Puffin Munchins

by Meghann on July 17, 2009

There is something about little sample bags of my favorite treats that put a smile on my face.

I stalked up on quite a few samples of Peanut Butter Puffins after my marathon in San Diego and I love the convenience of the pre-portioned serving size. This morning I just grabbed the bag from my stash, threw it in my purse and was out the door.

It made the perfect mid-morning snack.

I also love the $1.00 off coupon that is printed on the back of the bag.

When it is time to restock on these peanut butter balls of crunch, the $1.00 off will come in handy.

Lunch today was simple and quick. It seems like the majority of my lunches always are. πŸ™‚

I reheated the other half of my Mellow Mushroom Mega-Veggie Pizza from Wednesday night.

This was originally sliced into 2 slices, but I trimmed it to 4 so I felt like I was eating more.

With the pizza I had a refreshing hunk of Watermelon.

For some reason the combination of pizza & watermelon just screamed summer for me today.

I’m hoping the beautiful sunshine outside holds up for when I get off of work this afternoon. Abbie is BEGGING to be taken to the dog park. How could you deny that pitiful face?

Small World..

I wanted to share with you an e-mail Caitlin, Jenna and I received from one of my favorite readers, Gina, last night. This brought a smile to my face. πŸ™‚

Hello! I wasn’t exactly sure how to let you girls know this, so I figured it would be best to email you πŸ™‚
I went to a Team In Training information meeting last night and ended up talking with one of the girls from the Central PA chapter. She asked how I found out about TNT and I told her read these blogs that were about food and healthy living who were also involved in TNT and lived in Florida. No joke, she looked at me and said, are you talking about Jenna, Meghann, and Caitlin?! I couldn’t believe it! What are the odds?
Just thought you would like to know πŸ™‚ She said she tried to get into the Healthy Living Summit but had problems with the site, so I told her I would take lots of pictures for her.

Seriously it is a small world. It’s really good to hear when ever we’ve inspired someone to sign up for a good cause. Good luck with your fund raising ladies!

Speaking of fund raising for Team in Training, the wonderful Meghan of Help Meghan Run is having a fund raiser of her own for her Team in Training efforts. For the reasonable donation of $10 Meghan is selling a Nutrition Cookbook chalk full of great nutrition information as well as yummy healthy recipes. For more information head over to her blog now.

I love love love PB Puffins!

So I’m just now realizing there is a Mellow Mushroom in Winter Park! I saw it recently and remembered seeing it on Itzy’s blog I believe…anyway, is it good?? Your pizza looks so good!

that is a small world! how cool.

I still have not tried the PB Puffins! They are never on sale here and the only place I can get them sells them for almost $6 a box!

i am so jealous of you pre-portioned size! I LOOOOVE me my puffins, but it is so hard to stop eating them!! I wish they sold them in little packets like this, it’d be perfect!

I bet you ate all 2 pieces (or 4 haha) and didn’t save me any!! πŸ˜‰

see you soon!

5 Gina July 17, 2009 at 1:56 pm

Aww! Thanks for posting my email, I still can’t believe how small a world it really is πŸ™‚

That veggie pizza looks delicious! And I love free samples from races – I snagged some mini lara bars awhile back and they made the best pre-run snack!

I wish I could find the portion-sized Puffins! Whenever I’ve gotten the cereal I go a little crazy with it, even if I portion it into plastic baggies myself… haha. I think the “officially” portioned bags would help. I’ve gotta keep my eye out, I guess!

Love that coupon! πŸ˜‰

And LOVE that Mellow Mushroom. It’s been over a year since I had MM. πŸ™ There’s one in Gainesville though, and Ross is trying to tell me we should go for dinner the day we move up. πŸ™‚

Pizza and watermelon ARE the perfect easy summertime meal.

Gotta love Puffins. I’ve always been a cinnamon fan, myself, but maybe I’ll try PB someday soon.

15 Ashley @ On The Rocks July 17, 2009 at 5:51 pm

that pizza still looks amazing. why is leftover pizza usually better than fresh???

16 Matt July 17, 2009 at 5:52 pm

Puffins = the best cereal ever. I am eating a bowl right now!

17 Anna July 17, 2009 at 6:49 pm

Love those puffins… I wish I could come into some sample packs, portion control for those damn things is hard!

18 Deva July 17, 2009 at 8:06 pm

I LOVE puffins. So much like my favorite kid cereal – Peanut Butter Crunch! Your pizza looks very good – I love pizza covered in veggies.

19 Lauren July 17, 2009 at 8:12 pm

Leftover pizza is so satisfying for lunch. I often enjoy it cold and it totally hits the spot.

Meghann that’s so cool, you are practically famous!!! I don’t think you realize how many people you touch and inspire every single day. Women all over the country are looking up to you and all that you do! Truly amazing girl!

Have a fantastic weekend. πŸ™‚

20 roseyrebecca July 17, 2009 at 8:15 pm

I need to try puffins! I keep seeing them everywhere. I had watermelon and leftover pizza for lunch today too!!

21 Christina July 17, 2009 at 8:59 pm

I got that same sample but wasn’t a fan of them. I think I’m the only person on Earth that doesn’t like peanut butter puffins!

22 sue July 17, 2009 at 9:29 pm

wow they need to sell those sample sized bags…an open box is just too dangerous to keep around!

23 Kathy July 17, 2009 at 11:21 pm

I have seen the PB puffins all over the blog world, but for some reasons I haven’t tried them yet because I think I’ll be disappointed! hmm maybe one day I will πŸ™‚ Also, pizza + watermelon = perfect summer. I’m going to go buy some watermelon tomorrow!

24 Lynn (The Actors Diet) July 18, 2009 at 1:03 am
