No Two Alike

by Meghann on July 27, 2009

I had the juciest oddly shaped Pear this afternoon.

Funky, right?

I love how fruit and vegetables can come in all different shape and sizes. That’s how you know its actually from nature and not manufactured in a factory. No two pears are identical just like no two people or no two snowflakes are ever the same. ๐Ÿ™‚

I also believe no two pizzas I make are ever the same.

How awesome does that look? This pizza was the epitome of freshness thanks to the topping fresh herbs and the base of Lavash bread I found at the Health Store yesterday.

This was another local find. Baked and packaged in good ole Tampa.

I topped the lavash bread with marinara sauce, spinach, asparagus, cherry tomatoes, mushrooms, parmesan cheese & raw walnuts.

I baked it at 425 for 5 minutes then added fresh basil, parsley and parmesan while it cooled.

The lavash bread worked perfect as a pizza crust substitute. The whole meal was superb.

When I got home this afternoon I had a package waiting for me. I love packages!

My favorite baker, Amanda, heard my pleas for more goodies and promptly refilled my stash.

Amanda is in the middle of starting up her own baking business. I promise when I get more details I will share them straight away! This is my 4th shipment of her fabulous blondies and I have to admit I have been very spoiled. If you need a testimonial on just how good these are, I’m it!

Thank you again Amanda. As always please let me know if these is anything I can do to return the favor. I owe you BIG time!

Dessert involved half of a Chocolate Brownie.

OH…MY…. GOD!!! Amanda you have out done yourself on this one! It’s like eating fudge! So rich, so sinful and oh so good! Yum, Yum, Yum!!

You think that’s enough exclamation points?!?!? ๐Ÿ˜‰

I just wish I could make brownies as good as these. Baking is just not part of my skills.

I have challenged myself to try and bake something this week for the hell of it. Mica tweeted a fabulous idea the other week that I am going to test out. You will just have to wait until Wednesday to see what that is. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Oh wow! That brownie looks awesome!! I made pizza tonight too!! But I used Jenna’s pizza dough recipe. The bread as a pizza dough substitute is a good idea though!! And I’m loving the walnuts!

Drooling over that brownie here!!!!!!!!!!!!! YUM!!!

I’m like you… every saturday night here is pizza night… I don’t think I’ve had the same pizza twice in over a month! Like everything I’ve made… nothing extravagant or out of the ordinary… but just like coming up with new combos! ๐Ÿ™‚

Can’t wait to see what you make on Wednesday!!

I’m intrigued by the lavosh…did you ever eat at Clusters and Hops while in Tally? They have an amazing eggplant lavosh, but I’ve never tried to make anything with it myself!

18 Kiki July 28, 2009 at 4:45 am

i sometimes actually make a point of picking oddly shaped fruit and veg. I also believe that they are not ‘manufactured’ but let to grow naturally – is there any actual truth behind this? the brownie looks sooo good btw! x

That pizza looks good.

Baking isn’t part of my life either. I definitely have more fun throwing together unique meals than unique desserts. My biggest problem is that I just don’t uderstand baking. Everything has to be so exact, and I’m so bad at reading recipes, I always screw it up!

25 caronae July 28, 2009 at 11:46 am

Yay for baking! You are SO good at making creative tasty looking pizzas. You should totally become a pizza chef!

26 bites4change July 28, 2009 at 1:26 pm

Needs to be said: you have the most creative, healthy, delicious looking recipes EVER. Easy, too! Gotta love that. I could look at your blog for hours.

I also appreciate that you do most of your cooking for one, same as me. It’s challenging sometimes to not just toss together a salad or sammie for convenience.

Thanks for the fresh inspiration!
