of the finish line.

Wish us luck tomorrow!

Good Night!!

Out for Lunch

One year later and the good food just keeps on coming. Thanks for all the Blogiversary Wishes. ๐Ÿ˜‰ My breakfast was great, but it was missing my favorite morning staple: fruit. I promptly corrected this problem by enjoying a Kiwi as my mid-morning snack. For a little guy, Kiwis are a really filling fruit. Maybe more ยป
