I Did 12 Miles!

What beautiful Saturday for an early morning run! I’m telling you its runs like these that make getting up at the crack of dawn on a Saturday totally worth it. πŸ™‚

I woke up this morning refreshed, relaxed and anxious to do my first double digit run in a few weeks.

Before heading out the door I had a Peppermint Stick Luna Bar to fuel me up.


Our early morning run began in my favorite running area, Blue Jacket Park and wrapped around Lake Baldwin. Our group was suppose to do two laps around the lake and back to the park for 7.5 miles. I decided to do 3 laps around the lake hoping to do 10 miles.

My run started in the beautiful early morning light and watching the sun rise over the lake was breath taking. Its times like these where I try to just take in the beauty of the earth and use that energy to push me through.

I felt great in the beginning and my legs took off. I was lapping people in my group and I felt inspired to go faster. By the time I was close to my goal of 10 miles I decided, what the hell, and pushed it to 12. I finished off the 12 miles strong and felt I could have gone longer if given the opportunity. πŸ™‚

My Running Stats

Distance: 12.0 miles

Time: 1:48:53

Pace: 9:04/ mile

Calories Burned: 1173

Avg Heart Rate: 177

Max Heart Rate: 186

During my run I also got to test out my new CamelBak I bought yesterday.


I have to admit at first I felt like I was a little kid trying to catch a bus with a back pack bouncing up and down behind them. But once I got into the run I forgot it was there and I really think all the hydration really helped my run. I felt great the whole time!

The best motivator for early runs is the breakfast I know is waiting for me when I get home.


This morning the Orange Date Scone I had in the freezer from Sunrise Bakery was the only thing in my head.


I LOVE scones, this was the perfect after run treat. πŸ™‚

I also had an Orange and Kiwi on the side with Almond Butter for a little boost of protein.


I love eating after along run! I think its my favorite part!!

Now I have to pack it up and move it out. I am heading to Tampa for the remainder of the weekend with big plans of relaxing on the beach. Have a great weekend!

GREAT JOB! That is awesome!!!!!
I woke up to a wonderful (sense the sarcasm) blanket of snow to run in – yuck. Oh well, at least it’s pretty.

Hmmm, I’ve been thinking about getting a Camelback but I was wondering the same thing – I don’t know if I’d like a “backpack” on the entire time…….Good to know you liked it!!

Awesome job! I bet you feel great. I should look into getting a camelbak, it would definitely help me focus on running and not on when I’m going to drink water next!

i got that same camelbak last weekend at the bike show for half price. i am excited to start using it for long runs. did you squeeze all the air out and use the chest strap? that is supposed to help with the bouncing. good to hear that it didn’t bother you much while running. that was something i was always worried about and stopped me from getting one but i finally decided, “what the hell”

AMAZING run!!! I’m so impressed!! try tightening the straps on the camelbak… i had to wear mine reallllly tightened so it didn’t bounce!

Wow, Meghann, those are amazing running stats! I mean finishing 12 miles is amazing but finishing it this fast.. wow! And you burnt almost 1200 calories?! I say you should’ve had 2 scones for breakfast πŸ˜†
