Why They Run

by Meghann on May 26, 2009

Last night I finally got around to watching a documentary that was highly recommended to me by my team’s mentor.

Why They Run is a documentary about a Team in Training group in the Chicago area. The movie showcases the team training for the Chicago Marathon, but really the movie focuses beyond just the race and looks towards the inspirations on why they are running with Team in Training. Particularly, the movie revolves around the story of a family and their little boy who is battling leukemia. It really is a tale that tugs at your heart and leads to a couple of tears.

If you have an hour to spare Why They Run can be downloaded for free here. The movie is exactly and hour long and trust me you may want to have some tissues on the side. If you ever needed inspiration to sign up for Team in Training, I think this movie will provide it. It actually had me wishing I had raised more money for the cause!

Nothing like a movie like that to carry you through a morning run. Running 4 miles before breakfast is nothing compared to losing a loved one or battling a blood born cancer.

Upon my return I had a giant bowl of cereal to start my 3 day work week off right.

In the bowl:

Did you catch a customized cereal theme there or is it just me? 🙂

Three days of Work! Only three days of work. Yippeee!!!

It will be the race day before you know it!

My sister and brother in law have run the Chicago Marathon through team in training before and its inspiring (and sad) to hear why some of these people chose to run. I’ll have to forward this link to them!

I will have to watch that soon!

What are your favorite brands of yogurt to use in your morning cereal?

11 Meghann May 26, 2009 at 11:43 am

I LOVE Stoneyfield Non-Fat Vanilla Yogurt. I usually buy the big container and just put a couple of spoonfuls in my cereal each day. I also love Chobani and Oiskos, but saldy those can get pretty $. Every once in a while i do splurge though. 😉
