Buitoni Riserva Pasta

by Meghann on April 17, 2009

It’s 7:30 pm on a Friday night which means, its officially the weekend! Yay!!!

It has been a long week, so I am glad to be able to sit back, relax and watch an idiotic movie (Anyone seen Role Models? ) I was also able to run a couple of much needed errands and pick up my apartment. My ‘deep clean‘ was postponed until another time when I don’t feel like sitting on the couch and being lazy. πŸ˜‰

I continued my theme of new eats today and around 4:00 snacked on another mini-chip bag of my FoodShouldTasteGood samples.

Again I love the little saying on the bottom of the bag. Just as chips could also ‘be dessert’ yesterday they can be a cracker today. πŸ™‚

I was expecting an actual sweet potato chip, but was a little sad to discover it was a tortilla chip with sweet potato flavorings. I really could not taste the sweet potato, but it was still a good chip and a good snack.

Thanks to FoodBuzz’s Tastemaker Program I didn’t even have to worry about dinner because it was waiting for me on my doorstep. πŸ™‚

(Maybe I should have took a picture of the HUGE box this little package came in?)

These little Wild Mushroom Agnolotti Ravioli beauties are part of the new Riserva pasta line by Buitoni. THey are filled with 100% natural ingredients including Parmesean Cheese, Portabello and Crimini Mushrooms. Yum!

The package came with two servings and I happily enjoyed one for dinner.

I layered the Wild Mushroom Agnolotti Ravioli atop some Steamed Broccoli and Fire Roasted Tomato Pasta Sauce.

The pasta was actually really, really good You could really taste the strong cheese flavors mixed with the mushrooms. The pasta was so flavorful and I tried to include a little bite with each piece of broccoli. Yum, Yum, Yum! I will have to look out for this on my next trip to Publix.

Derek brought me a special treat all the way from Tampa for dessert.

I had a mini Cannolli and Mini Raspberry Chocolate Tart from the Greenwise Bakery. They were wonderful and I am very happy to have two more mini tarts waiting for me in the fridge for future consumption. πŸ™‚

I think I am only going to last a couple of more hours before I have to call it a night. I have an early run planned tomorrow and need all the rest I can get to tackle those thirteen miles.

Good night!

Seriously, I couldn’t believe my eyes when I unwrapped my ravioli package… there has to be a more environmentally friendly way of shipping that stuff!

Dang, I’d seen those chips before and thought they were made from sweet potatoes too! Bummer, because sweet potato chips are to die for. Mmmm.

Have a great Friday night!

My BF opened the package so I didn’t see all the waste, but he did comment that it was a little ridiculous. Makes me sad.

So I want to do a review of the pasta since the Buitoni people were nice enough to send it to me…but I don’t like mushrooms! Should I try them anyway and give my review as a non-mushroom eater, or should I give them to someone else if they promise to get back to me with a review, or what?? I need food-blogger advice!

17 Beth April 17, 2009 at 10:26 pm

I really enjoy those chips. Try ’em with fruit salsa, like the suggestion on the bad — it’s good!

18 inmytummy April 17, 2009 at 11:26 pm

I got an email from my boyfriend the other day saying, “you got a huge box that says refrigerate and inside was a tiny box of ravioli”

Yummmmm cannoli!

23 Whitney April 18, 2009 at 8:47 am

I was pretty upset about the wasteful packaging as well. Send more of the pasta if you are going to use a massive box.

Insane. I haven’t tried it yet though. Glad you liked it.

24 Pearl April 18, 2009 at 3:16 pm

good luck on the 13 miles!

25 Stephanie April 20, 2009 at 1:52 pm

If you have Cost Plus in Florida, I found an interesting Italian product there this weekend. They have Gnocchi made with Sweet Potato and Whole Wheat Flour (instead of potato and white flour) – I cannot wait to try them!
