Now that's what I call a long day!

by Meghann on August 1, 2009

Why is it when I have no money and no reason to buy new clothes there are a million things I want, but when I give myself permission to shop to my heart’s content nothing really stands out?!?! ๐Ÿ™ Booo…..

Shopping today was intense! I spent hours at the mall trying on various outfits on multiple stores, but am sad to say nothing truly stood out. I was looking for a killer outfit to wear the Saturday of the Healthy Living Summit. I was going for a business casual feel as I will be given a presentation and want to go beyond just jeans and a t-shirt.

After spending over an hour in the dressing room of Anne Taylor Loft I did find find something. I’m crossing my fingers this is it, but I’m still not 100% sure. We shall see. ๐Ÿ˜‰

I worked up quite a thirst shopping and made a beeline to Starbucks at one point for a Grande Passion Fruit Tea.

These teas are my new obsession.

Just before noon my Sister and I were starting to get hungy so I pulled out a couple Good Run Cashew Cookies to share.

I love how nutty and seedy these cookies are. They make the perfect hearty snack.

We shopped and shopped then met my parent’s for lunch at a cool new pizza place I have been dying to try.

Pizza Fusion prides itself on being organic and as earth friendly as possible. I love their Food Mantra.

It’s as if our minds connected for a moment in time. ๐Ÿ˜‰

To begin the meal our table started with a full size Pear & Gorgonzola Salad.

I was actually surprised how small the ‘full’ version of the salad was. The 5 of us each only had a tiny portion and a single slice of pear each *sniff*sniff.

Besides the portion size the salad was great with the perfect combination of sweet and savory.

As picky of an eater as I am I decided to opt out of sharing the large pizza with the rest of the family and ordered my own personal size pie of the Farmer Market’s pizza.

Only instead of the trio of cheeses I requested goat cheese instead.

This pizza was A-MA-ZING! I devoured three of the four pieces and savored every bite. My favorite part was how light and thin the multigrain crust was. It was most definitely a winner in my book.

With the meal I had an Honest Green Tea.

I love this stuff.

After pizza the family headed to Ikea for more shopping. Even though I was just at Ikea the week before I still managed to walk out of the store with my hands full of new toys. I wonder how that happens. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Once again everyone found themselves unable to control themselves around the $1 Ice Cream Cones near the check out lane.

I mean how can any one resist these babies calling your name?!?!

We spent the remainder of the afternoon taking advantage of our Universal annual passes. We rode some rides, saw some shows and avoided wandering tourist. It was a nice way to kill a Saturday afternoon. ๐Ÿ™‚

As we left the park my Dad suggested Seasons 52 for dinner and who am I to resist such a tempting offer? It had been far to long since I had the pleasure of dining at one of my favorite restaurants.

First things first, Seasons 52 has one of the best wine selections and I knew the Santa Christina was one of the bests. I ordered a single glass and sipped it slowly through the meal.

I had the biggest craving for chicken for some odd reason, but the one chicken entree was just not sounding good to me. So, instead of ordering a single entree I went with two appetizer to round out my meal.

First I had a cup of the seasonal Roasted Corn Soup.

This soup was a bit thin for my taste. I was expecting something creamy, but this was more of a broth base. It was still good, just not what I had in mind.

I then had the Chipolte Chicken Skewers served with a corn relish and guacamole.

I do love me some bbq chicken. This was exactly what I was craving and it hit the spot perfectly.

Of course you can’t go to Seasons 52 and not get dessert. ๐Ÿ˜‰

I had the Mocha flavor. It was lovely, just as I imagined it would be.

I’m not sure if it was the wine or the long day, but I am exhausted and sooo ready for bed. It has actually taken a lot of effort to stay awake and write this post. TIme to call it a night.

Good night everyone!

Early to Bed, Early to Rise

August 1, 2009

The best part about spending a quiet Friday night in is the luxury of going to sleep at 10:00pm and waking up at 6:00am to run. I actually did end up having an old friend call me last night to see if I wanted to go out, but I just could not bring myself to more ยป
