Holiday Weekends are Great

by Meghann on July 2, 2009

I survived! Thursday is almost over and tomorrow around lunch time I’ll be boarding my ship to paradise. Woo hoo!!!

I’m sorry if I am a teeny bit annoying about my cruise. I am just so excited and it is all I can think or talk about at the moment. ๐Ÿ™‚

I got very lucky and was able to leave work on the early side today. Leaving early = less traffic on the drive to my parents!

On the way I munched on 2 Zucchini Muffins.

I ended up eating a 3rd one when I reached my parents.

Once I got to the house I joined my Dad and Sister on a trip to Publix to gather supplies for dinner. I kept picking up all of the wonderful fresh looking fruit on sale and my Dad had to keep reminding me I am leaving on a cruise tomorrow and won’t eat it. Old habits die hard. ๐Ÿ™

He may have made me put most of the fruit away, but I believe Dad still picked up some great ingredients for dinner.

I cut up Sweet Potato, Apple and Onions to cook on the grill along side the short ribs and chicken my Dad had marinating in Mojo Sauce.

I had one rib, some chicken breast, a serving of grilled sweet potatoes and some salad on my plate.

It was a wonderful summer time meal and the perfect way to start off the 4th of July holiday weekend!

We broke out Sequence after dinner.

It’s boys against girls and right now Kelly and I are kicking Anthony and Derek’s butt!

We celebrated our first round of victory with ice cream.

I had 1/2 cup of Edy’s Slow Churned Drumstick Ice Cream with Blueberries. This ice cream had broken piece of drumsticks in it and was amazing!

So apparently blogging while playing do not go hand in hand. Derek and Anthony are close to winning around. Crap! Got to go!

But first, a little Oliver loving. ๐Ÿ™‚

Oliver is sooo cute. The Drumstick ice cream is pretty amazing, my stepson wanted some last year and I may or may not have had a few bowls of it. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Nice to see someone else likes Sequence too, very fun game to play with the fam.

I love Barbecues, they’re so summery. I’ve never thought to grill apple or sweet potato on there though , but I’m going to try now!

Is that the griller basket from Williams Sonoma? I just bought that a few weeks ago, and I love it–great for gettin those veggies on the grill!

yes, you’re annoying us about your cruise. why do I have to live on the west coast? the only thing worth cruising to … is well, mexico? oh look, I can book a cruise in december!! how early did you book yours?

Your sister and boyfriend got a puppy?

I was so inspired by your dad’s awesome grilling sense, I had the BF do someting very similar tonight. I held up my laptop and was like, “make this?”

bahaha ๐Ÿ˜€

have fun! are you going to be blogging while on board?

Interesting combo with the sweet potatoes and apples – do you then season it “sweet” style (cinnamon, etc) or do you go savory?

12 Tay July 3, 2009 at 2:11 am

That’s a different sequence board – we have the game, but it’s much smaller and not as fancy schmany looking!! I’ll have to give that ice cream a try. Sounds yumm-o!!

I never knew you could grill potatoes! I guess that shows how much of a city gal I am. That puppy is sooo adorable:)
