Bagels at the Farmers Market

by Meghann on August 22, 2009

Call me crazy, but I love getting up early on Saturday mornings and taking off on a great run. In fact it’s something I look forward to all week.

On Saturdays there is no pressure to be back at a certain time and I feel like I can do limitless miles. I also love how Saturdays give me the opportunity to run somewhere other then just around my neighborhood.

This morning I drove to beautiful Baldwin park and did a wonderful 6.5 miles. 2 loops around the lake and 1 around around the park equals the perfect mix of scenery and distance. I averaged a 9:30 pace and spent the majority of my run politely nodding and smiling at my other early morning runners.

After my run I met Derek and Maddie at the Winter Park’s Farmer Market for some fresh produce and breakfast.

This was Maddie’s first time at a Farmer’s Market and I really think she enjoyed it. She loves other dogs and just kept wanting to walk up and introduce herself to everyone.

There is a popular bagel stand at the Winter Farmer’s Market that always has a line out the door.

I have been wanting to try it for a while and decided today would be perfect.

I ordered the Lox & Bagel on a Whole Wheat Oat Bran Bagel with a low fat herb spread that I politely asked be spread on only one side of the bagel.

Derek ordered an Everything bagel with a Cinnamon Cream Cheese spread. The combination reminded me of French Toast. Yum!

I really enjoyed my bagel sandwich, but am a little unsure of why the place is so popular. I was really hoping for some sort of bagel & egg sandwich but they don’t offer that selection. They offered the egg on an english muffin, but it was pre made and I really wanted a bagel. Oh well.

The fresh produce was really top notch so early at the farmer’s market.

I came home withe a bag full of goodies, I can’t wait to experiment with.

Peach Crisp anyone? ๐Ÿ˜‰

We are currently driving to my parent’s house to spend the day at the beach! I am ready for some fun in the sun!! ๐Ÿ™‚

Derek’s odd combo is like what mark always gets – eggs, taylor ham and cheese on cinnamon raisin.

You must reminded me of how much I miss my morning Saturday runs. The work week has kept me so buy that I’ve find myself needing to sleep in rather get up early on Saturday. But I do remember that feeling of euphoria of finishing a run and knowing that the day is just starting.

Love all of your loot! Have fun today!

Oh your bagel looks great!!! I love stands like that – unfortunately I don’t find places like that in my small Rocky Mountain town. Thankfully I’m visiting Toronto (home!) in a week’s time.

I plan to spoil myself! lol ๐Ÿ˜›

running+farmer’s market=the perfect morning:)

Bagel and lox is one of my favorite combinations (it’s uber popular here in NYC). Maddie is too cute, by the way;)

Looks like a pretty good farmer’s market – lots of selection!

i wanted to go to the farmers market so badly today, but by the time I got done running there was an air show going on and I knew I would NEVER find a place to park…oh to live in a city where I can always walk to things

You aren’t strange – I feel the same way (although I am on a running hiatus due to the boot – but you know what i mean)

Glad Maddie loved her first visit to the market, she looks like she was having a blast! Love that bagel too – YUM!

No bagel sammies ๐Ÿ™

17 Rose August 22, 2009 at 2:57 pm

Is that a pickle or a cucumber in that bagel sando? Either way, delish!

18 Rosey Rebecca August 22, 2009 at 3:26 pm

I love bagels!! I haven’t had one in ages though!! You just made me want to go out and get one!

who doesn’t love the farmers market? when I’m at school, I like to wake up and run to the market on saturdays. it’s a perfect eight to ten mile run.

I love getting up early on Saturdays too! Beautiful farmer’s market – I wish there was one near me!

21 Lizzy August 22, 2009 at 4:19 pm

you are so lucky to have a farmers market close to you! your goodies look so amazing. I wanna get some okra and experiment with it too! yum.

22 Evan Thomas August 22, 2009 at 4:56 pm

I think I see red peppers at your farmer’s market? I’m jealous because I’ve gone to 2 recently and both didn’t have any ๐Ÿ™ They get so juicy on the grill. Peaches are always a win for me, too.

23 Pam August 22, 2009 at 5:04 pm

Looks like a great start to the weekend!! Those bagels look really good and of course all of the produce looks amazing!

24 Annamarina August 22, 2009 at 5:56 pm

I love the Winter’s Park Farmer’s Market! My brother lives in WP and whenever I visit I make sure we go to the FM. I also love running through Baldwin Park – such a nice place to run! I had a similar morning, with a long run and then a trip to our local farmer’s market – out here in California! I can’t wait for my next visit to Winter Park!

25 Jenna August 22, 2009 at 7:24 pm

that bagel place looks really cool ๐Ÿ™‚

26 inmytummy August 22, 2009 at 9:36 pm

That farmer’s market looks nice. Except for not having an egg on a bagel. That’s like my go-to thing to get at a bagel place.

27 Liz @ intheskinny August 23, 2009 at 7:54 am

The tower of bagels looks so good!

28 Ali August 23, 2009 at 9:12 am

I love farmer’s markets! I went to one yesterday too! Yours huge, the one I go to is smaller, but the quality is amazing. Nothing like farm fresh fruit and veggies!
