5 Minute Lunch (with help)

by Meghann on February 18, 2009

First of all, if you haven’t already you should go check out Caitlin’s Blog for a chance to win a RoadID.

I actually just ordered mine online the other day and full intend on blogging about all the great reasons to have one when mine arrives in the mail. Until then Caitlin has a great post on why it is so important to have some kind of information on you when you run or bike alone.

Mid-morning I had the rest of my box of Kashi Crackers with some Sabra Jalapeño Hummus. Yum!

Lunch was a quick 5 minute meal, thanks to a little help from my friend Amy.

My cousin Andrea had featured this soup on her blog last month and I have been itching to try it ever since.

On Sunday night I had accidentally over-roasted half of an Acorn Squash with plans to remake my successful Acorn Squash Soup Bowl concept I had discovered in Colorado.

Unfortunately the Acorn Squash was way to soft to hold the soup so the concept was defeated. However; I still enjoyed the Curried Lentil Soup with the Acorn Squash and relished every bite. This soup was really good and I would happily buy it again and again.

On the side I also had a piece of Jenna’s Oatmeal Bread. Yum!

I thought you guys would find it amusing where Abbie watches me eat lunch everyday.

She gets right up on the table! I push her down, but she always pops back up. The good thing is she never tries to eat my food, even if I get up and walk away. At least she knows the boundaries there. 🙂

I could not resist a Dark Chocolate Heart from my Godiva Box.

And in work related news, I am in charge of selecting the colors for our company t-shirts for our conference in Long Beach in April. We are going with a summer beach theme, so I narrowed it down to some pretty summery colors.

Its a big toss up right now which to choose. Everyone has an opinion! I need to pick two, one color shirt for each day that everyone who represents the company will be wearing. What colors do you like the best? I’m leaning towards green and yellow.

1 Kristie Lynn February 18, 2009 at 1:18 pm

I would just vote for not the mustard-looking yellow. And my favorite is the green! 🙂 You have got me craving chocolate soooo bad with all that Godiva goodness.

2 Rachel February 18, 2009 at 1:19 pm

I can’t believe I’ve never tried jalapeno hummus before! That sounds delish. And I always like seeing pics of your pup.

I like the green and orange 🙂

3 Becca February 18, 2009 at 1:19 pm

Definitely the green. Totally says summer on the beach! And your dog is absolutely adorable – almost enough to make me want one!

4 HangryPants February 18, 2009 at 1:19 pm

Blue and yellow. Or green. 😀 Not helpful, huh.

5 Danielle February 18, 2009 at 1:21 pm

I love the green! My company gave us the exact same shirt in that blue last year. it doesn’t look good on the guys lol.

6 lauren (athlEAT) February 18, 2009 at 1:21 pm

I like green the best. Then it is a toss up between yellow and orange. abbie is so cute.

7 ttfn300 February 18, 2009 at 1:22 pm

i’m with you on the green or yellow 🙂 lovely lunch with abbie!!

8 Sara February 18, 2009 at 1:24 pm

I agree with you…I like the light yellow and the green. Very spring/summer-ish. Your lunch looks great!

9 Kelly February 18, 2009 at 1:24 pm

I like the blue and green. Don’t go with the orange. The 10k is a Springtime Tallahassee race. I’m going to keep competing in races to keep motivated on being healthy and active. 🙂

10 Erin February 18, 2009 at 1:25 pm

I have never seen the jalapeno hummus! I’m jealous!

11 Meg February 18, 2009 at 1:29 pm

I like the green/yellow or blue/yellow!

Our dogs always sit at the edges of the table when we eat hoping there will be droppings!

12 Andrea [bella eats] February 18, 2009 at 1:34 pm

Yay! That soup is so delish…glad you liked it!

I like the light yellow and the green too. The darker yellow is a little bright…

Jalepeno hummus sounds awesome!

13 Emily February 18, 2009 at 1:37 pm

Laz (dog at my house) does the same thing, except he will eat whatever we leave on the table, so we have to watch him constantly.

I like the bright yellow!

14 brandi February 18, 2009 at 1:41 pm

I like the green and blue, but that’s just because I don’t look good in yellows 🙂

15 VeggieGirl February 18, 2009 at 1:44 pm

I’ve been dying to try that soup – glad you liked it!!

Yellow is my favorite color!!

16 thelongweigh February 18, 2009 at 1:52 pm

18 Beadie February 18, 2009 at 1:54 pm

I like the blue and the green.

19 Allison February 18, 2009 at 2:00 pm

Obviously I’m partial – but go with the green! 🙂

20 Brooke February 18, 2009 at 2:01 pm

I’m kinda partial to the light blue and yellow myself.

24 Diana (Soap & Chocolate) February 18, 2009 at 2:28 pm

Somehow the squash-soup combo still looks amaaaazing, even if it was…well, squashed. 🙂

25 Julie February 18, 2009 at 2:34 pm

I second the green and yellow

26 Sharon February 18, 2009 at 2:59 pm

Green!!!! =D

27 Andrea February 18, 2009 at 3:00 pm

blue and yellow

28 Casey February 18, 2009 at 3:03 pm

I go on a volunteer trip to Lourdes, France almost every summer and we have a hideously bright shirt to wear for each day of the week – bright orange being one of them. They are a great way to stay together and pick your group out in a crowd, but not so great as a fashion statement. Unless you’re going to be in a huge crowd – or will do anything for a good laugh – I’d go with the green =)

29 Matt February 18, 2009 at 3:05 pm

I like the blue and the green the best!

30 sarahdbelle February 18, 2009 at 3:08 pm

I like the light yellow and blue. It makes me think of the beach. I love your squash combo although it didn’t quite work out today!

36 Stephanie February 18, 2009 at 4:02 pm

I think the green or blue would flatter the most ppl’s complexions!

37 NAOmni February 18, 2009 at 4:04 pm

Amy’s soups are delicious. In fact all things Amy’s are delicious…except for some of the pre-made Indian meals. Just as a heads up.

38 Chez February 18, 2009 at 4:09 pm

I like the green and the bright yellow. I might be biased, but that light yellow color always washes out us super-pale people!!

39 Sarah February 18, 2009 at 4:16 pm

blue is always my favorite!
there are few things in life more fun than finishing off a bag of crackers 😀

40 Ryan February 18, 2009 at 4:22 pm

I love the green and yellow colors! So fresh and springy!

41 Sammie February 18, 2009 at 4:36 pm

43 balancemycake February 18, 2009 at 5:27 pm

Hi Meghann!
My name is Michelle and I have JUST started up a brand new food blog of my own, Balance My Cake

I hope you’ll check it out, I love your blog!

I would vote for the green or blue shirts!!
Oh and thumbs waaaay up on the second layer of Godivas…score!!

44 Sarah February 18, 2009 at 5:39 pm

Green! The color of money.

Your lunch looks disgustingly delicious 😉

45 Kirsten February 18, 2009 at 5:53 pm

I like the soft blue and sage green! I think those would look the best on the most people. Orange and yellow can sometimes look not the best on all people. I know I look horrible in orange! =)

46 snackface February 18, 2009 at 6:00 pm

OMG Abbie!!! How adorable! I like the green and yellow- easiest to wear I feel. Mmm your lunch looks scrumpsh!

47 Olga February 18, 2009 at 6:09 pm

I vote green and blue. Yellow can do damage to some people…

Awww Abbie’s such a cutie!

48 ksgoodeats February 18, 2009 at 6:16 pm

That soup is amazing! Abbie is way too cute 🙂

I pick yellow 🙂

49 Justy2003 February 18, 2009 at 6:18 pm

I’m more of a green person. Either the blue or the yellow is nice too…not that dark yellow though…I’m not a fan.

50 Marissa February 18, 2009 at 6:21 pm

Abbie is too cute!! 🙂

I like all of the colors except for that bright yellow one.

51 Meredith February 18, 2009 at 8:55 pm

Green!!! Unfortunately yellow doesn’t really compliment my ghostly skin tone, even though I love it — it just makes me look washed out.

52 Bridget February 19, 2009 at 8:22 am

Hehe LOVE Abbie!! Willow would totally be begging for food…we werent so great with that training.

I am SO with you on Green and Yellow 🙂
